The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates advanced integration techniques with the power grid to maximize efficiency and sustainability. This research explores the application of soft sets theory to enhance decision-making processes in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V), and charging infrastructure systems. Soft sets theory, known for handling uncertainties and imprecision, offers a robust framework for managing the complex variables involved in electric mobility. This study develops a decision-making model incorporating soft sets to evaluate and optimize various scenarios and strategies in electric mobility. The effectiveness of model is validated through case studies and simulation, demonstrating significant improvements in grid stability, economic feasibility, and user satisfaction. The findings underscore the potential of soft sets theory to address the challenges and leverage the opportunities in the evolving landscape of electric mobility. © 2024 IEEE.

The total labeling of a graph G = (V, E) is a bijection from the union of the vertex set and the edge set of G to the set {1, 2, . . . , |V(G)| + |E(G)|}. The edge-weight of an edge under a total labeling is the sum of the label of the edge and the labels of the end vertices of that edge. The vertexweight of a vertex under a total labeling is the sum of the label of the vertex and the labels of all the edges incident with that vertex. A total labeling is called edge-magic or vertex-magic when all the edge-weights or all the vertex-weights are the same, respectively. When all the edge-weights or all the vertex-weights are different then a total labeling is called edge-antimagic or vertex-antimagic total, respectively. In this paper we deal with the problem of finding a total labeling of some classes of graphs that is simultaneously vertex-magic and edge-antimagic or simultaneously vertex-antimagic and edge-magic, respectively. This letter proposes a deep neural network (DNN)-based direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation approach. Novel DOA selection methods, threshold selection and peak selection, are utilized to select the DOA from the DNN outputs. Unlike conventional methods that require prior knowledge of the number of incoming waves, the proposed network architecture offers a more flexible approach to tracking and positioning without knowing the number of incoming waves in advance. Moreover, an amendment to reduce output near the peak point is proposed to reduce DOA estimation errors. The flexibility opens up new possibilities and has demonstrated high DOA estimation accuracy for multiple incident waves. © 2024 IEEE.

Real-time power flow analysis and management for a long-endurance solar UAV during continuous flight

One of the primary challenges for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developers is to improve their endurance while in the air, as their typical flight time is limited to a few hours. One widely used technology to enhance their endurance is harnessing solar energy to power UAV and charge their batteries in flight. This article presents the development of a real-time simulation environment to enable the continuous flight of the Sky Sailor solar UAV. Through the utilization of a solar irradiance model, a solar panel model, real-time power generation is calculated. Simultaneously, the UAV’s full dynamic model, along with the autopilot and propulsion system model, is employed to determine the energy consumption at each moment. The energy management algorithm then compares the acquired energy with the power consumed, and in cases of surplus energy, it is efficiently stored in the battery for nighttime usage. Simulations show that continuous flight of the drone can be achieved during the summer season, when the daylight hours are long enough to fully charge the battery, With the ability to fly continuously during this period, the UAV can be used in various areas, such as monitoring forest fires, agricultural fields, beaches, and security monitoring for oil companies and their life bases in deserts. © 2023, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.

In the context of this investigation, we introduce an innovative mathematical model designed to elucidate the intricate dynamics underlying the transmission of Anthroponotic Cutaneous Leishmania. This model offers a comprehensive exploration of the qualitative characteristics associated with the transmission process. Employing the next-generation method, we deduce the threshold value R0 for this model. We rigorously explore both local and global stability conditions in the disease-free scenario, contingent upon R0 being less than unity. Furthermore, we elucidate the global stability at the disease-free equilibrium point by leveraging the Castillo-Chavez method. In contrast, at the endemic equilibrium point, we establish conditions for local and global stability, when R0 exceeds unity. To achieve global stability at the endemic equilibrium, we employ a geometric approach, a Lyapunov theory extension, incorporating a secondary additive compound matrix. Additionally, we conduct sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of various parameters on the threshold number. Employing center manifold theory, we delve into bifurcation analysis. Estimation of parameter values is carried out using least squares curve fitting techniques. Finally, we present a comprehensive discussion with graphical representation of key parameters in the concluding section of the paper. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press. Ceramic waveguide filters have been popular in 5G wireless system *** article proposes an effective solution to enable the ceramic waveguide filter to be electrically *** detail,a new varactor-tunable structure is developed to electrically control the resonant frequency(TE101 mode)of the ceramic waveguide *** novel coupling and feeding con-figurations are investigated,thus allowing the coupling coefficient and external quality factor(Qe)to be flexibly specified according to the prescribed *** element variable coupling matrices(EVCMs)for two-pole,three-pole cascade triplet(CT),four-pole cascade quadruplet(CQ),six-pole CT,and six-pole CQ filters with constant bandwidth are prescribed as the electrically-tunable *** the designs for the lossless filters are presented,and design results in agreement with the theory ones demonstrate the correctness of the proposed *** six-pole tunable CQ and CT filters are fabricated and assembled with the commercial-available *** measurement results show that the quasi-elliptic responses of two six-pole ceramic filters can be tuned from 3.4 GHz to 3.8 GHz by adjusting the tuning ***,the loading impact of the varactors on the unloaded quality factor(Qu)of the filter is further discussed.A fixed filter and an additional tunable filter are implemented and used to verify the investigation.

Mobile edge computing is becoming one of the ubiquitous computing paradigms to support applications requiring low latency and high computing capability. FPGA-based reconfigurable accelerators have high energy efficiency and low latency compared to general-purpose servers. Therefore, it is natural to incorporate reconfigurable accelerators in mobile edge computing systems. This paper formulates and studies the problem of joint task offloading, access point selection, and resource allocation in heterogeneous edge environments for latency minimization. Due to the heterogeneity in edge computing devices and the coupling between offloading, access point selection, and resource allocation decisions, it is challenging to optimize over them simultaneously. We decomposed the proposed problem into two disjoint subproblems and developed algorithms for them. The first subproblem is to jointly determine offloading and computing resource allocation decisions and is NP-hard, where we developed an algorithm based on semidefinite relaxation. The second subproblem is to jointly determine access point selection and communication resource allocation decisions, where we proposed an algorithm with a provable approximation ratio of 2.62. We conducted extensive numerical simulations to evaluate the proposed algorithms. Results highlighted that the proposed algorithms outperformed baselines and were near-optimal over a wide range of settings. © 2023 IEEE.

High probability convergence bounds for non-convex stochastic gradient descent with sub-weibull noise

Stochastic gradient descent is one of the most common iterative algorithms used in machine learning and its convergence analysis is a rich area of research. Understanding its convergence properties can help inform what modifications of it to use in different settings. However, most theoretical results either assume convexity or only provide convergence results in mean. This paper, on the other hand, proves convergence bounds in high probability without assuming convexity. Assuming strong smoothness, we prove high probability convergence bounds in two settings: (1) assuming the Polyak- Lojasiewicz inequality and norm sub-Gaussian gradient noise and (2) assuming norm sub-Weibull gradient noise. In the second setting, as an intermediate step to proving convergence, we prove a sub-Weibull martingale difference sequence self-normalized concentration inequality of independent interest. It extends Freedman-type concentration beyond the sub-exponential threshold to heavier-tailed martingale difference sequences. We also provide a post-processing method that picks a single iterate with a provable convergence guarantee as opposed to the usual bound for the unknown best iterate. Our convergence result for sub-Weibull noise extends the regime where stochastic gradient descent has equal or better convergence guarantees than stochastic gradient descent with modifications such as clipping, momentum, and normalization.

A semi-analytical finite element method(SAFEM),based on the two-scale asymptotic homogenization method(AHM)and the finite element method(FEM),is implemented to obtain the effective properties of two-phase fiber-reinforced composites(FRCs).The fibers are periodically distributed and unidirectionally aligned in a homogeneous *** framework addresses the static linear elastic micropolar problem through partial differential equations,subject to boundary conditions and perfect interface contact *** mathematical formulation of the local problems and the effective coefficients are presented by the *** local problems obtained from the AHM are solved by the FEM,which is denoted as the *** numerical results are provided,and the accuracy of the solutions is analyzed,indicating that the formulas and results obtained with the SAFEM may serve as the reference points for validating the outcomes of experimental and numerical computations.

This research aims to construct a two-dimensional image to represent an underwater geometry map with a Side Scan Sonar (SSS) mounted on a Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Glider (HAUG). Building the underwater map has two stages of the process. The first stage is preprocessing which includes Time-varying gains (TVG), slant range correction, and ground range correction. The second is HAUG navigation, the movement of HAUG orientation to the angle and distance of SSS readings and plotting the geometry of the grid map. With these two stages, a two-dimensional grid map will be formed. Meanwhile, the 3D plot utilizes slant range and ground range correction to obtain the surface height of the bottom of the pool. From the experiments conducted to conduct mapping in the pool, two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual forms of the pool floor and pool walls were produced. The results of the estimated measurement of the width of the pool obtained 14.05 meters and the height of the pool 3.199 meters with an SSS beam angle of 58 degrees. © 2023 IEEE.
