The interband Zener-Klein interband tunneling in the field-effect transistors (FETs) with the graphene channels consisting of the reverse-biased p-i-n junctions enables the negative dynamic conductance associated with the electrons and hole propagation delays. This can lead to the self-excitation of plasmons in the gated p- and n-regions. For the submicrometer gate lengths, the frequency of these plasmons is in the terahertz (THz) range. The plasmon self-excitation in this regime can be used for the generation of THz radiation. © 2023 IEEE.

Unconventional spin-orbit torques from sputtered MoTe2 films

Materials with strong spin-orbit coupling and low crystalline symmetry are promising for generating large unconventional spin-orbit torques (SOTs), such as in-plane fieldlike (FL) torques and out-of-plane dampinglike (DL) torques, which can effectively manipulate and deterministically switch an out-of-plane magnetization without the need for additional external in-plane magnetic fields. Here, we report SOTs generated by magnetron-sputtered 1T′MoTe2/Permalloy (Py; Ni80Fe20)/MgO heterostructures using both spin-torque ferromagnetic resonance (ST-FMR) and second harmonic Hall measurements. We observed unconventional FL and DL torques in our samples due to spins polarized normal to the interface of MoTe2 and Py layers, and studied the influence of crystallographic order and MoTe2 layer thickness on the SOTs. By comparing the Raman spectra of 1T′MoTe2 samples prepared in different ways, we found a tensile strain in sputtered MoTe2 films, which might further enhance the generation of unconventional torques by reducing the symmetry of 1T′MoTe2.

Recently,multimodal multiobjective optimization problems(MMOPs)have received increasing *** goal is to find a Pareto front and as many equivalent Pareto optimal solutions as *** some evolutionary algorithms for them have been proposed,they mainly focus on the convergence rate in the decision space while ignoring solutions *** this paper,we propose a new multiobjective fireworks algorithm for them,which is able to balance exploitation and exploration in the decision *** first extend a latest single-objective fireworks algorithm to handle *** we make improvements by incorporating an adaptive strategy and special archive guidance into it,where special archives are established for each firework,and two strategies(i.e.,explosion and random strategies)are adaptively selected to update the positions of sparks generated by fireworks with the guidance of special ***,we compare the proposed algorithm with eight state-of-the-art multimodal multiobjective algorithms on all 22 MMOPs from CEC2019 and several imbalanced distance minimization *** results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to compared algorithms in solving ***,its runtime is less than its peers'.

Detecting P300 event-related potentials (ERPs) from electroencephalography (EEG) finds applications in several domains including brain computer interfaces (BCIs). Due to the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), however, detecting P300 from single trials has been challenging. As a result, multiple repetitions are typically needed, extending the BCI decision time. To address this problem, in this paper, we present TopoEEG, a novel method that generates a sequence of topography-based images from EEG, to capture both spatial and temporal information. These sequences are subsequently processed using the state-of-the-art video classification technique, TimeSformer. Evaluated using the BCI Competition II (IIb) dataset, results demonstrate that TopoEEG achieves single-trial P300 detection with F1-scores of 0.6830 and 0.7134 within the first 500 ms and 600 ms, respectively. These results highlight TopoEEG's potential to enhance the efficiency and speed of BCIs by reducing the need for multiple repetitions and the time required for decision-making in single-trial P300 detection.

The future of 5G will focus on massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and many applications will be based on this application and gradually mature. These applications include smart cities, e-health, and the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). In addition, the Narrowband Internet of things (NB-IoT) is a critical technology in mMTC. NB-IoT can bring many benefits, such as efficient bandwidth use and long-distance transmission. However, although NB-IoT has many advantages, issues such as throughput, energy consumption, and security still need to be solved. In order to effectively solve these problems, the choice of cluster heads is very important. Considering that the energy consumption of the CH will be more severe than that of other devices, which will also shorten the network;therefore, we will focus on the dynamic cluster head selection. To solve this problem, we introduced the concept of the pseudo-rigid body into this paper and proposed a method similar pseudo-rigid body to determine the CHs;at the same time, we also defined the maximum range of each cluster. The experimental results show that the proposed method can dynamically select the CH and increase the network lifetime. © 2023 IEEE.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) with Deep Learning (DL) for Tweets Classification includes use of advanced neural network designs to analyse and classify Twitter messages. DL techniques like recurrent neural network (RNN) or transformer-based frameworks like BERT are used to mechanically learn difficult linguistic patterns and contextual info from tweet data. These techniques able to capture subtleties of language with sarcasm, sentiment, and context-specific meanings and making them suitable for tasks like sentiment analysis or topic classification in realm of social media. Leveraging deep symbols learned from great amounts of textual data, these NLP techniques permit precise and nuanced classification of tweets, donating to enhanced information retrieval, sentiment tracking, and trend analysis in dynamic and fast-paced world of social media communication. In this view, this research develops an arithmetic optimization algorithm with deep learning based tweets classification (AOADL-TC) approach for sustainable living. The goal of the AOADL-TC technique is to identify and discriminate different kinds of sentiments that exist in the tweet data. At the initial stage, the AOADL-TC model pre-processes tweet data to convert uniform data into a useful format. For sentiment detection, the AOADL-TC technique applies a parallel bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) model. At last, tuning of parameters related to parallel BiGRU model performed by AOA. An wide set of tests carried out to illustrate better performance of AOADL-TC model. The experimental outcomes portrayed that AOADL-TC technique demonstrates the supremacy of the AOADL-TC technique in terms of different evaluation metrics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

A state-dependent discrete memoryless multiple access channel is considered to model an integrated sensing and communication system, where two transmitters wish to convey messages to a receiver while simultaneously estimating the state parameter sequences through echo signals. In particular, the sensing state parameters are assumed to be correlated with the channel state. In this setup, improved inner and outer bounds for capacity-distortion region are derived. The inner bound is based on an achievable scheme that combines message cooperation and joint compression of past transmitted codewords and echo signals at each transmitter, resulting in unified cooperative communication and sensing. The outer bound is based on the ideas of dependence balance for communication rate, genie-aided state estimator and rate-limited constraints on sensing distortion. The proposed inner and outer bounds are proved to improve the state-of-the-art bounds. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate that our new inner and outer bounds strictly improve the existing results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Sentiment analysis within Online Social Networks (OSNs) becomes a major challenge. Mainly, because of the large amount of data on social networks and the mix of different languages that can be used in these environments. Due to the lack of existing research and datasets on code-switched Arabic-English sentiment analysis, this study creates a new dataset collected from various online social networks. The data is subjected to several preprocessing steps before being analyzed using various deep learning architectures. Moreover, a thorough evaluation of the preprocessing techniques and the performance of the deep learning models have been conducted. This is achieved using comprehensive Twitter datasets in Arabic and English. The study reveals that individual deep learning architectures, specifically, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), and LSTM demonstrated superior results compared to their hybrid counterparts. Notably, CNN emerged as the most accurate model with an accuracy of 83%, followed closely by Bi-LSTM at 82.3%. Additionally, the paper presents the deployment of an automated machine learning tool, which is Auto-Keras. Furthermore, it designs an optimized sentiment analysis model that aims to enhance accuracy. This approach leads to an increase in the model accuracy to 86%. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the rapid development of power electronics and new energy generation, conventional transformers cannot meet the higher requirements of intelligent grids due to a lack of controllability. While solid-state transformers (SSTs) are currently costly, making it impossible for them to be used widely in power networks. For this reason, a compromise solution of a hybrid transformer (HT) combining the traditional line frequency transformer (LFT) with power electronic devices has attracted more and more attention. Based on existing HT research, topologies of HT are classified according to installation position and connection type of power electronic devices. Rough theoretical analyses were carried out from the point of view of voltage compensation, current compensation, and power flow control. A review of HT topology in recent years is also included. © 2023 IEEE.

A typical VLSI design flow is divided into separated front-end logic synthesis and back-end physical design (PD) stages, which often require costly iterations between these stages to achieve design closure. Existing approaches face significant challenges, notably in utilizing feedback from physical metrics to better adapt and refine synthesis operations, and in establishing a unified and comprehensive metric. This paper introduces a new Primitive logic gate placement guided technology MAPping (PigMAP) framework to address these challenges. With approximating technology-independent spatial information, we develop a novel wirelength (WL) driven mapping algorithm to produce PD-friendly netlists. PigMAP is equipped with two schemes: a performance mode that focuses on optimizing the critical path WL to achieve high performance, and a power mode that aims to minimize the total WL, resulting in balanced power and performance outcomes. We evaluate our framework using the EPFL benchmark suites with ASAP7 technology, using the OpenROAD tool for place-and-route. Compared with OpenROAD flow scripts, performance mode reduces delay by 14% while increasing power consumption by only 6%. Meanwhile, power mode achieves a 3% improvement in delay and a 9% reduction in power consumption. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).
