Dual-Path Spectrogram Refinement Network for Robust Speaker Verification

The accuracy and reliability of automatic speaker verification (ASV) face significant challenges in noisy environments. In recent years, joint training of speech enhancement front-end and ASV back-end has been widely applied to improve the robustness of ASV systems. Traditional joint training directly uses the enhanced speech features as the input of the back-end. However, the diversity of noise types and noise intensities will excessively suppress the enhanced features, resulting in speech distortion or residual noise. To alleviate this problem, we propose a dual-path spectrogram refinement network that enables the enhanced features to learn supplementary information from the separated noise features. In addition, we incorporate coordinate attention into the overall joint architecture to capture more comprehensive frequency and temporal information of the speaker from different spatial positions. We conduct extensive experiments on the VoxCeleb1 test set, the out-of-domain noise test set, and the VOiCES corpus. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of speaker verification systems in both clean and noisy environments. Optimal control optimization problems are relative complex and widespread in aerospace field. The evolutionary algorithms are useful methods in solving those problems and Multi Agent Collaborative Search Algorithm (MACS) is a effective method for them. It's a mix of evolution approach and gradient-based method. The evolution part includes individualistic and social heuristics with different characteristics. The latest version of MACS is Multi-Agent Collaborative Search optimal control algorithm (MACSoc) which has good performance on multi-objective optimal control problems. However, this algorithm has two important limitations: The two kinds of heuristics are performed evenly on each individuals which may weaken the algorithm efficiency;The Pareto Front in objective space may be uneven but the initial weight vectors of MACSoc is even. This may lead to diversity losing. We proposed a new algorithm MACSoc with adaptive heuristics and weight vectors (MACSoc-AH) which contains the following improvements: The two kinds of heuristics are executed on individuals based on the their characteristics;A weight vector adjusting process with a original trigger is added to improve diversity. The new algorithm is compared with MACSoc and shows competitive results. © 2024 IEEE.

Machine learning, a vital part of artificial intelli-gence, improves our ability to make predictions from complex data. The success of these predictions relies heavily on the model's fit with its data and the data's consistency. Accurate predictions depend on closely matching the model to the data patterns. However, missing data can seriously disrupt the accuracy of predictions, causing errors. To address this, we recommend adopting a proposed framework that enhances predictions by effectively filling in missing data. Our objective is to refine the accuracy of our predictions, especially in scenarios where the data might be incomplete and features exhibit patterns of dependency. In the context of missing data, our approach concentrates on enhancing regression performance to minimize the effects of missing data as effectively as possible. © 2024 IEEE.

Anomaly detection from medical images is badly needed for automated diagnosis. For example, medical images obtained with several modalities, such as magnetic resonance (MR) and confocal microscopy, need to be classified for anomaly detection. The MR images may contain tumors that need to be detected with anomaly detection techniques. In MR imaging, brain tumors are represented as areas composed of abnormal cells that need to be detected. On the other hand, confocal microscopy can be used for retinal imaging. Hence, there is a need to apply classification techniques for diagnosing diseases of the eye, such as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), which leads to exudates in different regions of the retina. The detection of exudates is necessary for the diagnosis of DR. In this paper, two models are presented for the classification of MR and retinal images. Much research has been done in this area, but it did not achieve high accuracy of classification in an acceptable time. In addition, the previous models did not consider both types of image modalities considered in this paper. The suggested models are Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-LSTM). They are used to classify normal and abnormal cases of both brain tumor and DR diseases. The CNN model is composed of six convolutional layers and six max-pooling layers. A soft-max activation function takes the classification decision. The proposed Conv-LSTM model is composed of three stages: pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification. The deep learning model performance is better than those of traditional networks. The CNN gives an accuracy of 94.26% for DR classification and 95.8% for brain tumor classification, while the Conv-LSTM gives the maximum accuracy of 96.41% for DR classification and 97.4% for brain tumor classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Learning Probabilistic Coordinate Fields for Robust Correspondences

We introduce Probabilistic Coordinate Fields (PCFs), a novel geometric-invariant coordinate representation for image correspondence problems. In contrast to standard Cartesian coordinates, PCFs encode coordinates in correspondence-specific barycentric coordinate systems (BCS) with affine invariance. To know when and where to trust the encoded coordinates, we implement PCFs in a probabilistic network termed PCF-Net, which parameterizes the distribution of coordinate fields as Gaussian mixture models. By jointly optimizing coordinate fields and their confidence conditioned on dense flows, PCF-Net can work with various feature descriptors when quantifying the reliability of PCFs by confidence maps. An interesting observation of this work is that the learned confidence map converges to geometrically coherent and semantically consistent regions, which facilitates robust coordinate representation. By delivering the confident coordinates to keypoint/feature descriptors, we show that PCF-Net can be used as a plug-in to existing correspondence-dependent approaches. Extensive experiments on both indoor and outdoor datasets suggest that accurate geometric invariant coordinates help to achieve the state of the art in several correspondence problems, such as sparse feature matching, dense image registration, camera pose estimation, and consistency filtering. Further, the interpretable confidence map predicted by PCF-Net can also be leveraged to other novel applications from texture transfer to multi-homography classification. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Local-Global Temporal Difference Learning for Satellite Video Super-Resolution

Optical-flow-based and kernel-based approaches have been extensively explored for temporal compensation in satellite Video Super-Resolution (VSR). However, these techniques are less generalized in large-scale or complex scenarios, especially in satellite videos. In this paper, we propose to exploit the well-defined temporal difference for efficient and effective temporal compensation. To fully utilize the local and global temporal information within frames, we systematically modeled the short-term and long-term temporal discrepancies since we observe that these discrepancies offer distinct and mutually complementary properties. Specifically, we devise a Short-term Temporal Difference Module (S-TDM) to extract local motion representations from RGB difference maps between adjacent frames, which yields more clues for accurate texture representation. To explore the global dependency in the entire frame sequence, a Long-term Temporal Difference Module (L-TDM) is proposed, where the differences between forward and backward segments are incorporated and activated to guide the modulation of the temporal feature, leading to a holistic global compensation. Moreover, we further propose a Difference Compensation Unit (DCU) to enrich the interaction between the spatial distribution of the target frame and temporal compensated results, which helps maintain spatial consistency while refining the features to avoid misalignment. Rigorous objective and subjective evaluations conducted across five mainstream video satellites demonstrate that our method performs favorably against state-of-the-art approaches.
