Blood cancer cell diagnosis is crucial in medical diagnostics. It demands accurate classification of blood cell images. Proper classification of blood cancer cells is fundamental for accurately diagnosing the specific type and subtype of blood cancer as well as efficient treatment planning. It provides specific information, helping healthcare professionals predict the prognosis, survival rates, and the potential for disease recurrence. On this basis, deep learning models have demonstrated remarkable performance. In this paper, we have introduced a comprehensive research into blood cancer cell classification, employing a diverse dataset encompassing various blood cell types. We explore the effectiveness of VGG19 with batch normalization, Vision Transformer (ViT), Ensemble Adversarial Inception-ResNetV2, DenseNet201, and ResNeXt50 architectures in this challenging task. In order to enhance the model performance, we integrate essential data preprocessing techniques, including resizing, cropping, and normalization. Additionally, novel data augmentation strategies, such as random cropping, and flipping are introduced to augment the training dataset and improve model generalization. Remarkably, VGG19 with batch normalization has shown tremendous success by achieving 99.86% accuracy. Moreover, the DenseNet201 model has performed brilliantly by achieving an accuracy of 98.55%. The ResNeXt50 model shows excellent performance with an accuracy of 98.31%. The Vision Transformer (ViT) achieves a solid accuracy of 98.91%. Lastly, Ensemble Adversarial Inception-ResNet V2 also performed no-tably achieving 96.38%. In this context, VGG19 with batch normalization is able to show more excellent performance than other models by achieving the highest accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

The growing integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into modern power grids, managed via DER Management Systems (DERMS), has introduced significant cybersecurity challenges. Communication vulnerabilities in DERMS architecture create opportunities for adversarial attacks, such as Man-in-the-Middle (MITM), that intercept and manipulate critical data flows, disrupting grid operations and compromising reliability. This paper investigates MITM attacks targeting three critical nodes in DER-DERMS communication: (i) DER gateway routers, (ii) inter-router pathways, and (iii) DERMS gateway routers. To analyze these vulnerabilities, we developed CPS-DERMS, a multi-co-simulation hardware-in-the-loop testbed integrating grid-side simulations with OPAL-RT, large-scale cyber simulations using NS-3, and an indige-nous Python-based DERMS platform. The study demonstrates innovative strategies for executing MITM attacks, including maintaining payload integrity and bypassing detection mechanisms, while highlighting the critical vulnerabilities within DER-DERMS communication systems. We considered a real utility's DER-integrated distribution grid as a case study. Experimental results reveal that MITM attacks can cause overvoltages, reactive power imbalances, and increased tap-changer operations, significantly degrading power quality and grid reliability. © 2025 IEEE.

Data hiding with thumbnail-preserving encryption for cloud medical images

To serve a convenient healthcare network, storing medical images and diagnosis records in the cloud is a straightforward solution. Encrypting the medical images before uploading them to the cloud is a trivial strategy to prevent data breaches. However, the availability of images is also reduced. Since all images look noisy, one cannot obtain the intended image by a quick viewing of the file folder. In this paper, we propose a total solution to these considerations. A reversible data hiding scheme based on thumbnail-preserving image encryption is presented. By leveraging a multi-scale Haar wavelet transform and extended run-length coding, we can produce thumbnail-preserving encrypted medical images that provide a sufficient vacating room for embedding electronic patient records. The experimental results demonstrate that our scheme effectively balances the confidentiality and availability of encrypted medical images. It provides over 1 bit per pixel of capacity for embedding electronic patient records, making it suitable for cloud-based medical data management. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

A new speaker-diarization technology with denoising spectral-LSTM for online automatic multi-dialogue recording

In AI pandemic applications, the online automatic AI recording apparatus for official councils such as court trials, business conferences and commercial meetings will become imperative because it could let the opinion identification and consensus of participants be synchronically available to implicitly diminish social costs such as follow-up disputes and controversies. Hence, in this study, an automatic on-line multi-dialogue recording system is completely constructed, where the unbounded interleaved-state recurrent neural networks (UIS-RNN) with proposed crux improvements is exploited to achieve confident speaker-diarization. For keeping the systematic robustness, a denoising spectral-LSTM, which is precisely modified from the dual-signal transformation LSTM (DTLN), can strengthen its subsequent crux-improved UIS-RNN and automatic speech recognition (ASR). Finally, the MacBERT model is set to rectify the possible wrong words in conversed sentences according to the learned rational context. For making our system being a practical software apparatus in the use of unmarked multi-person councils, we have also completed the convenient interfaces for the operations of ASR and speaker-diarization, which can exhibit on-line denoising efficacy and speaker-diarization results as well as offer real-time hand-crafted rectifications to common users. In extensive experiments, the proposed recording system can promise high accuracy rates of online speaker diarization and speech-separated ASR. Our proposed system had been examined by the cooperated law court staffs, who offered the noise-embedded speeches of practical court field to test our system. Since the tight recording burden had been indeed noticeably alleviated in their legal-action councils, the court staffs had endorsed that the proposed entire system could be a friendly labor-saving AI apparatus for on-line automatic multi-dialogue recording. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media,

A feature selection-aided deep learning based deepfake video detection method

The rapid advancements in deepfake technology are imposing significant challenges in detecting manipulated media contents. In this work, we have introduced a deepfake detection method that utilizes three pre-trained convolutional neural network models, namely DenseNet-121, EfficientNet-B0, and Xception to extract deep learning features from preprocessed extracted video frames. Next, these features are stacked to generate diverse feature representations, and thus end up with high-dimensional features. After that, a feature selection strategy is employed on the combined features to eliminate redundant and less effective features. The selected features are then fed into the K-nearest neighbors classifier to decide whether a questioned video is a fake video or not. Two widely used deepfake video datasets, namely FaceForensics++ and Celeb-DF (V2) are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed technique following two experimental setups: intra- and inter-datasets. The results show that the model achieves area under curve scores of 98.50% (85.70%) and 97.70% (79.00%) in the intra-dataset (inter-dataset) setups while trained on the FaceForensics++ and Celeb-DF (V2) datasets, respectively. The performance of the proposed model is comparable to that of state-of-the-art methods. Braess s paradox is a counterintuitive and undesirable phenomenon, in which for a given graph with prescribed source and sink vertices and cost functions for all edges, removal of edges decreases the cost of a Nash flow from source to sink. The problem of deciding if the phenomenon occurs is generally NP-hard. In this paper, we consider the problem of deciding if, for a given graph with prescribed source and sink vertices, Braess s paradox does not occur for any cost functions. It is known that this problem can be solved in O(nm2) time for directed graphs, where n and m are the numbers of vertices and edges of the input graph, respectively. In this paper, we propose a faster O(m2) time algorithm solving this problem for directed graphs. Our approach is based on a simple implementation of a known characterization that the subgraph of a given graph induced by all source-sink paths is series-parallel. The faster running time is achieved by speeding up the simple implementation using another characterization that a certain structure is embedded in the given graph. Combined with a known technique, the proposed algorithm can also be used to design a faster O(km2) time algorithm for directed graphs with k source-sink pairs, which improves the previous O(knm2) time algorithm. © 2023 Schloss Dagstuhl- Leibniz-Zentrum fur Informatik GmbH, Dagstuhl Publishing. An efficient weighted partial MaxSAT encoding for scheduling in overloaded real-time systems

Scheduling tasks in overloaded real-time systems is a challenging problem that has received a significant amount of attention in recent years. The processor is overloaded with more tasks than its capacity, resulting in missed deadlines and degraded system performance. Therefore, scheduling algorithms play a critical role in ensuring that high-priority tasks are completed on time while minimizing the impact of incomplete lower-priority tasks. This paper proposes an efficient Weighted Partial MaxSAT(WPMS) encoding that returns an optimal solution in which the total weight of incomplete tasks is minimized in a single machine environment. To assess the efficiency of our proposed formulation, a comparative analysis is conducted alongside the state-of-the-art encoding. By examining the solving 75 distinct problems, it becomes evident that the WPMS encoding proposed herein exhibits a considerable advantage in terms of both time and memory efficiency. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

The International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) is the flagship conference of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society. The theme for ISSCC 2022 is 'Intelligent Silicon for a Sustainable World.' This theme further highlights the fact that to cope with strong environmental changes, the circuit design community is evolving more than ever to support a more sustainable world. Given their widespread use in our everyday lives, without change, ICs will become the dominant energy consumer and source of carbon emissions in the (near) future. Despite phenomenal advances in solid-state circuits and systems, low-power circuit design is becoming increasingly more sophisticated in all application areas, from digital computation and machine learning to analog design. In the context of data communications, advances in wireless and wireline circuits will help optimize local and global communications energy. Various sensors can be deployed to measure environmental data and optimize energy consumption. Power management techniques continue to be an essential aspect of a majority of circuits and systems to extend their lifetime and battery longevity. The exchange of knowledge is widely recognized as a crucial aspect of effective knowledge management. When it comes to sharing knowledge within Prison settings, things get complicated due to various challenges such as limited resources, social stigma, isolation, communication barriers, and security concerns. Additionally, there's a scarcity of resources dedicated to promoting knowledge sharing in secure environments. This study aims to dig deep into the key factors that influence how knowledge is shared in Indonesian prisons. To navigate this intricate terrain, the study uses questionnaires distributed among Prison officers to understand the complex relationship between the identified critical factors and knowledge sharing in Prison. Leadership support, organizational culture, organizational structure, incentives, and individual beliefs emerge as pivotal elements in knowledge sharing. It's also noted that the connection between these critical factors and the intention to share knowledge is significantly influenced by organizational structure. Recognizing and addressing critical factors in knowledge sharing within prisons not only improves rehabilitation within prison walls but also transforms the broader criminal justice system. This approach fosters evidence-based practices, better communication, and a comprehensive understanding of factors leading to successful rehabilitation and reduced recidivism, ultimately creating a more just and effective system. © 2024 International Conferences e-Society 2024 and Mobile Learning 2024.
