The development of mode-localized sensors based on amplitude output metrics has attracted increasing attention in recent years due to the potential of such sensors for high sensitivity and ***-localization phenomena leverage the interaction between multiple coupled resonant modes to achieve enhanced performance,providing a promising solution to overcome the limitations of traditional sensing *** noise plays a key role in determining the resolution of mode-localized sensors,as the output metric is derived from the measured AR(amplitude ratio)within the weakly coupled resonator ***,the amplitude noise originating from the weakly coupled resonator's closed-loop circuit has not yet been fully *** paper presents a decouple-decomposition(DD)noise analysis model,which is applied to achieve high resolution in a mode-localized tilt sensor based on a weakly coupled resonator closed-loop *** DD noise model separates the weakly coupled resonators using the decoupling method considering the nonlinearity of the *** integrating the decoupled weakly coupled resonators,the model decomposes the weakly coupled resonator's closed-loop circuit into distinct paths for amplitude and phase noise *** DD noise model reveals noise effects at various circuit nodes and models the system noise in the closed-loop circuit of the weakly coupled ***/Simulink simulations verify the model's accuracy when compared to theoretical *** the optimal operating point,the mode-localized tilt sensor achieves an input-referred instability of 3.91×10^(-4°)and an input-referred AR of PSD of 2.01×10^(-4°)⁄√Hz using the closed-loop noise *** model is also applicable to other varieties of mode-localized sensors.

In this letter, a triple-mode wideband filtering antenna with planar configuration is presented. The designed antenna has a single substrate layer, which consists of one half-mode circular patch resonator, one half-mode rectangular patch resonator, and one rectangular SIW cavity, and it is fed through the conventional coaxial probe. On the basis of the field analysis, these three types of resonators are compactly integrated without disturbing the resonant properties of their dominant modes. Given this, three resonant modes of half-TM11, half-TM10, and TE11 are well generated, so as to form a widened operating band. Meanwhile, four radiation nulls are produced from far-field radiation cancellation with the increased radiation boundaries. For validation, a prototype antenna with the center frequency of 2.8 GHz is designed and fabricated. The measured results indicate that the proposed antenna achieves an improved fractional bandwidth of 15.7% under three in-band resonances. Besides, four radiation nulls created at 2.32, 3.22, 3.49, and 3.89 GHz in stopband effectively enhance the out-of-band suppression level. Moreover, low profile of 0.037λ0 is also implemented. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

A new type of error-control code is proposed in which a signal point within the modulator signal constellation diagram is selected as the target signal point. An incoming signal point is then encoded by using the number of steps along a pre-defined path to the target point. By introducing a state variable, trellis based decoding is made possible. The encoding process is generalised for M-ary QAM with high rate encoding to present the BER performance of signal point target codes (SPTCs) over quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 16-QAM, 64-QAM and 256-QAM signal constellations. Free Euclidean distance calculations are used to modify the encoding algorithm to develop constellation arithmetic codes (CACs) with an improved coding gain. For example, a rate 2/3 CAC code using partial parallel encoding provides a BER coding gain of 5.5 dB over uncoded 64-QAM. Copyright © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Finding suitable mechanisms whereby rationale behind support vector machine (SVM) predictions can be known and understood without substantial difficulties is an ongoing challenge. Aiming to find such a mechanism, we look into the contextualization of SVM models. Hence, we propose a novel explainable SVM classifier that makes use of a parallel arrangement of contextualized SVM models for offering predictions that depend on a particular event, situation or idea. The proposed classifier allows decision makers to state in a clear manner the context of the predictions they would like to be offered. This aspect is deemed to be important since decision makers can take advantage of the improvement in the interpretability of such contextualized predictions for making more informed decisions. The improvement in interpretability is illustrated through an example in which digitized handwritten vowels are contextually identified. Another example where hand gestures are recognized by means of electromyography (EMG) signals shows how the proposed classifier can also improve the accuracy of the resulting models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.

We have developed a fast method of using Multiple Scattering Theory-Broadband Green’s Function (BBGF-MST) for band field calculations. In this paper, we successfully extended the method to the vector electromagnetic case of 3D periodic structures. In the MST-BBGF approach, the broadband transformation to vector spherical waves for 3D is derived using the Broadband Green’s function. The band eigenvalue problem is expressed in terms of the single scatterer T matrix which is independent of the periodic lattice nor the Bloch vector. For the first five bands, the dimension of the KKR eigen equation is merely 6, as 6 vector spherical waves are utilized for the scattered waves. We make extensive comparisons of the results with the commercial software COMSOL in both accuracy and computation efficiency. The CPU requirement on a standard laptop for the MST-BBGF method is merely 0.309 seconds for the first 5 bands. The MST-BBGF method is accurate and is at least two orders of magnitude faster than commercial software COMSOL. In the band field calculations, we employ the approach of extended coefficient to use the low order eigenvector of 6 to extend to 240 vector spherical wave coefficients without the need of recalculating the eigenvalue nor the eigenvector of the KKR equation. The extended coefficients approach gives accurate band field solutions for the entire (0, 0, 0) cell. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

Pedestrian trajectory prediction plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of various applications, including autonomous vehicles and traffic management systems. This paper proposes a novel method for pedestrian trajectory prediction, called multi-stage goal-driven network (MGNet). Diverging from prior approaches relying on stepwise recursive prediction and the singular forecasting of a long-term goal, MGNet directs trajectory generation by forecasting intermediate stage goals, thereby reducing prediction errors. The network comprises three main components: a conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE), an attention module, and a multi-stage goal evaluator. Trajectories are encoded using conditional variational autoencoders to acquire knowledge about the approximate distribution of pedestrians' future trajectories, and combined with an attention mechanism to capture the temporal dependency between trajectory sequences. The pivotal module is the multi-stage goal evaluator, which utilizes the encoded feature vectors to predict intermediate goals, effectively minimizing cumulative errors in the recursive inference process. The effectiveness of MGNet is demonstrated through comprehensive experiments on the JAAD and PIE datasets. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art algorithms reveal significant performance improvements achieved by our proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.
