Graph neural networks (GNNs) are a powerful tool to predict the categories of IoT nodes for providing diverse high-quality services in the social Internet of Things (SIoT). Intuitively, SIoT could be divided into several communities based on similar interests and mutual trust, whereas interaction between cross-community nodes may intrigue data privacy. With the popularity of federated learning (FL), a global GNN model can be collaboratively trained by exploiting knowledge from multiple parties in a privacy-preserving way. However, since node attributes across different SIoT communities are usually multi-source and heterogeneous, the performance of an optimum global model may exhibit potential bias against minority social groups, i.e, unfairness, thereby undermining the efficiency of node classification and social behavior analysis. To address this problem, we propose PFedNC, a proportional fairness-aware federated learning framework for node classification in SIoT system. Specifically, we incorporate proportional fairness and related Nash bargaining solution into FL optimization objective, which imposes more fairness while maintaining a similar average performance. Moreover, we design a class-balanced re-weighting loss function to mitigate imbalanced class distribution caused by non-IID node distribution. Extensive experiments on two node-level SIoT simulation datasets demonstrate that our PFedNC framework effectively encourages performance fairness among social groups and achieves a favorable tradeoff between fairness and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

The power conversion efficiency of organic photovoltaics(OPVs)has witnessed continuous breakthroughs in the past few years,mostly benefiting from the extensive use of a facile ternary blending strategy by blending the host polymer donor:small molecule acceptor mixture with a second small molecule ***,this rather general strategy used in the well-known PM6 systems fails in constructing high-performance P3HT-based ternary *** a result,the efficiencies of all resulting ternary blends based on a benchmark host P3HT:ZY-4Cl and a second acceptor are no more than 8%.Employing the mutual miscibility of the binary blends as a guide to screen the second acceptor,here we were able to break the longstanding 10%-efficiency barrier of ternary OPVs based on P3HT and dual nonfullerene *** this rational approach,we identified a multifunctional small molecule acceptor BTP-2Br to simultaneously improve the photovoltaic performance in both P3HT and PM6-based ternary ***,the P3HT:ZY-4Cl:BTP-2Br ternary blend exhibited a record-breaking efficiency of 11.41%for P3HT-based *** is the first-ever report that over 11%efficiency is achieved for P3HTbased ternary ***,the study helps the community to rely less on trial-and-error methods for constructing ternary solar cells.

Early diagnosis and treatment of polyps during colonoscopy are essential for reducing the incidence and mortality of Colorectal Cancer (CRC). However, the variability in polyp characteristics and the presence of artifacts in colonoscopy images and videos pose significant challenges for accurate and efficient polyp detection and segmentation. This paper presents a novel approach to polyp segmentation by integrating the Segment Anything Model (SAM 2) with the YOLOv8 model. Our method leverages YOLOv8’s bounding box predictions to autonomously generate input prompts for SAM 2, thereby reducing the need for manual annotations. We conducted exhaustive tests on five benchmark colonoscopy image datasets and two colonoscopy video datasets, demonstrating that our method exceeds state-of-the-art models in both image and video segmentation tasks. Notably, our approach achieves high segmentation accuracy using only bounding box annotations, significantly reducing annotation time and effort. This advancement holds promise for enhancing the efficiency and scalability of polyp detection in clinical settings https://***/sajjad-sh33/YOLO_SAM2.

Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

Vision language models (VLMs) have achieved impressive progress in diverse applications, becoming a prevalent research direction. In this paper, we build FIRE, a feedback-refinement dataset, consisting of 1.1M multi-turn conversations that are derived from 27 source datasets, empowering VLMs to spontaneously refine their responses based on user feedback across diverse tasks. To scale up the data collection, FIRE is collected in two components: FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, where FIRE-100K is generated by GPT-4V, and FIRE-1M is freely generated via models trained on FIRE-100K. Then, we build FIRE-Bench, a benchmark to comprehensively evaluate the feedback-refining capability of VLMs, which contains 11K feedback-refinement conversations as the test data, two evaluation settings, and a model to provide feedback for VLMs. We develop the FIRE-LLaVA model by fine-tuning LLaVA on FIRE-100K and FIRE-1M, which shows remarkable feedback-refining capability on FIRE-Bench and outperforms untrained VLMs by 50%, making more efficient user-agent interactions and underscoring the significance of the FIRE dataset. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. With the widespread use of escalators in daily life, escalator-related injury factors are threatening public health. To secure escalator system, most of existing studies focus on post hoc statistics and trend to fix these deficiencies to reduce escalator-related potential risks. However, they are not designed for early-stage detection of impending escalator unsafe factors. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an improved Single Shot MultiBox Detector (SSD) algorithm for anomaly detection of passenger posture on escalators. Firstly, we replace the widely used VGG16 backbone of SSD network by simpler MobileNetV2 to accelerate model inference. Secondly, the distance intersection over Union (DIoU) loss function is introduced to further improve performance. Based on the characteristics of IoU and considering the shortcomings of GIoU, DIoU directly regresses the Euclidean distance between the center points of the two boxes to accelerate the convergence. The experimental results show that the improved SSD escalator passenger posture anomaly detection algorithm can efficiently identify the dangerous posture of escalator passengers and start relevant safety protection measures. According to inference of model, the escalator system can be controlled in practice to formulate the corresponding safety protection measures, and improve the safety performance of the escalator operation. © 2022 IEEE.

The accurate prediction of the friction angle of clays is crucial for assessing slope stability in engineering *** study addresses the importance of estimating the friction angle and presents the development of four soft computing models:YJ-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** of all,the Yeo-Johnson(YJ)transformation technique was used to stabilize the variance of data and make it more suitable for parametric statistical models that assume normality and equal *** technique is expected to improve the accuracy of friction angle prediction *** friction angle prediction models then utilized multi-layer perceptron neural networks(MLPnet)and metaheuristic optimization algorithms to further enhance performance,including flower pollination algorithm(FPA),coral reefs optimization(CRO),ant colony optimization continuous(ACOC),and cuckoo search algorithm(CSA).The prediction models without the YJ technique,***-MLPnet,CRO-MLPnet,ACOC-MLPnet,and CSA-MLPnet,were then compared to those with the YJ technique,***-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** these,the YJ-CRO-MLPnet model demonstrated superior reliability,achieving an accuracy of up to 83%in predicting the friction angle of clay in practical engineering *** improvement is significant,as it represents an increase from 1.3%to approximately 20%compared to the models that did not utilize the YJ transformation technique.

This paper gives a novel differential game scheme to solve the collision avoidance problem for multi-agent *** on the concept of artificial potential field(APF),we combine obstacle avoidance objectives with trajectory optimization targets as the performance *** feedback strategies are based on the solutions of coupled Riccati ***,it is proved that the feedback strategies will converge to a Nash equilibrium(NE).Finally,simulation results are provided to show the advantages,which make agents arrive at the targeted position collision-free with a reduced time.

Data-driven Optimal Control Strategy for Virtual Synchronous Generator via Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

This paper aims at developing a data-driven optimal control strategy for virtual synchronous generator (VSG) in the scenario where no expert knowledge or requirement for system model is available. Firstly, the optimal and adaptive control problem for VSG is transformed into a reinforcement learning task. Specifically, the control variables, i.e., virtual inertia and damping factor, are defined as the actions. Meanwhile, the active power output, angular frequency and its derivative are considered as the observations. Moreover, the reward mechanism is designed based on three preset characteristic functions to quantify the control targets: ① maintaining the deviation of angular frequency within special limits;② preserving well-damped oscillations for both the angular frequency and active power output;③ obtaining slow frequency drop in the transient process. Next, to maximize the cumulative rewards, a decentralized deep policy gradient algorithm, which features model-free and faster convergence, is developed and employed to find the optimal control policy. With this effort, a data-driven adaptive VSG controller can be obtained. By using the proposed controller, the inverter-based distributed generator can adaptively adjust its control variables based on current observations to fulfill the expected targets in model-free fashion. Finally, simulation results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
