Target speaker extraction (TSE) aims to isolate a specific voice from multiple mixed speakers relying on a registerd sample. Since voiceprint features usually vary greatly, current end-to-end neural networks require large model parameters which are computational intensive and impractical for real-time applications, espetially on resource-constrained platforms. In this paper, we address the TSE task using microphone array and introduce a novel three-stage solution that systematically decouples the process: First, a neural network is trained to estimate the direction of the target speaker. Second, with the direction determined, the Generalized Sidelobe Canceller (GSC) is used to extract the target speech. Third, an Inplace Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network (ICRN) acts as a denoising post-processor, refining the GSC output to yield the final separated speech. Our approach delivers superior performance while drastically reducing computational load, setting a new standard for efficient real-time target speaker extraction. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Multipliers can be used to guarantee both the Lyapunov stability and input-output stability of Lurye systems with time-invariant memoryless slope-restricted nonlinearities. If a dynamic multiplier is used there is no guarantee the closedloop system has finite incremental gain. It has been suggested in the literature that without this guarantee such a system may be critically sensitive to time-varying exogenous signals including noise. We show that multipliers guarantee the power gain of the system to be bounded and quantifiable. Furthermore power may be measured about an appropriate steady state bias term, provided the multiplier does not require the nonlinearity to be odd. Hence dynamic multipliers can be used to guarantee Lurye systems have low sensitivity to noise, provided other exogenous systems have constant steady state. We illustrate the analysis with an example where the exogenous signal is a power signal with non-zero mean.

Hydride precipitation in niobium-based, superconducting circuits is a damaging side-effect of hydrofluoric acid treatments used to clean and thin the Nb surface oxides and Si oxides. The precipitate microstructure is difficult to probe because of the high hydrogen mobility in the niobium matrix. In particular, destructive techniques used to prepare samples for elemental depth profiling can change the hydride structure. Here, we use X-ray surface scattering to non-destructively probe the depth distribution of precipitates in hydrided, epitaxial, niobium thin films. We find that the niobium hydride is confined within the top 10 nm of the surface, and that the domains are discretely tilted with respect to the film’s surface crystallographic orientation. © 2025, CC BY.

Metamaterials have proven their ability to possess extraordinary physical properties distinct from naturally available materials,leading to exciting sensing functionalities and ***,metamaterial-based sensing applications suffer from severe performance limitations due to noise interference and design ***,we propose a dual-phase strategy that leverages loss-induced different Fano-resonant phases to access both destructive and constructive signals of molecular *** the two reverse signals are innovatively combined,the noise in the detection system is effectively suppressed,thereby breaking through the noise-related ***,by utilizing loss optimization of the plasmon-molecule coupling system,our dual-phase strategy enhances the efficiency of infrared energy transfer into the molecule without any additional fabrication complex,thereby overcoming the trade-off dilemma between performance and fabrication *** to the pioneering breakthroughs in the limitations,our dual-phase strategy possesses an overwhelming competitive advantage in ultrasensitive vibrational spectroscopy over traditional metamaterial technology,including strong signal strength(×4),high sensitivity(×4.2),effective noise suppression(30%),low detection limit(13 ppm),and excellent selectivity among CO_(2),NH_(3),and CH_(4) *** work not only opens the door to various emerging ultrasensitive detection applications,including ultrasensitive in-breath diagnostics and high-information analysis of molecular information in dynamic reactions,but also gains new insights into the plasmon-molecule interactions in advanced metamaterials.

Exceptional point (EP) has been captivated as a concept of interpreting eigenvalue degeneracy and eigenstate exchange in non-Hermitian physics. The chirality in the vicinity of EP is intrinsically preserved and usually immune to external bias or perturbation, resulting in the robustness of asymmetric backscattering and directional emission in classical wave fields. Despite recent progress in non-Hermitian thermal diffusion, all state-of-the-art approaches fail to exhibit chiral states or directional robustness in heat transport. Here we report the first discovery of chiral heat transport, which is manifested only in the vicinity of EP but suppressed at the EP of a thermal system. The chiral heat transport demonstrates significant robustness against drastically varying advections and thermal perturbations imposed. Our results reveal the chirality in heat transport process and provide a novel strategy for manipulating mass, charge, and diffusive light.

This note studies state estimation in wireless networked control systems with secrecy against eavesdropping. Specifically, a sensor transmits a system state information to the estimator over a legitimate user link, and an eavesdropper overhears these data over its link independent of the user link. Each connection may be affected by packet losses and is modeled by a finite-state Markov channel (FSMC), an abstraction widely used to design wireless communication systems. This paper presents a novel concept of optimal mean square expected secrecy over FSMCs and delineates the design of a secrecy parameter requiring the user mean square estimation error (MSE) to be bounded and eavesdropper MSE unbounded. We illustrate the developed results on an example of an inverted pendulum on a cart whose parameters are estimated remotely over a wireless link exposed to an eavesdropper.

In this paper, we propose an information geometry approach (IGA) for signal detection in ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. We formulate the signal detection as obtaining the marginals of the a posteriori probability distribution of the transmitted symbol vector. Then, a maximization of the a posteriori marginals (MPM) for signal detection can be performed. With the information geometry theory, we calculate the approximations of the a posteriori marginals. It is formulated as an iterative m-projection process. We then apply the central-limit-theorem (CLT) to simplify the calculation of the m-projection since the direct calculation of the m-projection is of exponential-complexity. With the CLT, we obtain an approximate solution of the m-projection, which is asymptotically accurate. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed IGA is a promising and efficient method to implement the signal detector in ultra-massive MIMO systems.

Generative AI (GAI) models have been rapidly advancing, with a wide range of applications including intelligent networks and mobile AI-generated content (AIGC) services. Despite their numerous applications and potential, such models create opportunities for novel security challenges. In this paper, we examine the challenges and opportunities of GAI in the realm of the security of intelligent network AIGC services such as suggesting security policies, acting as both a "spear" for potential attacks and a "shield" as an integral part of various defense mechanisms. First, we present a comprehensive overview of the GAI landscape, highlighting its applications and the techniques underpinning these advancements, especially large language and diffusion models. Then, we investigate the dynamic interplay between GAI’s spear and shield roles, highlighting two primary categories of potential GAI-related attacks and their respective defense strategies within wireless networks. A case study illustrates the impact of GAI defense strategies on energy consumption in an image request scenario under data poisoning attack. Our results show that by employing an AI-optimized diffusion defense mechanism, energy can be reduced by 8.7%, and retransmission count can be decreased from 32 images, without defense, to just 6 images, showcasing the effectiveness of GAI in enhancing network security. © 2023, CC BY.

INNSE: Invertible neural network-based DNA image storage with self-correction encoding

DNA storage has become an alternative to silicon-based storage of media. However, when used to store multimodal data such as images, it fails to take full advantage of the characteristics of high correlation and variability present in such data, and currently remains inferior in terms of encoding density and time complexity. It also has the shortcoming of weak performance in terms of error correction methods to address insertion and deletion errors caused by error crosstalk. Therefore, we proposed an invertible neural network-based DNA image storage self-correction encoding method (INNSE) that uses the invertibility of network to perform up-down sampling processing on image and video data, thereby greatly reducing the number of DNA sequences required for data storage. A codebook generator was then designed to encode low-dimensional vectors into DNA sequences that meet various constraints. Finally, a self-correction method was constructed to achieve DNA sequence error correction at the base level without adding any redundant information. Our experimental results showed that, compared to the Yin-Yang algorithm, the encoding density of INNSE was increased by 3×, encoding time complexity was reduced by 95.26%. Under a simulated error rate of 2%, PSNR and SSIM were raised by 80.88% and 63.82%, respectively, proving that INNSE has significant advantages in encoding performance and error correction ability.
