This paper focuses on optimal voltage regulator(VR)planning to maximize the photovoltaic(PV)energy integration in distribution *** describe the amount of dynamic PV energy that can be integrated into the power system,the concept of PV accommodation capability(PVAC)is introduced and modeled with *** proposed planning model is formulated as a Benders decomposition based bi-level stochastic optimization *** the upper-level problem,VR planning decisions and PVAC are determined via mixed integer linear programming(MILP)before considering *** in the lower-level problem,the feasibility of first-level results is checked by critical network constraints(*** magnitude constraints and line capacity constraints)under uncertainties considered by time-varying loads and PV *** this paper,these uncertainties are represented in the form of operational scenarios,which are generated by the Gaussian copula theory and reduced by a well-studied backward-reduction *** modified IEEE 33-node distribution grid is utilized to verify the effectiveness of the proposed *** results demonstrate that a PV energy integration can be significantly enhanced after optimal voltage regulator planning.

This study examines the efficacy of a deep learning-based binaural speech reproduction system via headphones that integrates real-time head tracking to simulate a stable speech source in a virtual environment. We developed a binaural speech reproduction system that operates in real time using a custom head-tracking device based on the Arduino platform and a pre-trained neural network model for binaural speech synthesis. The system dynamically adapts audio output based on the head orientation of the listener, operating with an overall latency of 70 ms on standard computing hardware. We conducted a subjective speech localization task with 15 young, normal-hearing participants. Initial results showed a 40% accuracy in localizing a static speech source, which significantly improved with dynamic head movements. Participants reported minimal dizziness and distortion, indicating good tolerability and sound quality. Despite some limitations, such as non-personalized settings and perceivable latency, the findings demonstrate the potential of deep learning approaches to enhance realism in virtual auditory environments. In this article, we explore how an increasing amount of online services and tools not only further facilitates our lives, but also shapes our lives and how we perceive our environments. Reconfigurable holographic surfaces (RHSs) have been proposed as a cost-effective and power-efficient solution for extremely large-scale arrays, where the amplitude of electromagnetic waves radiated at each element is controlled to achieve high directive gain. However, the complexity of acquiring real-time channel state information (CSI) required for beamforming is prohibitively high, especially when the near-field expansion brought by the large-scale RHS is considered. In this paper, we propose a codebook-based beam training scheme for a large-scale RHS-enabled communication system to bypass CSI estimation. Unlike traditional phase-controlled arrays, the amplitude-controlled property of the RHS implies that each RHS element can be selectively activated. This motivates an array reconfiguration method where a scale-changeable RHS array is constructed to generate gain-flat beams with different coverage in the angle-range domain. A hierarchical RHS codebook is then proposed where the coverage of the codewords in each layer is progressively refined. To address the substantial beam search overhead in the near-far field, a two-stage beam training scheme is performed in the proposed codebook, thereby reducing the overhead to a logarithmic level of the element number. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs better than phased arrays given the same input power in terms of sum rate, and it also approaches the upper bound achieved by the exhaustive search at a significantly reduced overhead. © 2024 IEEE.

To support increasing demands for real-time multimedia wireless data traffic, there have been considerable efforts toward guaranteeing stringent quality-of-service (QoS) when designing massive multiple-input and multiple-output (m-MIMO) mobile wireless network architectures for massive ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (mURLLC). One of the major design issues raised by mURLLC is how to characterize QoS metrics for upper-bounding both delay and error-rate when implementing short-packet data communications, such as finite blocklength coding (FBC), over highly time-varying m-MIMO based wireless fading channels. To efficiently accommodate statistical QoS for mURLLC traffic, it is crucial to model and investigate m-MIMO based wireless fading channels' stochastic-characteristics by defining and identifying new statistical QoS metrics and their analytical relationships, such as delay-bound-violating probability, effective capacity, decoding error probability, etc., in the finite blocklength regime. However, how to rigorously and efficiently characterize the stochastic dynamics of m-MIMO mobile wireless networks in terms of statistically upper-bounding FBC-based both delay and error-rate QoS metrics has been neither fundamentally understood nor thoroughly studied before. To overcome these challenges, in this paper we develop analytical modeling techniques and frameworks for statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS in the finite blocklength regime. First, we establish system models using FBC. Second, we develop a set of new statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS metrics including delay, error-rate, and joint-delay/error-rate QoS-exponents, and the corresponding ?-effective capacities. Finally, our simulations validate and evaluate our developed modeling schemes for statistical QoS to support 6G mURLLC. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel two-stage approach to enhance the quality and privacy of X-ray medical images. The first stage leverages generative adversarial networks (GANs) for effective denoising, eliminating noise and artifacts from X-ray images while improving the visibility of critical anatomical structures. Subsequently, number-Theoretic transform (NTT) polynomial multiplication is integrated with Kyber to accelerate the encryption and decryption of the denoised X-ray images. This encryption safeguards the privacy of sensitive patient data and provides resilience against potential quantum computing attacks, ensuring long-Term data security. Implementing Kyber-based encryption and decryption on a graphics processing unit (GPU) architecture significantly reduces latency, enabling real-Time and secure access to critical healthcare information. © 2024 IEEE.
