The Philippines has launched Diwata satellites to undertake different scientific missions. Low-orbit microsatellites are prone to external disturbances affecting their pointing accuracy;hence, an autonomous attitude control mechanism is vital to its operations. Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has been proven effective in learning optimal control. There has been prior work regarding using DRL for the satellite’s reaction wheel attitude control in Mission, Attitude, and Telemetry Analysis (MATA)—a simulation environment using Unity for Diwata satellites. However, results show that the applied methods are sample inefficient and still underperform on specific metrics against Diwata’s current attitude control system. In addition, using Unity’s Machine Learning Agents toolkit (ML-Agents) limits the training to Soft-Actor Critic (SAC) and Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO). This study aims to extend the prior research using Twin-Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) and Prioritized Experience Replay (PER) to improve the performance and sample efficiency of the satellite agent. The training was done using OpenAI Gym connected to the MATA simulation environment. We conclude that TD3-PER outperforms the algorithms of SAC, PPO, and PID of the prior study in both sample efficiency and control performance. © 2022, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In this paper,we develop an efcient and accurate procedure of electromagnetic multipole decomposition by using the Lebedev and Gaussian quadrature methods to perform the numerical ***,we briefy review the principles of multipole decomposition,highlighting two numerical projection methods including surface and volume ***,we discuss the Lebedev and Gaussian quadrature methods,provide a detailed recipe to select the quadrature points and the corresponding weighting factor,and illustrate the integration accuracy and numerical efciency(that is,with very few sampling points)using a unit sphere surface and regular *** the demonstrations of an isotropic dielectric nanosphere,a symmetric scatterer,and an anisotropic nanosphere,we perform multipole decomposition and validate our numerical projection *** obtained results from our procedure are all consistent with those from Mie theory,symmetry constraints,and fnite element simulations.

Shear-stiffening materials have garnered significant attention due to their inherent ability to rapidly respond to changes in strain rate. However, conventional studies on these materials exhibit limited mechanical performance and insufficient structural design, hindering applications in material science and smart mechatronics. Inspired by the gradient structure of a squid beak, this study uses a direct-ink-writing (DIW) technology to develop a novel gradient shear-stiffening elastomer (GSSE). Comprehensive characterizations were conducted to optimize the printability of the shear-stiffening elastomer under various testing conditions, including rheology, compression, and tension. Additionally, the toughness and impact resistance of the elastomer were systematically investigated. It is demonstrated that the biomimetic GSSE exhibits enhanced flexibility, efficient energy dissipation, and outstanding impact resistance. Consequently, this work advances the field of shear-stiffening elastomers for diverse applications by leveraging the gradient structure design strategy to achieve superior mechanical performance under complex loading conditions. © 2025 The Author(s)

Drought is an environmental and economic problem. Sustainable ecosystems, water resources, food security, and ecosystem sustainability. Machine all are severely affected by drought. Due to the increasing frequency and severity of droughts caused by climate change. Effective drought modeling is crucial for early warning systems and risk mitigation. Recent advances in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have been developed as potential drought modeling tools, which offer accurate and reliable drought detection. This review paper summarizes the drought modeling(Drought Prediction, Drought Detection and Drought Forecasting) approaches. This paper focuses on three main aspect. 1) The selection of the region for this study, for this study South Asia(SA) is selected as region of interest (ROI) that offer accurate drought modeling, providing policymakers and decision-makers with insightful information. The geographical scope of this study is the region of South Asia. This region is selected because of its heavy reliance on agriculture. 2) This paper focuses on the current and future trends, challenges, and advances of and vulnerability to droughts. The review offers a thorough grasp of how drought conditions are evaluated by gathering and analyzing the most important drought indicators and metrics specific to South Asia. The paper explores the current state-of-the-art in ML and DL for drought modeling. 3) This review encapsulates the indicator and metrics (Complex Machine learning and deep learning models) for drought modeling which are most relevant to the SA region. This study sum up as most common challenges in drought modeling are, highlighting current challenges such as incomplete and inconsistent datasets, lack of explainable and interpretable models, and unavailability of data for model uncertainty analysis. Weighted vertex cover(WVC)is one of the most important combinatorial optimization *** this paper,we provide a new game optimization to achieve efficiency and time of solutions for the WVC problem of weighted *** first model the WVC problem as a general game on weighted *** the framework of a game,we newly define several cover states to describe the WVC ***,we reveal the relationship among these cover states of the weighted network and the strict Nash equilibriums(SNEs)of the ***,we propose a game-based asynchronous algorithm(GAA),which can theoretically guarantee that all cover states of vertices converging in an SNE with polynomial ***,we improve the GAA by adding 2-hop and 3-hop adjustment mechanisms,termed the improved game-based asynchronous algorithm(IGAA),in which we prove that it can obtain a better solution to the WVC problem than using a the ***,numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed IGAA can obtain a better approximate solution in promising computation time compared with the existing representative algorithms.

Bus-clamping Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is an effective method to reduce the switching loss in a three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI). In bus-clamping PWM scheme, the phase legs are switched using high frequency PWM signals for two-third of the line cycle, while for the remaining duration of cycle, the pole voltage is clamped to either positive or negative rail of the DC bus. In PWM operation of a half bridge, a dead-time is applied between the gate signals of complementary switches to ensure safe and reliable operation. However, introduction of dead-time leads to poor power quality, increased Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and variation in actual voltage compared to the intended pole voltage. Moreover, when the bus-clamping technique is used, the PWM has both high frequency switching region and clamped region in a line cycle, and consequently, the undesired effects of dead-time are further aggravated. Therefore, in order to enhance the quality of output voltage, this paper presents a dead-time compensation strategy for a VSI operating with bus-clamping PWM. The proposed method calculates the required compensation term to be added on the modulation signal considering wide range of operating conditions. Additionally, the compensation includes a new strategy for low current conditions near zero-crossing to avoid distortion. The proposed method is verified by simulation and experiments in a three-phase VSI with a switching frequency of 100 kHz and a fundamental frequency of 60Hz. © 2023 IEEE.

This study aims to classify brainwave patterns using electroencephalogram (EEG) signals in response to various auditory stimuli, specifically Quran recitation, participants' favorite music, and Interstellar's main theme. By analyzing the unique EEG responses elicited by these stimuli, the study explores cognitive and emotional processing differences. Two prominent classifiers, Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), were utilized. SVM, combined with Power Spectral Density (PSD) features, achieved the highest accuracy of 95% when distinguishing Quran recitation from rest. CNN, particularly with Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) features, exhibited strong performance in distinguishing between different auditory stimuli, with an average accuracy exceeding 90%. These results highlight the critical role of feature extraction techniques, such as PSD and KDE, in improving classification performance and deepening our understanding of EEG-based emotional and cognitive responses to auditory stimuli. © 2024 IEEE.
