This research introduces a novel dual-pathway convolutional neural network (DP-CNN) architecture tailored for robust performance in Log-Mel spectrogram image analysis derived from raw multichannel electromyography signals. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of the proposed DP-CNN architecture across three datasets (NinaPro DB1, DB2, and DB3), encompassing both able-bodied and amputee subjects. Performance metrics, including accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, are employed for comprehensive evaluation. The DP-CNN demonstrates notable mean accuracies of 94.93 ± 1.71% and 94.00 ± 3.65% on NinaPro DB1 and DB2 for healthy subjects, respectively. Additionally, it achieves a robust mean classification accuracy of 85.36 ± 0.82% on amputee subjects in DB3, affirming its efficacy. Comparative analysis with previous methodologies on the same datasets reveals substantial improvements of 28.33%, 26.92%, and 39.09% over the baseline for DB1, DB2, and DB3, respectively. The DP-CNN’s superior performance extends to comparisons with transfer learning models for image classification, reaffirming its efficacy. Across diverse datasets involving both able-bodied and amputee subjects, the DP-CNN exhibits enhanced capabilities, holding promise for advancing myoelectric control. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.

Blockchain is a distributed ledger based on peer-to-peer networks, originally used for crypto-currency systems. Blockchains are being used as an enabling technology for decentralised applications in the areas of Internet-of-Things, finance, supply-chain and others. Consistency, data privacy, performance, and energy efficiency are of paramount importance in such applications. The full nodes of public, permissionless blockchains undertake the task of verifying the transactions generated by the network. Full nodes perform operations such as confirming balances, transactions, and history, i.e. mostly database search queries. Consequently, their throughput is crucial for the performance of blockchain systems. In this work, the benefits of accelerating the blockchain search and insert queries by leveraging GPU platforms are studied. An extensive comparison between the most dominant utilized database is provided, i.e. LevelDB, and MegaKV, a high-performance GPU-accelerated database. Realistic operations that take place in blockchain systems are emulated and evaluated over representative scenarios, showing three orders of magnitude gains in throughput and energy efficiency without compromising the security aspect. The extensive comparison between LevelDB and MegaKV indicates that GPU acceleration is an effective solution for runtime and energy efficiency enhancement of blockchain systems, and the integration of the two technologies is a promising field of research. © 2022 The Authors. Artificial ion channels that enable high-efficiency ion transport have important implications in nanofluidics and biomedical applications such as drug ***,we show a simulation-based chemical design of a biomimetic sodium channel that possesses permeation rate and selectivity potentially higher than those of the state-of-the-art natural vertebrate voltage-gated sodium ***,our theoretical findings have undergone empirical testing,aligning well with the Arrhenius law as derived from a diverse range of experimental *** high-efficiency ion transport is achieved by anchoring the carboxylate functional groups within the channel filter.A key chemical guiding principle underlying the ion channel design is that the free-energy barrier for the Na^(+)passage across the channel should be comparable to typical thermal energy at room *** the implementation of the chemical design,we found that the relatively low free-energy barrier can be attributed to the compensation effect of the carboxylate groups to the partially lost oxygen shell of the ion within the ion channel,as well as to the consonant vibration of the ions inside and outside the *** mechanistic understanding brings new insight,at the molecular level,into the high-efficiency ion transport across the designed membrane *** proof of principle achieved from the simulations will stimulate future experimental confirmation and potential applications of the high-performance artificial channels in nanofluidics and in bioinspired iontronics.

We propose a scalable, hierarchical qubit mapping and routing algorithm that harnesses the power of circuit synthesis. First, we decompose large circuits into subcircuits small enough to be directly resynthesized. For each block, we pre-synthesize them for all permutations of its input and output qubits. Following this offline step, we employ a permutation-aware, block-based generalization of the popular SABRE mapping algorithm. This mapping step stitches together blocks by choosing an input-output permutation that minimizes intrablock gate count and required inter-block communication (SWAP and bridge gates). Our approach has a twofold advantage: 1) circuit synthesis may eliminate more two-qubit gates than other optimizing compilers;2) considering all permutations of input and output qubits eliminates communication operations transparently. In contrast, other mapping algorithms can only introduce communication operations. We show that we can produce better-quality circuits than commercial compilers: shorter by up to 68% (18% on average) fewer gates than Qiskit, up to 36% (9% on average) fewer gates than Tket. We outperform BQSkit, a permutation-unaware, synthesis-based compiler, by up to 67% (21% on average) fewer gates. We also exceed experimental optimal mappers such as OLSQ in quality (10.7% shorter circuits) and time to solution. Our scalable, heuristic approach can be seamlessly integrated into any quantum circuit compiler or optimization infrastructure, and it applies well to any qubit technology, such as superconducting and trapped ions. © 2023 IEEE.

Autonomous Vehicle (AV) decision-making in ur-ban environments is inherently challenging due to the dynamic interactions with surrounding vehicles. For safe planning, AV/ego must understand the weightage of various spatiotemporal interactions in a scene. Contemporary works use colos-sal transformer architectures to encode interactions mainly for trajectory prediction, resulting in increased computational complexity. To address this issue without compromising spatiotemporal understanding and performance, we propose the simple Deep Attention Driven Reinforcement Learning (DAD-RL) framework, which dynamically assigns and incorporates the significance of surrounding vehicles into the ego's RL-driven decision-making process. We introduce an AV-centric spatiotemporal attention encoding (STAE) mechanism for learning the dynamic interactions with different surrounding vehicles. To understand map and route context, we employ a context encoder to extract features from context maps. The spatiotemporal representations combined with contextual encoding provide a comprehensive state representation. The resulting model is trained using the Soft-Actor Critic (SAC) algorithm. We evaluate the proposed framework on the SMARTS urban benchmarking scenarios without traffic signals to demonstrate that DAD-RL outperforms recent state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, an ablation study underscores the importance of the context-encoder and spatiotemporal attention encoder in achieving superior performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Education plays a pivotal role in individual development, imparting growth, values, and cultural understanding. In the realm of education, university education emerges as a transformative phase crucial for professional life. The selection of the right course during these formative years significantly shapes one's life trajectory. Amidst the complexities of this decision-making stage, exacerbated by societal pressures, pre-tertiary students often grapple with confusion. This research addresses the unique challenges faced by pre-tertiary students through the introduction of a Web-Based Admission Recommender System. Unlike existing systems, our recommender system empowers students to autonomously make well-informed decisions about their course of study, considering their distinctive abilities. The system integrates three crucial parameters: preferred core subjects' combination, Intelligence Quotient, and Career Interest. Implemented with the Catboost Classification utilizing the Gradient Boosting Algorithm, and featuring a user interface designed with Bootstrap 3, Python, and Flask, the system underwent rigorous testing with primary data from 346 secondary school students in their final year. The evaluation showcased commendable accuracy, with a notable 86.71% accuracy rate, 74.4% precision, 80% recall, and an 83% f1 score rate. This research makes distinctive contributions to the field by significantly enhancing the decision-making process for pretertiary students. The recommender system emerges as a reliable tool, uniquely positioned to guide students in selecting courses aligned with their individual capabilities and aspirations. By addressing the nuanced needs of pre-tertiary students, our research sets a new standard in personalized educational guidance. © 2024 IEEE.

The increasing integration of Unmanned Aircraft systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System necessitates the development of flight data recorder (FDR) recommendations tailored specifically for these systems. Traditional FDRs used in manned aviation are inadequate for capturing the flight data required for UAS operations. This study involved a detailed review of existing guidelines and regulations for manned aircraft FDRs, adapting and extending them to meet the unique needs of UAS operations. By drawing upon industry best practices and aca-demic research, a holistic framework for UAS FDRrecommendations is proposed. This framework out-lines the essential data parameters and recommended recording intervals required to facilitate detailed in-cident/accident investigations and continuous safety enhancements. Implementing UAS-specific FDR stan-dards is crucial for realizing the full potential of unmanned aviation while upholding stringent safety and operational standards. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the major concerns for the utilities in the Smart Grid(SG)is electricity *** the implementation of smart meters,the frequency of energy usage and data collection from smart homes has increased,which makes it possible for advanced data analysis that was not previously *** this purpose,we have taken historical data of energy thieves and normal *** avoid imbalance observation,biased estimates,we applied the interpolation ***,the data unbalancing issue is resolved in this paper by Nearmiss undersampling technique and makes the data suitable for further *** proposing an improved version of Zeiler and Fergus Net(ZFNet)as a feature extraction approach,we had able to reduce the model’s time *** minimize the overfitting issues,increase the training accuracy and reduce the training loss,we have proposed an enhanced method by merging Adaptive Boosting(AdaBoost)classifier with Coronavirus Herd Immunity Optimizer(CHIO)and Forensic based Investigation Optimizer(FBIO).In terms of low computational complexity,minimized over-fitting problems on a large quantity of data,reduced training time and training loss and increased training accuracy,our model outperforms the benchmark *** proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO andAda-FBIO,have the low MeanAverage Percentage Error(MAPE)value of error,i.e.,6.8%and 9.5%,***,due to the stability of our model our proposed algorithms Ada-CHIO and Ada-FBIO have achieved the accuracy of 93%and 90%.Statistical analysis shows that the hypothesis we proved using statistics is authentic for the proposed technique against benchmark algorithms,which also depicts the superiority of our proposed techniques.

Recent trends in Network Function Virtualization (NFV) combined with Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G applications have reshaped the network service offering. In particular, Service Function Chains (SFCs) can associate network functions with physical and virtual resources towards providing a complete network service. Concurrently, the management of a continuously expanding network and the fulfillment of the applications' requirements pave the way for autonomic network solutions. Intent Based Networking (IBN) is a novel paradigm that aims to achieve the automatic orchestration of network services and the assurance of their performance. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a novel automated network assurance model, based on Model Predictive Control, to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) and security requirements of multi-tenant and IBN-enabled SFCs. In this context, corrective decisions are proactively taken, in the form of incoming intent relocations among the SFCs. The results reveal that our model can assure with high probability the application requirements and minimize QoS violations. © 2023 IEEE.
