This paper investigates the evolving landscape of EV traction inverters, addressing key technical goals outlined by US Drive and analyzing parameters such as voltage, power density, and efficiency. Through innovative methodologies, a high-efficiency SiC-based traction inverter is developed to overcome challenges like spatial constraints. Leveraging international benchmarks, a cutting-edge SiC-based 800V 243 kW traction inverter with a power density of 60 kW/L is presented, poised to surpass US Drive's 2025 targets. This study emphasizes SiC technology's role in advancing EV propulsion systems towards sustainable and efficient transportation solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article, we introduce a publicly available real-world dataset collected during the Aegean Ro-Boat Race 2023, which took place at the University of the Aegean in Syros, Greece. The Aegean Ro-Boat Race represents an international competition at the university level, challenging teams to innovate and develop autonomous marine robotic systems capable of performing in unknown dynamic maritime environments under real-world conditions. The 2023 competition featured three primary mission tasks, each designed to test different aspects of the robotic systems: 1) high-speed performance for evaluating the speed and agility of the autonomous vessels; 2) collision avoidance for assessing the systems’ ability to detect and avoid obstacles in real-time; and 3) endurance for testing the operational longevity and efficiency of the robotic systems over extended periods. In total, seven teams registered for the competition, with five of them being from Greece and two from the countries of Portugal and Latvia. Due to several technical difficulties, three vessels were able to complete all races, and data were recorded during their entire participation. The spatiotemporal data for the “Aegean Ro-Boat Race” was gathered through an onboard data logging system that continuously monitored various sensors, including global positioning system (GPS), for all vessels during the entire competition. The dataset includes positional reports from the vessels during all three races (totaling over 6500 records), the positions of the external track and obstacle buoys, together with a file regarding the weather conditions during the race day. The armature coil of the superconducting synchronous motor for electric aircraft requires a current of 1,000 A or more. However, a single superconducting tape at liquid nitrogen temperatures is insufficient for this operating current. Therefore, the armature coil should be composed of multi-strand parallel conductors. If the coil is constructed from parallel conductors, the inductance balance between the parallel conductors will be collapsed, so the current distributions will be non-uniform. As a solution for this issue, the uniform current distribution can be achieved by the transposition technique that changes the order in which tapes are stacked. Our previous research has developed the transposition method for the 2n-strand parallel conductors (n = 1, 2, 3, and so on). However, some of the superconducting synchronous motors are actually designed using a number of parallel conductors other than 2n. This study focused on the three- and the six-strand parallel conductors. We analytically clarified the unique transposition configuration for the three-strand parallel conductors that achieves uniform current distribution, and the transposition configuration for the six-strand parallel conductors by combining the transposition configuration for the three- and two-strand parallel conductors. As a result, the current distribution ratio became less than ±5% when the number of turns of the double pancake coil was a multiple of six by applying the transposition. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Bremsstrahlung—the spontaneous emission of broadband radiation from free electrons that are deflected by atomic nuclei—contributes to the majority of X-rays emitted from X-ray tubes and used in applications ranging from medical imaging to semiconductor chip ***,we show that the bremsstrahlung intensity can be enhanced significantly—by more than three orders of magnitude—through shaping the electron wavefunction to periodically overlap with atoms in crystalline ***,we show how to shape the bremsstrahlung X-ray emission pattern into arbitrary angular emission profiles for purposes such as unidirectionality and ***,we find that these enhancements and shaped emission profiles cannot be attributed solely to the spatial overlap between the electron probability distribution and the atomic centers,as predicted by the paraxial and nonrecoil theory for free electron light *** work highlights an unprecedented regime of free electron light emission where electron waveshaping provides multi-dimensional control over practical radiation processes like *** results pave the way towards greater versatility in table-top X-ray sources and improved fundamental understanding of quantum electron-light interactions.

Non-orthogonal multiple access is one of the best methods for addressing the needs of 5G wireless services (NOMA). The proliferation of mobile devices in recent years has increased the importance of cooperative spectrum sharing and utilization in wireless communication due to increases in the bit error rate (BER) brought on by collisions and interference. In this study, MIMO and Massive MIMO (M-MIMO) in the downlink (DL) NOMA power domain (PD) in conjunction with the Cooperative Cognitive Radio Network are proposed as two new ways for improving and evaluating BER in the 5G network (CCRN). Customers of NOMA compete for available channels on the CCRN in this first strategy. The second approach creates a dedicated channel for NOMA users. Three scenarios with varying distances, power location coefficients, and transmission power are used to evaluate the proposed methods in the MATLAB software program. It is assumed that four users will share a 90 MHz BW using QPSK modulation in all three scenarios. When evaluating the performance of the suggested system under the presumption of frequency-selective Rayleigh fading, concurrent interference cancellation (SIC) and unstable channel conditions are also considered. © 2023 IEEE.

Smartphones as a means of communication are not only used to send and receive messages and make phone calls. Today's smartphones are also intended to store personal data and sensitive information hence it is vulnerable to be illegally accessed by others. Fingerprint as a biometric lock screen for smartphones can be trusted to ensure the security and privacy of smartphone users. A fingerprint is closely related to a user's identity. When using fingerprints, users provide their personal biometric pattern, unknowingly giving their privacy and making them vulnerable to unauthorized use of their biometric pattern. This study is designed to reveal the factors that influence users when using fingerprints as a smartphone lock, using eight variables adapted from previous research. The data analysis used is Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis. The results of this study suggest that trust, attitudes, and perceived risk are the factors that influence users when using their fingerprint as a smartphone lock.

Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) task plays a crucial role in clinical treatment and drug development. Recently, deep learning methods have been successfully applied for DDI prediction. However, training deep learning models always need large amount of data, while known DDIs are scarce. To address this challenge, a graph neural network-based DDI prediction model named PNESR-DDI is proposed, which compensates for the lack of DDIs by enriching drug representations. First, to obtain initial node representations that incorporate rich semantic information from the biomedical knowledge graph (KG), a link prediction pre-training method on external KG is proposed in the node embedding pre-training module. Then, considering the large scale of the KG, subgraph extraction for the target drug pairs is introduced to reduce noise and decrease computational complexity in the subgraph anchoring module. After that, the subgraph is updated, and node similarities are propagated in the subgraph reconstruction module. Based on the node similarity scores, the subgraph is pruned and reconstructed, which adjusts node representations to be more conducive to DDI prediction. Finally, the drug embeddings, subgraph representations, and drug fingerprint features are concatenated to predict DDIs. PNESRDDI is evaluated on two benchmark DDI datasets: DrugBank and TWOSIDES. Experiment results show that PNESR-DDI achieves better performance than baselines. Ablation results validate the effectiveness of the pre-training method and the adaptive subgraph reconstruction strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

Dual Radial-Resonant Wide Beamwidth Circular Sector Microstrip Patch Antennas

In this article, a design approach to a radial-resonant wide beamwidth circular sector patch antenna is advanced. As properly evolved from a U-shaped d ipole, a prototype magnetic dipole can be fit in the radial direction of a circular sector patch radiator, with its length set as the positive odd-integer multiples of onequarter wavelength. In this way, multiple TM0m（m = 1,2,...） modes resonant circular sector patch antenna with short-circuited circumference and widened E-plane beamwidth can be realized by proper excitation and perturbations. Prototype antennas are then designed and fabricated to validate the design approach. Experimental results reveal that the E-plane beamwidth of a dual-resonant antenna fabricated on air/Teflon substrate can be effectively broadened to 128°/120°, with an impedance bandwidth of 17.4%/7.1%, respectively. In both cases, the antenna heights are strictly limited to no more than 0.03-guided wavelength. It is evidently validated that the proposed approach can effectively enhance the operational bandwidth and beamwidth of a microstrip patch antenna while maintaining its inherent low profile merit.
