Prior to the introduction of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), modelling and analyzing irregular data, particularly graphs, was thought to be the Achilles' heel of deep learning. The core concept of GNNs is to find a representation by recursively aggregating the representations of a central node and those of its neighbor, and many GNNs' designs have demonstrated its success. However, most only focus on using the first-order information between a node and its neighbors. In this paper, we introduce a central node permutation variant function through a frustratingly simple and innocent-looking modification to the core operation of a GNN, namely the Feature cOrrelation aGgregation (FOG) module, which learns the second-order information from feature correlation between a node and its neighbors in the pipeline. By adding FOG into existing variants of GNNs, we empirically verify this second-order information complements the features generated by original GNNs across a broad set of benchmarks. A tangible boost in the model's performance is observed where the model surpasses previous state-of-the-art results by a significant margin while employing fewer parameters. e.g., 26.202% improvement on a real-world molecular dataset using graph convolutional networks. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a general methodology for deriving information-theoretic generalization bounds for learning algorithms. The main technical tool is a probabilistic decorrelation lemma based on a change of measure and a relaxation of Young's inequality in Lψp Orlicz spaces. Using the decorrelation lemma in combination with other techniques, such as symmetrization, couplings, and chaining in the space of probability measures, we obtain new upper bounds on the generalization error, both in expectation and in high probability, and recover as special cases many of the existing generalization bounds, including the ones based on mutual information, conditional mutual information, stochastic chaining, and PAC-Bayes inequalities. In addition, the Fernique-Talagrand upper bound on the expected supremum of a subgaussian process emerges as a special case. © 2023 Neural information processing systems foundation. A compact reconfigurable CMOS bandpass filter (BPF) with high selectivity is proposed using transformer-type resonators in this article. The transformer-type resonator is constructed by a transformer loaded with parallel varactors for frequency tuning, and two varactors are then added across primary wind and secondary wind for coupling tuning. With the transformer-type structure, one resonator is formed inside another resonator, thus fully utilizing the chip area and resulting in a miniaturized structure. Magnetic and electrical couplings are formed within the transformer-type resonator and facilitate the bandwidth (BW) tuning. The quality factor (Q) of each resonator is improved by cross-coupled negative resistance structure. Meanwhile, two pairs of transformer-type resonators are placed side-by-side and naturally form a quadruplet structure;as a result, two transmission zeros (TZs) are introduced at each side of the passband thus significantly improving the selectivity and stopband rejection of the BPF. The proposed tunable on-chip BPF is manufactured by a commercial 55 nm bulk CMOS technology with a core area of 1.48 × 0.54 mm2. The filter center frequency (CF) can be tuned from 2.2 to 3.6 GHz, while the 3 dB fractional BW (FBW) can be tuned from 14% to 33%. The shape factor of the proposed filter is 1.4-1.9. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Flexible electronics on low-temperature substrates like paper are very appealing for their use in disposable and biocompatible electronic applications and areas like healthcare, wearables, and consumer electronics. Plasma-jet printing (PJP) uses a dielectric barrier discharge plasma to focus aerosolized nanoparticles onto a target substrate. The same plasma can be used to change the properties of the printed material and even sinter in situ. In this work, we demonstrate the one-step deposition of gold structures onto flexible and low-temperature substrates without the need for thermal or photonic postprocessing. We also explore the plasma effect on the deposition of the gold nanoparticle ink. The plasma voltage is optimized for the sintering of the gold nanoparticles, and a simple procedure for manufacturing traces with increased adhesion and conductivity is presented, with a peak conductivity of 6.2\times 10{5} S/m. PJP-printed gold LED interconnects and microheaters on flexible substrates are developed to demonstrate the potential of this single-step sintered deposition of conductive traces on low-temperature substrates. © 2022 IEEE.

Automatic Speaker Identification (ASI) is so crucial for security. Current ASI systems perform well in quiet and clean surroundings. However, in noisy situations, the robustness of an ASI system against additive noise and interference is a crucial factor. An investigation of the impact of interference on ASI system performance is presented in this paper, which introduces algorithms for achieving high ASI system performance. The objective is to resist the interference of various forms. This paper presents two models for the ASI task in the presence of interference. The first one depends on Normalized Pitch Frequency (NPF) and Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) as extracted features and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) as a classifier. In this model, we investigate the utilization of a Discrete Transform (DT), such as Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Sine Transform (DST), to increase the robustness of extracted features against different types of degradation through exploiting the sub-band decomposition characteristics of DWT and the energy compaction property of DCT and DST. This is achieved by extracting features directly from contaminated speech signals in addition to features extracted from discrete transformed signals to create hybrid feature vectors. The enhancement techniques, such as Spectral Subtraction (SS), Winer Filter, and adaptive Wiener filter, are used in a preprocessing stage to eliminate the effect of the interference on the ASI system. In the second model, we investigate the utilization of Deep Learning (DL) based on a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with speech signal spectrograms and their Radon transforms to increase the robustness of the ASI system against interference effects. This study examines the growing number of satellites, this paper explores the importance of satellite tracking and highlights NOAA-15 for information transmission and weather monitoring. It offers a low-cost configuration for receiving circularly polarized signals, using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) at 137.62 MHz and a V-dipole antenna. The directional characteristics of the V-dipole maximize capture efficiency by improving signal reception during particular satellite orbits. The flexible SDR, in particular the RTL SDR USB dongle, is used to detail signal decoding for Automatic Picture Transmission (APT), allowing for effective processing and tracking. High-quality APT photos are produced by this hardware-software integration, highlighting NOAA's crucial role in international weather forecasting. The study also emphasizes how simple and inexpensive it is to use the V-dipole antenna to receive NOAA weather satellite signals. © 2024 IEEE.

Banking produces extensive and diverse data, so a clustering process is needed to understand customer behavior patterns and transactions more effectively. This clustering has been widely utilized with the K-Means algorithm due to its simplicity and efficiency. However, this algorithm is limited in determining the optimal cluster center, affecting the accuracy of the clustering results. This study proposes applying two metaheuristic algorithms, Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), as additional solutions combined with K-Means. These two algorithms were chosen because of their ability to find global solutions and convergence speed to handle large and complex banking data. The results show the superiority of IWOKM compared to PSOKM in terms of SSE and DBI. From the SSE value, IWOKM produces a lower value (3029.77), which indicates that this method is better at minimizing clustering errors and producing more accurate clustering than PSOKM (80007.09). From the DBI value, IWOKM also produces a better value (1.6684) than PSOKM (1.6782), which shows that the clusters produced by IWOKM are more compact and more separated. However, in terms of computation time, PSOKM is more efficient, with a faster average computation time. Although IWOKM produces better clustering quality, PSOKM offers advantages in terms of processing speed. This finding confirms that the selection of the IWO algorithm is more appropriate for use on datasets with characteristics such as the German Credit Dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, there has been an alarming decline in bee populations both globally and in Sri Lanka, severely impacting ecosystems and agriculture worldwide. Traditional methods in Sri Lankan beekeeping are often time-consuming and less efficient, making hive management and health assessment challenging. This paper introduces a smart IoT-based beehive monitoring system tailored to the Sri Lankan beekeeping industry. The system integrates various sensors to measure key hive parameters, such as temperature, humidity, and weight, offering beekeepers a user-friendly web interface for real-time monitoring of hive conditions. It also provides insights into hive management aspects, including feeding needs, optimal harvesting times, and abnormal temperature detection within the hive. This paper highlights the initial steps towards implementing a robust IoT-based beehive monitoring system, acknowledging its current limitations. By addressing these limitations in the future, the authors aim to develop a more effective and efficient monitoring method for Sri Lankan beekeepers, saving time and enhancing the productivity and health of bee colonies. © 2024 IEEE.

Normally, the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal artifacts are removed in a particular sequence starting with baseline wander removal at the beginning. In this work, a methodology has been proposed using a novel algorithm called the Normalized Leaky Sign Regressor Least Mean Mixed Norm (NLSRLMMN) algorithm to remove multiple ECG artifacts such as baseline wander, motion artifacts, muscle artifacts, and power line interference randomly without following a particular sequence. Through rigorous simulations we have shown that if we remove multiple ECG artifacts randomly using our proposed approach then an improvement in signal to noise ratio and mean square error is observed as opposed to a conventional method that employs the Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm in all the cascaded adaptive noise canceller stages. © 2024 IEEE.

Maintaining performant code in a world of fast-evolving computer architectures and programming models poses a significant challenge to scientists. Typically, benchmark codes are used to model some aspects of a large application code's performance, and are easier to build and run. Such benchmarks can help assess the effects of code or algorithm changes, system updates, and new hardware. However, most performance benchmarks are not written using a wide range of GPU programming models. The RAJA Performance Suite provides a comprehensive set of computational kernels implemented in a variety of programming models. We integrated the performance measurement and analysis tools Caliper and Thicket into the RAJA Performance Suite to facilitate performance comparison across kernel implementations and architectures. This paper describes the RAJA Performance Suite, performance metrics that can be collected, and experimental analysis with case studies. The RAJA Performance Suite and integration of Caliper and Thicket enabled us to effectively measure the variety of implementations on the variety of hardware, and automatically characterize subsets of kernels which exhibit similar bottlenecks - and therefore perform similarly on new architectures which provide a different balance between resources such as FLOPS and memory bandwidth. We definitively demonstrate that the most memory bound kernels show the most performance gains on architectures with high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and that the kernels that have other bottleneck may, to a lesser extent, benefit from the higher-FLOPS GPUs. © 2024 IEEE.
