In 2016, ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and ISO/IEC MPEG finalize the recent 3-dimensional video coding standard founded on Multi-view texture Videos plus Depth maps (MVD) format called, the 3D extension of High-Efficiency Video Coding (3D-HEVC). In the current design of 3D-HEVC, the conventional intra-prediction modes and Depth Modeling Modes are exploited sophistically to improve the depth map coding performance. However, the coding efficiency improvement is achieved at the cost of computational complexity load, which obstructs 3D-High Efficiency Video Coding standards from practical world applications. In the 3D-HEVC, the depth maps are described by enormous homogeneous regions, and it is observed that for most of the cases, the DMMs and all or the majority of angular intra modes could be skipped for the homogenous area. Thus, we propose an efficient intra-coding model decision for a depth map founded on the clustering algorithm and edge detection to resolve the above-mentioned complexity increase. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed intra-coding model decision for depth map can decrease the encoding time up to 41.35%, with insignificant loss of rate-distortion performance. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

The noise margin during the write operation in SRAMs is investigated by implementing a negative bitline voltage scheme in this paper. Negative bitline improves the write static noise margin of the SRAM bitcells during a write operation;however, this can cause degraded hold static noise margin of unaccessed cells in the array, called column half-select. Applying a negative wordline voltage on unaccessed rows in an array under negative bitline shows that the degraded hold static noise margin of unaccessed cells can be improved. Fundamentally, the dependence of negative bitline on Vmin,hold of unaccessed cells is negated by applying negative wordline. This allows for a more aggressive scaling of Vmin,hold, resulting in a 77.8% reduction in static power. By applying a complementary negative wordline voltage to counter the half-select condition in columns, the write static noise margin of cells in accessed rows was also boosted by 23% without any degradation in hold static margins of unaccessed cells. © 2023 IEEE.

Direct policy search has been widely applied in modern reinforcement learning and continuous control. However, the theoretical properties of direct policy search on nonsmooth robust control synthesis have not been fully understood. The optimal H1 control framework aims at designing a policy to minimize the closed-loop H1 norm, and is arguably the most fundamental robust control paradigm. In this work, we show that direct policy search is guaranteed to find the global solution of the robust H1 state-feedback control design problem. Notice that policy search for optimal H1 control leads to a constrained nonconvex nonsmooth optimization problem, where the nonconvex feasible set consists of all the policies stabilizing the closed-loop dynamics. We show that for this nonsmooth optimization problem, all Clarke stationary points are global minimum. Next, we identify the coerciveness of the closed-loop H1 objective function, and prove that all the sublevel sets of the resultant policy search problem are compact. Based on these properties, we show that Goldstein* subgradient method and its implementable variants can be guaranteed to stay in the nonconvex feasible set and eventually find the global optimal solution of the H1 state-feedback synthesis problem. Our work builds a new connection between nonconvex nonsmooth optimization theory and robust control, leading to an interesting global convergence result for direct policy search on optimal H1 synthesis. © 2022 Neural information processing systems foundation. The influence of automation in the agriculture and construction industry plays a vital role in the development of the economic backbone of any country. The factors such as power, torque and speed are efficiently controlled by automation devices using Internet of things (IoT). The heavy vehicles are the multi-faced application carrier which is been used in construction, agriculture, mining and other heavy-duty fields. This research focuses on developing a IoT integrated sensor-based obstacle detection system for programmed autonomous heavy vehicles which will improve safety in both on-road and off-road construction. The automation process consists of two main categories: Observing the environment and recognizing the activities. The environment in our case is both highways and rural roads. An intelligent- camera is utilised to capture the activities from the captured video and process the data. A LiDAR sensor performs the obstacle detection process using laser reflection technology and an ultrasonic sensor is used to process the vibration and sound produced by the obstacle or upcoming vehicles. These three sensors are integrated with a controller-based device to be powered by the power distribution system in the programmed autonomous heavy vehicle. © 2023 IEEE.

DC Microgrids are rapidly developing, driven by the increasing integration of renewable sources and dynamic loads. Their growing adoption in critical applications raises the need for operational safety and reliability, particularly under fault conditions. This paper presents a sensor fault-tolerant control (FTC) for DC-DC power converters in DC Microgrids designed to maintain resilient and reliable operation. The proposed FTC leverages a single Switching Unknown Input Observer (SW-UIO) at the bottom control level to estimate arbitrary sensor faults with a high accuracy (0.3% fault estimation error), allowing a real-time identification and precise control reconfiguration to accommodate sensor faults with minimal computational burden. The approach is validated under diverse conditions, including time-varying loads, complete sensor failure, noise abnormality, and simultaneous faults/failure, achieving a consistent fault accommodation of 1μs from fault occurrence to compensation. Real-time simulation has been performed in the OPAL-RT environment to assess the efficacy and superiority of the proposed sensor fault tolerant strategy in comparison to reference FTC strategies. © 2013 IEEE.

Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Transistors have garnered attention as promising solutions for high-power and high-frequency applications, attributed to their exceptional features such as high electron mobility, high breakdown voltage, and wide bandgap. However, the efficacy of GaN HEMTs is challenged by some restrictive phenomena, notably self-heating and thermal effects. This paper presents experimental results from DC analysis conducted on different GaN HEMT devices featuring various numbers of fingers, alongside an examination of the thermal impact on device performance. The correlation between finger count in multi-finger HEMTs and device performance is explored, followed by a discussion on mitigation strategies aimed at optimizing device design and structures to address these challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a RAZOR-based in-situ monitoring scheme is described for process variation characterization and silicon debug in SRAM arrays. The scheme can identify whether the datapath being monitored has slowed-down due to process variation or hard errors. This information can be used to estimate the impact of process variation or hard errors on memory access time setting critical path in SRAM arrays. Pre-silicon characterized datapath delay via selectable data delay lines referred to as data TRIMs are obtained via SPICE simulations. These pre-silicon data TRIMs, along with post-silicon error output can be used to estimate the datapath slow-down with a margin of error. The margin of error can be reduced by using finer granularity in data TRIMs but comes at the cost of area and power overheads. The scheme can be shared across multiple SRAM arrays, and can also be used in a column-by-column manner to test memory access time with respect to individual bitcells in an array. This provides a deep level of visibility into SRAM macros post-silicon for debug purposes too. The scheme can estimate the slow-down on memory access time setting critical path in global TT corner with up to 99.2 % accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Data center power supply units (PSU) have high power density due to the increasing power demand and their low profiles. Air cooling proves to be increasingly difficult in mitigating the hot spots, and it also consumes extra energy in fluid delivery, air conditioning, and rejection to the ambience. In this work, we redesign and modify the PSU cooling infrastructure and adopt quiescent immersion cooling. This design removes all active air-cooling elements and enables heat capture. The PSU used in the experiments is a 2 kW 80 Plus Platinum commercial unit (Bel PET2000-12-074RA). The cooling performance was characterized by tracking the steady-state case temperatures of the switching semiconductors. Flutec PP1 was used to study the cooling performance variations with respect to PSU load and capture temperature. Conventional fan-cooled PSU with heat sinks served as the benchmark. Experiments show that two-phase immersion cooling grants an overall enhancement of 4.4× over the original air-cooling approach at 40 °C heat capture. The results suggest that heat rejection from the dielectric fluid to the riding heatsink is the main bottleneck, and further reduction of the thermal resistance would allow heat capture at a temperature closer to the liquid boiling point. The PSU thermal management approach studied here can help lower data center power usage effectiveness (PUE) while increasing PSU power delivery density. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper focuses on a navigation of a Dubins vehicle (DV) to intercept a moving target on a sphere. The uncertainty in the target motion is described by a Brownian motion model. An Itô-type stochastic differential equation for the relative motion between DV and the Brownian moving target is derived. This stochastic differential equation is used to formulate an intercept controller as a minimum time optimal controller. The properties of the controller are incorporated into the numerical computations of the controller, which by its construction can intercept a Brownian target. Our numerical simulation results show that the computed controller can intercept both stationary and moving targets on the sphere. © 2024 IEEE.
