In the realm of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, the integration of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) has opened up new possibilities for real-time remote data capturing and seamless connectivity. By manipulating the electromagnetic properties of the environment, RIS enables the control of electromagnetic wave propagation and allows for virtual line-of-sight (LOS) in cases where physical LOS is blocked. This has tremendous implications for the future of RFID applications, particularly with the emergence of chipless RFID technology. In this regard, this paper develops free-space path loss models for RIS-assisted RFID wireless communications. The proposed models in this study have taken into account several crucial physical factors, including tag radar cross-section (RCS), the physical properties of the RIS, and the near-field/far-field effects of the RIS. To further validate the theoretical findings, we have conducted experimental measurements using a fabricated RIS. Numerical simulations were also utilized to validate the models and verify our findings. The channel measurements have demonstrated good agreement with the proposed path loss models, further bolstering the potential of RIS-assisted RFID wireless communications. © 2023, CC BY.

Simulations are commonly used to develop and evaluate video encryption algorithms. Although these approaches are useful for demonstrating theoretical feasibility and algorithm performance, they neglect practical challenges and real-world communication conditions. This oversight creates a critical gap in evaluating their effectiveness and security in practical applications. In this paper, we describe a novel, to the best of our knowledge, video encryption scheme that employs a modified chaotic Colpitts oscillator, a customized Josephus problem, and ribonucleic acid (RNA) operations, and is implemented in visible light communication (VLC) environment. The modified Colpitts oscillator reveals significant phenomena, the most prominent for this study being chaos. The encryption scheme involves block scrambling and pixel-level permutation employing a customized Josephus problem and a column and row shifting technique. Diffusion is then achieved through a custom Josephus problem-oriented RNA operation combined with basic RNA operations and cipher block chaining (CBC). Based on the results, we found that the customized Josephus problem-based permutation performed more efficiently than traditional methods, whereas the column and row shifting permutation was more robust. By eliminating key sequence coding and item-to-item operations, the proposed RNA operation reduces computational overhead. This video encryption scheme is proven to be effective and resilient at securing video data transmitted over the VLC channel, and it constitutes a significant advancement in areas such as surveillance, medical imaging, and military communication requiring robust secured video data. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. This work explores avenues and target areas for optimizing FPGA-based control hardware for experiments conducted on superconducting quantum computing systems and serves as an introduction to some of the current research at the intersection of classical and quantum computing hardware. With the promise of building larger-scale error-corrected quantum computers based on superconducting qubit architecture, innovations to room-temperature control electronics are needed to bring these quantum realizations to fruition. The QICK (Quantum Instrumentation Control Kit) is one leading experimental FPGA-based implementations. However, its integration into other experimental quantum computing architectures, especially those using superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) cavities, is largely unexplored. We identify some key target areas for optimizing control electronics for superconducting qubit architectures and provide some preliminary results to the resolution of a control pulse waveform. With optimizations targeted at 3D superconducting qubit setups, we hope to bring to light some of the requirements in classical computational methodologies to bring out the full potential of this quantum computing architecture, and to convey the excitement of progress in this research.

This study investigates the optimization of signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in superconducting quantum computing readout signals through adaptive filtering. Quantum computing technology has the potential to revolutionize various fields by delivering exponential speedup in solving certain computational problems. However, the technology's practical implementation is hindered by the difficulty of extracting clean, reliable signals during the readout phase, with various sources of noise presenting a significant barrier to clean signals. This noise, often present in readout profiles due to imperfect isolation, degrades the system's overall SNR, thus impeding the ability to extract the quantum state accurately. The research leverages the power of adaptive filtering to improve the SNR of quantum computing readout signals. Specifically, an adaptive filter is implemented in a PYNQ overlay on an FPGA, and eventually will be connected to a quantum computing system. The system models the noise with a Least Mean Squares (LMS) adaptive filter, and then subtracts the estimated noise from the received signal to improve the SNR. A Direct Memory Access (DMA) channel is used to handle the signal processing, delivering efficient, high-speed data transfer between the PYNQ system and the hardware. The study explores the benefits of this adaptive filtering technique, potentially providing a significant contribution to practical and fast quantum computing.

The early detection of colorectal polyps is crucial for the reduction of mortality rates. However, manually identifying polyps is time-consuming and expensive, increasing the risk of missing them. Our paper aims to address this issue by presenting an automated segmentation approach for colorectal polyps. This paper proposes a method that combines a skip connection with hybrid attention guidance (AG) using attention guidance (AG) and residual path frameworks to identify salient features. Furthermore, we augment test samples using original, horizontal flip, and vertical flip transformations to enhance model robustness through Test Time Augmentation (TTA). The model was trained with Kvasir-seg samples and evaluated on Kvasir-seg and CVC-ClinicDB datasets to gauge generalizability. A significant accuracy (0.9546), a Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) of 0.8557, a Cross-section over Union (IoU) of 0.8824, a Recall (0.8221), a Precision (0.8922), an area under Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC-AUC) of 0.9454, and an area under Precision-Recall (AUC-PR) of 0.8717 were achieved without TTA. Through TTA integration, accuracy (0.9993), DSC (0.8663), IoU (0.8277), Recall (0.8060), Precision (0.9364), and ROC-AUC (0.9587) have been improved. A comparison of our framework with state-of-the-art models demonstrated its effectiveness and segmentation capabilities. Additionally, the proposed model contains only 0.47 million parameters and a weight size of 6.71 MB, illustrating its potential for clinical diagnostics. A computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system improves patient outcomes by detecting colorectal polyps early and improving segmentation accuracy.

Hyperspectral images have wide application in different commercial and military missions. However, these images suffer from the low spatial resolution, and hence, spectral unmixing has been proposed as a suitable technique to solve this deficiency. Recently, some preprocessing modules have been proposed which use the combination of spatial and spectral information of image pixels with the purpose of improving endmember extraction and spectral unmixing in hyperspectral images. In this paper, we propose a statistical preprocessing algorithm using weighted extended cumulative entropy (WECE) as the Edge Detection algorithm to identify spectrally pure pixels and KL distance estimation using the mean and covariance values of pure oversegments and their neighbors to find the spatially homogenous and spectrally pure pixels for the next endmember extraction algorithms. Moreover, the average of KL distances are applied due to the reduction of noise power and local spectral variability. The performance of the novel statistical preprocessing algorithm has been compared with the sate-of-the-art in terms of RMSE reconstruction and average SAD errors on two real hyperspectral images known as HYDICE urban and AVIRIS Indian Pines in combination with several endmember extraction (EE) algorithms and its efficiency is evaluated. © 2021 IEEE.

In the current generation, most individuals are facing many health problems even in the elderly stages and one of the severe touch is caused by to digestive system. Usually, the problems in the digestive system transpire due to improper innards that are present inside it. Even though many experts have described effective solutions to overcome such problems no proper outcomes are achieved. Therefore, the proposed method builds an appropriate device that detects the harmful contents in the entire digestive system which records and stores the data for a continuous period. Additionally, the designed device is incorporated with the neural network using five defined layers where the data is divided into mini segments. This type of data segmentation of input images will reduce the amount of loss in the system thus making the system to be operated at reduced cost. Further equal weights are allocated in the hidden layer using reduced control parameters thereby achieving concentrated attack at several periods. To analyze the effectiveness of neural networks parametric cases are performed and the results prove to be very effective in comparison cases for about 68 percentage. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

This paper explores the increasing demand for accurate and resilient multi-sensor fusion techniques, particularly within 3D tracking systems enhanced by drone technology. Employing the adaptive kernel Kalman filter (AKKF) methodology within the Stone Soup framework, our research seeks to develop robust fusion approaches capable of seamlessly amalgamating data from a multi-sensor arrangement with fixed ground sensors and dynamic sensors mounted on drones. By capitalising on the adaptive nature of the $A K K F$, we aim to refine the precision and dependability of 3D object tracking in intricate scenarios. Through empirical evaluations, we illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed AKKF-based fusion strategies in enhancing tracking performance within the Stone Soup framework, thus contributing to the advancement of multi-sensor fusion methodologies within this framework.
