In this study ultra-miniaturized broadband antenna optimized for biomedical implant applications, operating within the 2.45 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. The suggested broadband antenna demonstrates a highly compact design, with an ultra-small footprint of just 9.13 mm 3 (6 mm × 6 mm × 0.38 mm). This minimization is achieved by leveraging high-permittivity materials for both the substrate and super-strate, combined with strategically placed rectangular slotted on the patch. The antenna delivers an impressive broadband performance, covering a frequency interval of 2.1 to 2.62 GHz with a total bandwidth of 520 MHz, making it highly capable of supporting high data rate transmissions. Using a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding structure, the antenna achieves a gain of -26.8 dB and exhibits an omnidirectional radiation pattern, enabling reliable data transmission and reception from all directions. These unique features make the antenna exceptionally suited for implantable medical devices, where size, performance, and reliability are critical.

Generative AI (GAI) can enhance the cognitive, reasoning, and planning capabilities of intelligent modules in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) by synthesizing augmented datasets, completing sensor data, and making sequential decisions. In addition, the mixture of experts (MoE) can enable the distributed and collaborative execution of AI models without performance degradation between connected vehicles. In this survey, we explore the integration of MoE and GAI to enable Artificial General Intelligence in IoV, which can enable the realization of full autonomy for IoV with minimal human supervision and applicability in a wide range of mobility scenarios, including environment monitoring, traffic management, and autonomous driving. In particular, we present the fundamentals of GAI, MoE, and their interplay applications in IoV. Furthermore, we discuss the potential integration of MoE and GAI in IoV, including distributed perception and monitoring, collaborative decision-making and planning, and generative modeling and simulation. Forests are of great importance to natural ecosystems. In the case of frequent storms, it is of great significance to map the windfall damages of forests and estimate the affected area for post-disaster management. remote sensing image classification has wide applications in forest change monitoring, but it also has some limitations. First, the training samples of the classification algorithm are mostly selected by pixel-based random sampling and artificial region sampling, which lead to the difficulty of modeling complex built-up area patterns in high-resolution images and sample redundancy respectively. Second, when the labeled samples are limited, forcing them into training sets and test sets will result in poor classification accuracy. To solve these problems, two new propositions have been proposed in this paper. The first is a new sample selection method, which combines block-based sampling with spatial features computed by single or multiple windows. Second, a new evaluation criterion is proposed by using a homomorphic hypothesis margin map which can not only assess the confidence level of each pixel category but also make regional boundaries clearer combined with OOB accuracy which can replace the test set so that all samples can be used for change detection and binary map. Then the random forest ensemble learning algorithm is used to classify samples to compare the differences with the traditional method. The experimental results show that under the same conditions, the OOB accuracy obtained by spatial features with whole block sampling is 7.2% higher than that obtained by spectral features with pixel-based sampling and 2% − 3% higher than block center sampling, of which the highest value reaches 98.8%. Besides, it is also proved that distinguishing damaged and undamaged forests accurately only depending on the after-storm image is possible, which will be useful in situations where data is lacking. © 2023, The Authors. Existing 3D mask learning methods encounter performance bottlenecks under limited data, and our objective is to overcome this limitation. In this paper, we introduce a triple point masking scheme, named TPM, which serves as a scalable plug- and-play framework for MAE pre-training to achieve multi-mask learning for 3D point clouds. Specifically, we augment the baseline methods with two additional mask choices (i.e., medium mask and low mask) as our core insight is that the recovery process of an object can manifest in diverse ways. Previous high-masking schemes focus on capturing the global representation information but lack fine-grained recovery capabilities, so that the generated pre-training weights tend to play a limited role in the fine-tuning process. With the support of the proposed TPM, current methods can exhibit more flexible and accurate completion capabilities, enabling the potential autoencoder in the pre-training stage to consider multiple representations of a single 3D point cloud object. In addition, during the fine-tuning stage, an SVM-guided weight selection module is proposed to fill the encoder parameters for downstream networks with the optimal weight, maximizing linear accuracy and facilitating the acquisition of intricate representations for new objects. Extensive experimental results and theoretical analysis show that five baselines equipped with the proposed TPM achieve comprehensive performance improvements on various downstream tasks. This paper considers the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. Existing distributed online algorithms require that each agent broadcasts its decision to its neighbors at each iteration. To better utilize the limited communication resources, we propose a distributed event-triggered online primal-dual algorithm with two-point bandit feedback. Under several classes of appropriately chosen decreasing parameter sequences and non-increasing event-triggered threshold sequences, we establish dynamic network regret and network cumulative constraint violation bounds. These bounds are comparable to the results achieved by distributed event-triggered online algorithms with full-information feedback. There is growing interest in e-mobility which is not only limited to electric vehicles but also mass transit systems, heavy duty vehicles, off-road vehicles and so on. With the intense focus on sustainability and achieving net zero emissions, most transit systems will be electrified. The impact of mass transit electrification on the existing power system needs a thorough and detailed analysis. Also, the upgrade from fuel powered transit systems to electric transit systems needs to be done with minimal changes to the existing power network and maximum utilization of available resources in the transit system. Therefore, the study of electric transit systems, its impact on the power system and challenges that can arise from electrifying railways are presented in this paper.

Modular Multilevel DC-DC Converter With Inherent Bipolar Operation Capability for Resilient Bipolar MVDC Grids

Bipolar medium-voltage dc (MVDC) distribution systems are of great interests nowadays due to its high availability and reliability. A bipolar MVDC grid can be established by the installation of power-balancers or directly by converters with inherent bipolar operation capability to avoid the extra cost and volume. Therefore, this paper proposes a modular multilevel dc-dc converter (MMDC) with inherent bipolar operation capability for the interconnection of bipolar MVDC grids and LVDC girds. Considering that the MMDC is normally only capable of operating with monopole MVDC distribution systems due to the symmetric structure and operation scheme, a center-tapped high-frequency interface transformer is employed on the MV side of the MMDC. Based on the concept of the flux dc-bias cancellation, a dedicated operation method is proposed, whereby the power flows of the two MVDC poles can be regulated independently with a simple control scheme, and no penalty of increased current rating is imposed on the semiconductor devices or the interface transformer compared to the conventional MMDC with monopole operation. Additionally, the MMDC can realize single-pole operation in case one pole is faulty and deliver at least 50% of the rated power capacity, which significantly enhance the reliability and availability of the power delivery. The validity of the proposed bipolar operation scheme of the MMDC has been verified by both simulations and experiments with a down-scale prototype.

This paper investigates the C-band polarimetric SAR imaging response to ocean current at various wind and current velocities. The well-developed radar imaging model, which incorporates different scattering mechanisms of specular scattering, Bragg scattering and wave breaking effect, is employed for the numerical simulations. The current surface with a typical internal wave phenomenon generated by the MITgcm numerical mode is used. The KHCC03 spectrum is utilized in which the modulations by current and other dynamic factors are considered. The numerical results indicate that hydrodynamic modulation of ocean scattering is nonlinear to both wind and current velocities. For currents with high velocity, the modulation effects decreases with the increase of wind speed. However, this monotonic relationship is not applicable to the modulation effects of weak current, particularly for co-polarizations. At large current velocity, the current modulation effect at co-polarizations could be saturated.

Neural manifolds summarize the intrinsic structure of the information encoded by a population of neurons. Advances in experimental techniques have made simultaneous recordings from multiple brain regions increasingly commonplace, raising the possibility of studying how these manifolds relate across populations. However, when the manifolds are nonlinear and possibly code for multiple unknown variables, it is challenging to extract robust and falsifiable information about their relationships. We introduce a framework, called the method of analogous cycles, for matching topological features of neural manifolds using only observed dissimilarity matrices within and between neural populations. We demonstrate via analysis of simulations and in vivo experimental data that this method can be used to correctly identify multiple shared circular coordinate systems across both stimuli and inferred neural manifolds. Conversely, the method rejects matching features that are not intrinsic to one of the systems. Further, as this method is deterministic and does not rely on dimensionality reduction or optimization methods, it is amenable to direct mathematical investigation and interpretation in terms of the underlying neural activity. We thus propose the method of analogous cycles as a suitable foundation for a theory of cross-population analysis via neural manifolds. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.
