As Metaverse emerges as the next-generation Internet paradigm, the ability to efficiently generate content is paramount. AI-Generated Content (AIGC) emerges as a key solution, yet the resource-intensive nature of large Generative AI (GAI) models presents challenges. To address this issue, we introduce an AIGC-as-a-Service (AaaS) architecture, which deploys AIGC models in wireless edge networks to ensure broad AIGC services accessibility for Metaverse users. Nonetheless, an important aspect of providing personalized user experiences requires carefully selecting AIGC Service Providers (ASPs) capable of effectively executing user tasks, which is complicated by environmental uncertainty and variability. Addressing this gap in current research, we introduce the AI-Generated Optimal Decision (AGOD) algorithm, a diffusion model-based approach for generating the optimal ASP selection decisions. Integrating AGOD with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), we develop the Deep Diffusion Soft Actor-Critic (D2SAC) algorithm, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ASP selection. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that D2SAC outperforms seven leading DRL algorithms. Furthermore, the proposed AGOD algorithm has the potential for extension to various optimization problems in wireless networks, positioning it as a promising approach for future research on AIGC-driven services. In the context of achieving Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in hospitals, among others, it is carried out with control and supervision, including in the case of hospital facility maintenance installations. Besides that, the hospital needs to improve its services. The asset reporting system is one of the high needs in this field, so it requires a solution that can deal with existing problems. Unfortunately, the current reporting system so far is more likely to be conventional, such as by telephone. This study proposes a new solution to the hospital facility maintenance reporting process, namely by utilising smartphone-based applications that directly connected to the server. So, the information distributed to the competent parties. This solution can speed up the reporting process and actions. We observed that, in an undoped GaAs 1-x N x single epilayer, terahertz electromagnetic waves from coherent GaAs-like longitudinal optical (LO) phonons have a long decay time in comparison with terahertz waves from coherent LO phonons in a GaAs single crystal. We attributed the origin of the present phenomena to the fact photogenerated electron-LO-phonon scattering is suppressed owing to reduction of the ultrafast photocurrent acceleration that originates both from relatively large electron effective mass caused by the band anticrossing and from the alloying effect due to the nitridation.

Industrial adoption of microalgae biofuel technology has always been hindered by its economic viability. To increase the feasibility of bioethanol production from microalgae, fermentation was applied to Chlorella vulgaris FSP-E biomass at high-solid-loading conditions. First, Chlorella vulgaris FSP-E was cultivated to produce microalgae biomass with high carbohydrate content. Next, different ethanol-producing microorganisms were screened. Saccharomyces cerevisiae FAY-1 showed no inhibition when fermenting high initial glucose concentrations and was selected for the fermentation experiments at high solids loading. Optimization of acid hydrolysis at high biomass loading was also performed. The fermentation of microalgal biomass hydrolysate produced a final ethanol concentration and yield higher than most reported literature using microalgae feedstock. In addition, the kinetics of bioethanol fermentation of microalgae hydrolysate under high solid loading were evaluated. These results show the potential of fermenting microalgae biomass at high solids loading in improving the viability of microalgae bioethanol production. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recent reports on thermal and thermoelectric properties of emerging 2-Dimensional (2D) materials have shown promising results. Yet, most of these emerging materials are underrepresented or lack a consistent and thorough investigation. Among these materials are Zirconium based chalcogenides such as Zirconium Disulfide (ZrS2) and Zirconium Dieselenide (ZrSe2). Here, we investigate the thermal properties of these Zirconium based materials using confocal Raman spectroscopy. We observed 2 different and distinctive Raman signatures for exfoliated ZrX2 (where X = S or Se). These Raman modes generally depend on the shape of the exfoliated nanosheets, regardless of the incident laser polarization. These 2 shapes are divided into 2D- ZrX2 and quasi 1D- ZrX2. For 2D- ZrX2, Raman modes are in alignment with those reported in literature. However, for quasi 1D-ZrX2, we show that Raman modes are identical to exfoliated ZrX3 nanosheets, indicating a major lattice transformation from 2D to quasi-1D. We also measure thermal properties of each resonant Raman mode for each ZrX2 shape. Based on our measurements, most Raman modes exhibit a linear downshift dependence with temperature. However, for ZrS2, we see an upshift (blueshift) with temperature for A1g mode, which is attributed to non-harmonic effects caused by dipolar coupling with IR-active modes. Moreover, the observed temperature dependence coefficient for some phonon modes of quasi 1D-ZrX2 differ dramatically, which can be caused by the quasi 1D lattice. Finally, we measure phonon dynamics under optical heating for each of 2D-ZrX2 and quasi 1D-ZrX2 and show phonon confinement in quasi 1D-ZrX2 nanosheets. We extract the thermal conductivity and the interfacial thermal conductance for each of 2D-ZrX2 and quasi 1D-ZrX2 nanosheets. Our calculations indicate lower interfacial thermal conductance for quasi 1D-ZrX2 compared to 2D-ZrX2, which can be attributed to the phonon confinement in 1D. Low-temperature Pb-free solders are in demand to alleviate the warpage issue for high-density fine-pitch packaging. We designed a low-temperature tin-bismuth-silver Sn-Bi-Ag solder by CALculation of PHAse Diagram-type thermodynamic calculations using the PANDAT software and performed corresponding key experiments. The goal is to improve Sn-Bi solder's mechanical properties while keeping their low melting temperatures. The DSC measurement shows the solidus of Sn-Bi-Ag was 135.0 °C. Higher (Sn) phase fraction, low IMC fraction, and low IMC, finer (Sn) + (Bi) eutectic spacing of Sn-Bi-Ag led to the high yield strength, high ultimate tensile strength, toughness, and better elongation in as-cast after the tensile test. Furtherly, we found Ag and Sn doping in (Bi) polycrystals induced tensile stress in the (Bi) lattice and it led to the different solution effects in each (Bi) orientation. It could alleviate the anisotropic mechanical properties of (Bi) and avoid concentrated force on the weak grains. © 2023 Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging.

DH-GAN: A PHYSICS-DRIVEN UNTRAINED GENERATIVE ADVERSARIAL NETWORK for 3D MICROSCOPIC IMAGING USING DIGITAL HOLOGRAPHY

Digital holography is a 3D imaging technique by emitting a laser beam with a plane wavefront to an object and measuring the intensity of the diffracted waveform, called holograms. The object's 3D shape can be obtained by numerical analysis of the captured holograms and recovering the incurred phase. Recently, deep learning (DL) methods have been used for more accurate holographic processing. However, most supervised methods require large datasets to train the model, which is rarely available in most DH applications due to the scarcity of samples or privacy concerns. A few one-shot DL-based recovery methods exist with no reliance on large datasets of paired images. Still, most of these methods often neglect the underlying physics law that governs wave propagation. These methods offer a black-box operation, which is not explainable, generalizable, and transferrable to other samples and applications. In this work, we propose a new DL architecture based on generative adversarial networks that uses a discriminative network for realizing a semantic measure for reconstruction quality while using a generative network as a function approximator to model the inverse of hologram formation. We impose smoothness on the background part of the recovered image using a progressive masking module powered by simulated annealing to enhance the reconstruction quality. The proposed method is one of its kind that exhibits high transferability to similar samples, which facilitates its fast deployment in time-sensitive applications without the need for retraining the network. The results show a considerable improvement to competitor methods in reconstruction quality (about 5 dB PSNR gain) and robustness to noise (about 50% reduction in PSNR vs noise increase rate). © 2022, CC BY.

In this work we will discuss the use of a halide-assisted low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (HA-LPCVD) with NaCl to help facilitate the growth of monolayer WSe2 at low growth temperatures of ∼ 750oC, which is lower than the typical temperatures needed with conventional CVD for realizing monolayer (1L) WSe2. Moreover, we experimentally probed the quantum multi-body interactions in 1L WSe2 ascribed to excitons, trions and other localized states by analyzing the temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra. A 1L WSe2 based photodetector was fabricated using Al contacts, which shows a high photoresponsivity, and the interface state trap density (Dit) of the Al/WSe2 junction was computed to be extremely low. Hybrids of two-dimensional (2D) graphene with fullerene (C60) molecules were also fabricated using electrophoretic deposition, where the C60 clusters are electrically charged upon the application of an external bias in a polar solvent. A low energy shift in the Fermi level EF ∼ 140 meV was calculated for the hybrids. When the hybrid devices were irradiated with a broadband white light source and a tunable laser source (with wavelength λ ranging from ∼ 400-1100 nm), a strong photoresponse was evident, in contrast to the bare graphene devices which appeared unresponsive. We will discuss the strong photo-response of the C60-graphene hybrids reported here which we attribute to the doping enhancement arising in the graphene upon the adsorption of C60. © 2020 ECS - The Electrochemical Society.

Angular momentum (AM), a fundamental concept describing the rotation of an object about an axis, profoundly influences all branches of physics. In condensed matter, AM is intimately related to the emergence of topological quantum states, including chiral superconductivity and quantum spin liquids1, and various chiral quasiparticles2-4. Recently, it has been predicted that microscopic lattice excitations, known as phonons, can carry finite AM4 with remarkable macroscopic physical consequences5-11. However, the direct observation of phonon-AM has not been achieved. In this letter, we report the experimental discovery of phonon-AM in the chiral crystal Tellurium. We show that due to AM conservation, applying a time-reversal symmetry breaking thermal gradient along the chiral axis of single crystal Te results in a macroscopic mechanical torque, τ, that can be observed using a cantilever-based device. We establish that the mechanical torques change sign by flipping the thermal gradient and disappear in polycrystalline samples that lack a preferred chirality. Based on our experimental settings, we estimate τ~ 10-11 N ∙ m, in agreement with theoretical calculations. Topological magnetic solitons, such as skyrmions, exhibit intriguing particle-like properties that make them attractive for fundamental research and practical applications. While many magnetic systems can host skyrmions as statically stable configurations, chiral magnets stand out for their ability to accommodate a wide diversity of skyrmions with arbitrary topological charges and varied morphologies. Despite extensive investigation, a complete understanding of chiral magnetic skyrmions has remained elusive. We present a classification of all chiral skyrmions, demonstrating three classes based on their response to external magnetic field pulses: stationary, translating, and rotating. We highlight the role of magnetic texture symmetry in this classification. Skyrmions with varied dynamics offer avenues for exploring phenomena like skyrmion-skyrmion scattering that might be crucial for future applications. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
