In this study, we characterize GaN-HEMT devices and present both DC and AC measurement outcomes for the multi-finger configurations. Specifically, we introduce a new device featuring wide electrodes to assess and compare the performance of various multi-finger arrangements. This particular transistor comprises two fingers, each measuring 150 μm in width. We analyze and compare the s-parameters of structures with varying widths, extending our frequency range up to 67 GHz. This newly developed wide-finger configuration is integral to our ongoing efforts in developing optimized modeling approaches and improved transistor designs. The comparative analysis of different finger widths lays the groundwork for future explorations into high-frequency phenomena, including wave propagation effects and their impact on the performance of millimeter-wave transistors. © 2024 IEEE.

We consider the control design of stochastic discrete-time linear multi-agent systems (MASs) under a global signal temporal logic (STL) specification to be satisfied at a predefined probability. By decomposing the dynamics into deterministic and error components, we construct a probabilistic reachable tube (PRT) as the Cartesian product of reachable sets of the individual error systems driven by disturbances lying in confidence regions (CRs) with a fixed probability. By bounding the PRT probability with the specification probability, we tighten all state constraints induced by the STL specification by solving tractable optimization problems over segments of the PRT, and relax the underlying stochastic problem with a deterministic one. This approach reduces conservatism compared to tightening guided by the STL structure. Additionally, we propose a recursively feasible algorithm to attack the resulting problem by decomposing it into agent-level subproblems, which are solved iteratively according to a scheduling policy. We demonstrate our method on a ten-agent system, where existing approaches are impractical. © 2024 IEEE.

The study suggests a scalable method for estimating residential power usage. To increase the forecasting accuracy, an SVM (support vector machine) based technique combines many machine learning models, such as random forests, decision trees, and linear regression. Real-world data from Dutch families were used in the study, and the findings demonstrate that the suggested strategy performs better than conventional single-model techniques and attains higher accuracy in predicting energy use. The method is suited for usage in real-world applications since it is scalable and applies to huge datasets. An approach for machine learning used in load forecasting is called SVM (Support Vector Machine). Applications for long-term individual household forecasting include calculating advance payments to customers. However, there is a dearth of research on this type of forecasting;most techniques either concentrate on long-term predictions at the aggregate level or on individual family-level short-term projections. In order to close this distance, we provide a technique that uses only a few months' worth of current year's consumption data to anticipate each monthly consumption throughout the next year. Even with little data, utility suppliers may use this technique to predict any customer's consumption for the upcoming year. Data power use in the future may be predicted using linear regression. The linear regression process is used to forecast data in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

This article highlights the control of an electromechanical wind emulator designed to mimic the behavior of a wind turbine. The emulator employs a self-excited induction generator, which is driven by a DC motor. A DC-DC Buck converter adjusts the rotation speed, adapting to changes in the wind profile. A PI controller is employed to oversee and fine-tune the output current from the converter, ensuring alignment with the characteristics of the wind turbine model in use. The control strategy is crafted to oversee the wind turbine power based on the wind speed. This is achieved by adjusting the pitch angle value and tip speed, aiming to prevent wind turbine from stalling. The efficacy of the implemented control strategy is demonstrated in the Matlab-Simulink environment, where the proposed system is evaluated. The results show accurate tracking and no overshoot. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowcasting and forecasting solar irradiance are vital for the optimal prediction of grid-connected solar photovoltaic(PV)power *** plants face operational challenges and scheduling dispatch difficulties due to the fluctuating nature of their power *** the generation capacity within the electric grid increases,accurately predicting this output becomes increasingly essential,especially given the random and non-linear characteristics of solar irradiance under variable weather *** study presents a novel prediction method for solar irradiance,which is directly in correlation with PV power output,targeting both short-term and medium-term forecast *** proposed hybrid framework employs a fast trainable statistical learning technique based on the truncated-regularized kernel ridge regression *** proposed method excels in forecasting solar irradiance,especially during highly intermittent weather periods.A key strength of our model is the incorporation of multiple historical weather parameters as inputs to generate accurate predictions of future solar irradiance values in its scalable *** evaluated the performance of our model using data sets from both cloudy and sunny days in Seattle and Medford,USA and compared it against three forecasting models:persistence,modified 24-hour persistence and least *** on three widely accepted statistical performance metrics(root mean squared error,mean absolute error and coefficient of determination),our hybrid model demonstrated superior predictive accuracy in varying weather conditions and forecast horizons.

Ensuring safety and security is paramount in today’s complex environment, and the effective detection of contraband items plays a pivotal role in achieving this objective. Contraband items, ranging from illegal substances to unauthorized goods, pose a threat to public safety, security, and the overall well-being of smart city inhabitants. Such items are currently detected by human operator reviewing the images from X-ray baggage scanners. However, manual detection of contraband items is inherently challenging and time-consuming resulting in significant delays at crowded places such as airports, train-stations, shopping malls etc. Moreover, there is a significant risk of overlooking certain items that could pose potential harm. To address these challenges, there is a growing demand for intelligent systems for contraband items detection that can efficiently and accurately detect items whilst minimizing false negatives. Automated deep learning solutions offer a sophisticated and technologically advanced approach to enhance the accuracy and speed of the detection process. In our pursuit to address this challenge comprehensively, we have obtained an X-ray Imaging Dataset specifically curated for this purpose. The dataset includes five types of objects including guns, knives, pliers, scissors, and wrenches that are typically banned to carry along. In this paper, we have proposed a deep learning-based approach to efficiently and accurately detect contraband items from X-ray images. The proposed approach is based on YOLO architectures that has been shown to perform better for object detection in variety of domains both in terms of accuracy and real-time performance. We have evaluated different versions of YOLO to select the version that works best for contraband item detection from X-ray images.
