Advancing Text-to-Image Generation: A Comparative Study of StyleGAN-T and Stable Diffusion 3 under Neutrosophic Sets

Recent advances in generative models have revolutionized the technology employed for image synthesis quite significantly, and two paradigms—GANs and diffusion-based models—are leading the pack of innovation. This paper outlines an extensive comparison and analysis of some of the best models across both paradigms, namely StyleGAN-T, DF-GAN, AttnGAN, and BigGAN on the GAN side and Stable Diffusion 3 (SD3), DALL·E 3, Midjourney v6, and Imagen 2 on the diffusion side. We systematically inspect the architectural design, training protocols, text-conditioning processes, and domain adaptability of each model, highlighting how they address text-to-image generation challenges differently. Through qualitative and quantitative measurements—such as FID, CLIP Score, human preference surveys, and compositional accuracy, the work reveals performance tradeoffs concerning speed, control, creativity, semantic alignment, and photorealism. We use the Neutrosophic Set model to select the best model based on these evaluation matrices. We have different scores for each model based on evaluation matrices. So, the neutrosophic set is used to overcome the uncertainty information. We use the COPRAS method to rank the models and select the best one based on the evaluation matrix weights. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.

A frequency-selective fast-fading channel degrades the performance of a signal as it introduces inter-symbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI). Equalization is the process of eliminating ISI and ICI by adaptively updating the tap weights of the FIR filter. The work presented utilizes various heuristic computational techniques (HCTs) to adaptively update the weights for doubly selective channel equalization (DSCE). Various HCTs are also compared, including genetic algorithms (GAs), particle swarm optimization (PSO), differential evolution (DE), cat swarm optimization (CSO), bee colony optimization (BCO), hybrid GA-PSO (HGP), and the cuckoo search algorithm (CSA). Extensive simulations were performed in MATLAB, and the simulation results show that PSO outperforms the other HCTs in terms of computational time complexity and FoM. We propose an online identification scheme for discrete-time piece-wise affine state-space models based on a system of adaptive algorithms running in two timescales. A stochastic approximation algorithm implements an online deterministic annealing scheme at a slow timescale, estimating the partition of the augmented state-input space that defines the switching signal. At the same time, an adaptive identification algorithm, running at a higher timescale, updates the parameters of the local models based on the estimate of the switching signal. Identifiability conditions for the switched system are discussed and convergence results are given based on the theory of two-timescale stochastic approximation. In contrast to standard identification algorithms for piece-wise affine systems, the proposed approach progressively estimates the number of modes needed and is appropriate for online system identification using sequential data acquisition. This progressive nature of the algorithm improves computational efficiency and provides real-time control over the performance-complexity trade-off, desired in practical applications. Experimental results validate the efficacy of the proposed methodology.

We report the observation of two identical Leidenfrost droplets rebounding from each other after a head-on collision on a hot surface, resembling billiard ball collision. The observed phenomenon contradicts the established understanding that predicts the coalescence of two colliding Leidenfrost droplets. The collision dynamics of the Leidenfrost droplets is investigated using pressure and energy balance analysis at the macroscale, and a molecular interaction analysis at the nanoscale. The results suggest that droplet properties and the temperature of the hot surface determine the state of the gas film between the colliding droplets. Droplets with lower surface tension form thicker gas films, while lower surface temperatures mitigate the interaction of vapor molecules within the gas film, both facilitating droplet rebound after their collision. The discovered Leidenfrost droplet phenomenon is highly controllable, and has potential for a variety of applications, such as the selective chemical synthesis as explored in this work.

HPC Application Parameter Autotuning on Edge Devices: A Bandit Learning Approach

The growing necessity for enhanced processing capabilities in edge devices with limited resources has led us to develop effective methods for improving high-performance computing (HPC) applications. In this paper, we introduce LASP (Lightweight Autotuning of Scientific Application Parameters), a novel strategy designed to address the parameter search space challenge in edge devices. Our strategy employs a multi-armed bandit (MAB) technique focused on online exploration and exploitation. Notably, LASP takes a dynamic approach, adapting seamlessly to changing environments. We tested LASP with four HPC applications: Lulesh, Kripke, Clomp, and Hypre. Its lightweight nature makes it particularly well-suited for resource-constrained edge devices. By employing the MAB framework to efficiently navigate the search space, we achieved significant performance improvements while adhering to the stringent computational limits of edge devices. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of LASP in optimizing parameter search on edge devices. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

In order to forecast the run time of the jobs that were submitted, this research provides two linear regression prediction models that include continuous and categorical factors. A continuous predictor is built using the number of CPUs, average CPU speed, and memory size, whereas a categorical predictor is built using the user ID, group ID, and executable ID. According to the findings, the prediction rates for categorical and continuous predictors are 61% and 1%, respectively. sixty times better than the earlier models, which used continuous variables as a foundational model to determine task complexity and weight. The effectiveness of the categorical predictor in enhancing a job scheduling problem is then evaluated by combining it with three suggested job scheduling strategies. The suggested algorithms incorporated metrics—predicted run time, waiting time, and resource requirement—to select the smallest jobs. According to the results, Algorithm 3 performs better than earlier models in both performance metrics. The variation in total execution time and average waiting time is 1.14 to 1.76 and 4.5, respectively compared to previous models, Additionally, Algorithms 1 and 2 demonstrating superior performance in every scenario.

This research-to-practice paper presents a novel pedagogical tool for hardware cybersecurity education and workforce development. The growing importance of hardware security has made it essential for individuals and organizations to understand hardware security principles and best practices. However, the current educational curriculum falls short of fulfilling these emerging demands due to the rapidly changing hardware security landscape and limited opportunities for hands-on training. To address these challenges, we propose and have developed the Interactive Hardware and Cybersecurity (I-HaC) Educational Framework, a pedagogical educational framework that supplements existing courses by leveraging generative AI for individualized instruction related to hardware and cybersecurity, data mining, and applied Machine Learning (ML), as well as data visualization to enhance cybersecurity education and workforce development. The framework is designed to be utilized by graduate and undergraduate electrical and computer engineering (ECE) and computer science (CS) students for a comprehensive introduction to cybersecurity exploits and countermeasures in an interactive manner with hands-on components. Using I-HaC, we have developed tailored lab components for a diverse range of students and intend to release I-HaC as open-source for the benefit of the ECE and CS education community.

In this paper, a novel dual-band MIMO monopole antenna for 5G applications is presented. The proposed MIMO antenna is made up of two rings that are T-shaped, generating two distinguished bands: the N77 band and the 6 GHz 5G band. A Tshaped ground branch with a bottom slit is integrated into the ground plane to mitigate the mutual coupling at lower and higher operating bands by redistributing the current, thus improving the isolation enhancement. A reversed T-shaped grounded parasitic element with extra grounded parasitic elements on the partial ground is inserted on top of the substrate, between the MIMO elements. The grounded process is introduced by inserting two metallic vias in each branch of the parasitic element. These parasitic elements effectively reduce the coupling between the MIMO antennas by restricting the current to the respective antenna, thus improving the isolation at the higher band. To verify the design principle of the suggested MIMO antenna, this latter is manufactured and tested. It exhibits excellent impedance matching and high isolation characteristics, and a compact footprint of 29 mm × 42.5 mm. Thus, it is attractive for 5G MIMO systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigated the predictive capabilities of three decision tree models for IoT botnet attack prediction using packet information while minimizing the number of predictors. The study employed three decision tree models (C5, CHAID, and Random Forest) and two additional models (Logistic Regression and Bayesian Network) for comparison purposes. The IoT botnet attack dataset comprised various devices, mainly two types of attacks (Gafgyt and Mirai) and 23 feature engineering variables. Simulation results from all models showed that Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and False Omission Rate (FOR) values are approximately one, with an F1 score of around 0.5. CHAID and C5 models outperform other models in predicting IoT botnet attacks, as they are developed using only four and two variables, respectively. These results demonstrated that decision tree models with fewer variables can perform better than models that utilize all predictors.

Recent advances in physiological human motor control research indicate that human endpoint stiffness magnitude increases linearly with grasp force. Based on these findings, a scheme was proposed in this paper to integrate the linear quadratic estimation (LQE) filter with the stiffness model inferred from grasp force, which can simultaneously estimate the human arm's stiffness and motion intention. Then, an online variable impedance controller (VIC) was designed based on previous estimations for physical human-robot interaction (pHRI). The proposed stiffness model and estimation method were validated through experiments using a planar robotic interface. In order to assess its performance in practical pHRI tasks, the implementation of human arm stiffness and intention estimation combining with VIC was extended to a teleoperation peg-in-hole and robot-assisted rehabilitation tasks. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively estimate human motion intention and arm stiffness simultaneously. Compared to existing methods, the proposed VIC enhances pHRI in terms of increased flexibility, effective guidance, and reduced human effort. © 2016 IEEE.
