A Novel Deep Learning Approach Toward Efficient and Accurate Recommendation Using Improved Alternating Least Squares in Social Media

The increasing number of electronic transactions on the Internet has given rise to the design of recommendation systems. The main objective of these systems is to give recommendations to the users about the items (i.e., movies, music, books, etc.) they are likely to purchase in near future. These recommendations are on the foundation of the response provided by the other individuals about these products in the terms of ratings, which are in the form of a five-star rating system. Plenty of algorithms have been proposed in the past for building recommender systems. The most popular of these algorithms comprise content-centered and collaborative filtering recommendation methodologies. Recently, matrix factorization has appeared as a technique in recommender systems. Several algorithms centered on matrix factorization have been suggested in the recent past. In this paper, an improved alternating least squares algorithm has been proposed for building more efficient and accurate recommender systems which improves the performance of matrix factorization. The performance of the model has been evaluated using metrics like root-mean-square-error and execution time. However, in general, the time complexity of both algorithms is O(n^3), where n is the number of users or items. This is because both IALS and ALS involve iteratively solving a system of linear equations, and the time complexity of solving a system of linear equations is O(n^3). However, IALS can achieve significant performance improvements over ALS, particularly for large datasets, due to its incorporation of stochastic gradient descent and parallelization techniques. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2024.

Mobile devices within Fifth Generation(5G)networks,typically equipped with Android systems,serve as a bridge to connect digital gadgets such as global positioning system,mobile devices,and wireless routers,which are vital in facilitating end-user communication ***,the security of Android systems has been challenged by the sensitive data involved,leading to vulnerabilities in mobile devices used in 5G *** vulnerabilities expose mobile devices to cyber-attacks,primarily resulting from security ***-permission apps in Android can exploit these channels to access sensitive information,including user identities,login credentials,and geolocation *** such attack leverages"zero-permission"sensors like accelerometers and gyroscopes,enabling attackers to gather information about the smartphone's *** underscores the importance of fortifying mobile devices against potential future *** research focuses on a new recurrent neural network prediction model,which has proved highly effective for detecting side-channel attacks in mobile devices in 5G *** conducted state-of-the-art comparative studies to validate our experimental *** results demonstrate that even a small amount of training data can accurately recognize 37.5％of previously unseen user-typed ***,our tap detection mechanism achieves a 92％accuracy rate,a crucial factor for text *** findings have significant practical implications,as they reinforce mobile device security in 5G networks,enhancing user privacy,and data protection.

The variability of the output power of distributed renewable energy sources(DRESs)that originate from the fastchanging climatic conditions can negatively affect the grid ***,grid operators have incorporated ramp-rate limitations(RRLs)for the injected DRES power in the grid *** the DRES penetration levels increase,the mitigation of high-power ramps is no longer considered as a system support function but rather an ancillary service(AS).Energy storage systems(ESSs)coordinated by RR control algorithms are often applied to mitigate these power ***,no unified definition of active power ramps,which is essential to treat the RRL as AS,currently *** paper assesses the various definitions for ramp-rate RR and proposes RRL method control for a central battery ESS(BESS)in distribution systems(DSs).The ultimate objective is to restrain high-power ramps at the distribution transformer level so that RRL can be traded as AS to the upstream transmission system(TS).The proposed control is based on the direct control of theΔP/Δt,which means that the control parameters are directly correlated with the RR requirements included in the grid *** addition,a novel method for restoring the state of charge(So C)within a specific range following a high ramp-up/down event is ***,a parametric method for estimating the sizing of central BESSs(BESS sizing for short)is *** BESS sizing is determined by considering the RR requirements,the DRES units,and the load mix of the examined *** BESS sizing is directly related to the constant RR achieved using the proposed ***,the proposed methodologies are validated through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink and laboratory tests in a commercially available BESS.

Ransomware is one of the most advanced malware which uses high computer resources and services to encrypt system data once it infects a system and causes large financial data losses to the organization and individuals. There are certain automatic ransomware detection and analysis strategies available nowadays. File system analysis reveals some essential patterns and artifacts that can be very useful to understand its behavior spreading mechanism, taxonomy for malware forensics experts. Current trend explores Ransomware as a service (RaaS) and Malware as a service (MaaS) on Darknet. This paper reveals a theory of digital forensic methodology to identify the spreading/infection mechanism and attack path, the cryptographic methodology, windows services, process, APIs, persistence mechanism, and system lockdown strategies and malware analysis methodology. Gas and biosensors are crucial in the modern healthcare system, enabling non-invasive monitoring and diagnosis of various medical conditions. These sensors are used in various applications, including smart home health monitoring devices and critical care units. Common non-imaging sensor types include gas or VOC sensors, diagnostic ECG sensors, blood glucose sensors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure sensors, body temperature sensors, EEG sensors, accelerometers, and imaging sensors like X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds. Healthcare-related sensors offer numerous advantages, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, monitoring vital signs, enabling remote patient monitoring, personalized healthcare, and early detection and prevention. However, issues like data accessibility, privacy, comfort, security, and accuracy must be considered when installing sensors in homes. Efficient data sharing and analysis require devices, sensors, and platforms to communicate effectively. Real-time data processing is essential for prompt diagnosis and intervention. In this article, we have put it briefly: medical sensors are transforming the way we track, identify, and manage adverse health conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

A Novel Lightweight Joint Source-Channel Coding Design in Semantic Communications

Semantic communication has emerged as a promising solution to meet the growing demand for efficient data transmission in the information age. Unlike traditional communication methods that focus on transmitting raw data, semantic communication prioritizes preserving the meaning of transmitted information, which significantly reduces the data volume. However, implementing semantic communication systems in resource-constrained environments, such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices, remains challenging due to limited computational resources. In this letter, we propose a novel lightweight deep learning (DL) model, termed the lightweight image compression and reconstruction network (LICRnet). LICRnet leverages depthwise separable convolution (DSC) and a local and non-local mixture (LNLM) block to significantly reduce computational costs. Additionally, the LNLM incorporates a variable window size-based multi-scale attention mechanism (VW-MSA), enabling it to effectively learn from both local detailed features and global high-level meaningful features. Extensive simulations demonstrate that LICRnet significantly reduces computational complexity while maintaining satisfactory image compression and reconstruction performance, making it highly suitable for deployment in resource-constrained environments. © 2014 IEEE.
