Visitor management is a common activity that happens every day all around the world. Accepting visitors at home or in the office, going to the bank, or visiting a private residential area;some sort of visitor management goes on in all those activities to ensure access control and security. Insecurity is a big challenge that comes with receiving visitors and that is why visitor management is important. Traditionally, visitor management is handled physically by recording visitors’ information into a log book and asking visitors to contact their hosts before gaining access to a secured environment but this process is time-consuming and the visitor’s record is exposed to exploitation. Automated Visitor Management Systems (VMS) overcome the shortcomings of the traditional method of visitor management. VMS automates the process of recording visitors’ information, keeping a log of all visits, and ensuring some sort of access control or visitor authentication just in case of an imposter or if anything ever goes wrong. This study aims to design and model a flexible Mobile Visitor Management system that can be used to record visitors’ information and authenticate visitors for access control purposes. The study was achieved using Figma software to design and prototype the system and then using React Native and SQLite for the development of the system. The system has proven to be more convenient than the common traditional way of recording visitors’ information into a physical log book. The system protects its users from loss of information, waste of time, and insecurity. The flexible and inexpensive nature of the system makes it adaptable to almost any organization or property owner, this gives the general public a great opportunity to try out Visitor Management Technology. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In this paper, we focus on a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications system, where a RIS is deployed to create reliable reflection links and alleviate multi-user interference. In the system, each user equipment (UE) is concerned with the freshness of the information received from the base station (BS) and has a certain transmission requirement. The age of information (AoI) is adopted as the metric for information freshness and on this basis, we define the weighted AoI to take into account the satisfaction of UE transmission requirements. Then, an average weighted AoI minimization problem is formulated by jointly optimizing the precoding, the discrete RIS phase shifts, and the scheduling strategy. The problem is decomposed into two subproblems. For the first precoding and RIS design subproblem, we aim to satisfy the transmission requirements of the scheduled UEs with minimum power consumption under a given scheduling strategy. We use the zero-force (ZF)-based precoder and adopt the local search method for the RIS design. For the second scheduling strategy design subproblem, we propose a heuristic scheduling algorithm to minimize the system's average weighted AoI. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of our proposed method over several baseline schemes. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of information technology,IoT devices play a huge role in physiological health data *** exponential growth of medical data requires us to reasonably allocate storage space for cloud servers and edge *** storage capacity of edge nodes close to users is *** should store hotspot data in edge nodes as much as possible,so as to ensure response timeliness and access hit rate;However,the current scheme cannot guarantee that every sub-message in a complete data stored by the edge node meets the requirements of hot data;How to complete the detection and deletion of redundant data in edge nodes under the premise of protecting user privacy and data dynamic integrity has become a challenging *** paper proposes a redundant data detection method that meets the privacy protection *** scanning the cipher text,it is determined whether each sub-message of the data in the edge node meets the requirements of the hot *** has the same effect as zero-knowledge proof,and it will not reveal the privacy of *** addition,for redundant sub-data that does not meet the requirements of hot data,our paper proposes a redundant data deletion scheme that meets the dynamic integrity of the *** use Content Extraction Signature(CES)to generate the remaining hot data signature after the redundant data is *** feasibility of the scheme is proved through safety analysis and efficiency analysis.

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) has become a promising technique to alleviate the spectrum congestion via sharing the same spectrum for communication and sensing. Nevertheless, many ISAC schemes encounter the challenges of high complexity. In this paper, we propose a dual-functional waveform design scheme for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) aided ISAC based on deep unfolding learning. Specifically, the weighted sum of multi-user interference energy and waveform discrepancy is minimized via the joint waveform and phase-shift design. We first develop an alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) based iterative algorithm to handle the non-convex optimization problem. Then, we develop a deep unfolding neural network (NN), named ADMM-NET, which unfolds the proposed ADMM-based iterative algorithm to a layer-wise architecture. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed ADMM-NET. © 2024 IEEE.

Fruit harvesting poses a significant labor and financial burden on the fruit industry, which underscore the urgent need for advancements in robotic harvesting solutions. Despite considerable progress in leveraging deep learning and machine learning techniques for fruit detection, a common shortfall is the inability to swiftly extend the developed models across different orchards and/or various fruit species. Additionally, the limited availability of pertinent data further compounds these challenges. In this work, we introduce MetaFruit, the largest publicly available multi-class fruit dataset, comprising 4,248 images and 248,015 manually labeled instances across diverse U.S. orchards. Furthermore, this study proposes an innovative open-set fruit detection system leveraging advanced Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) for fruit detection that can adeptly identify a wide array of fruit types under varying orchard conditions. This system not only demonstrates remarkable adaptability in learning from minimal data through few-shot learning but also shows the ability to interpret human instructions for subtle detection tasks. The performance of the developed foundation model is comprehensively evaluated across several metrics, outperforming existing state-of-the-art algorithms in our MetaFruit, thereby setting a new benchmark in the field of agricultural technology and robotic harvesting. The MetaFruit dataset (https://***/datasets/jiajiali/metafruit) and detection framework (https://***/JiajiaLi04/FMFruit) are open-sourced to foster future research in vision-based fruit harvesting, marking a significant stride toward addressing the urgent needs of the agricultural sector. © 2024 ASABE Annual International Meeting. Deep convolutional neural networks have been widely used in scene classification of remotely sensed images. In this work, we propose a robust learning method for the task that is secure against partially incorrect categorization of images. Specifically, we remove and correct errors in the labels progressively by iterative multi-view voting and entropy ranking. At each time step, we first divide the training data into disjoint parts for separate training and voting. The unanimity in the voting reveals the correctness of the labels, so that we can train a strong model with only the images with unanimous votes. In addition, we adopt entropy as an effective measure for prediction uncertainty, in order to partially recover labeling errors by ranking and selection. We empirically demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method on the WHU-RS19 dataset and the AID dataset. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions. © 2023 IEEE.
