This paper investigates the potential of contrastive learning in 6G ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (UM-MIMO) communication systems, specifically focusing on hybrid beamforming under imperfect channel state information (CSI) conditions at THz. UM-MIMO systems are promising for future 6G wireless communication networks due to their high spectral efficiency and capacity. The accuracy of CSI significantly influences the performance of UM-MIMO systems. However, acquiring perfect CSI is challenging due to various practical constraints such as channel estimation errors, feedback delays, and hardware imperfections. To address this issue, we propose a novel self-supervised contrastive learning-based approach for hybrid beamforming, which is robust against imperfect CSI. We demonstrate the power of contrastive learning to tackle the challenges posed by imperfect CSI and show that our proposed method results in improved system performance in terms of achievable rate compared to traditional methods.

The development of population intelligence has shown a great trend of a linear surge in recent years, and a large number of intelligent algorithms inspired by biology have been studied. Among them, differential evolution (DE) algorithms have attracted the attention of many researchers because of their simplicity, high efficiency, powerful search capability, etc. DE has strong exploitability and can approach the global optimum faster, but it cannot avoid the phenomenon of search stagnation and premature convergence. To address the drawbacks of DE, the two-stage bootstrap constrained differential evolution algorithm (TSGCDE) is proposed in this paper. In TSGCDE, instead of the traditional one population, the population is divided into two as a way to increase the diversity of the population. Divided into two stages, each stage searches for optimal solutions in different directions in different populations, and the optimal solutions and the bootstrap solutions generated by the populations in the two stages are bounded by each other’s bootstrap, which makes the DE have a more powerful optimal-seeking ability and easier to jump out of the local optimum. To validate the performance of TSGCDE, we conducted experiments on CEC2013 and CEC2014 benchmarks with some well-known algorithm variants, and the experimental results show that our proposed algorithm is competitive. © 2023, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD. Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases for human health. The classification of cancers poses many challenges in biomedical research because it allows an accurate and effective diagnosis and guarantees the success of medical treatments. In this paper, a new reduced computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system is implemented under the MATLAB (version R2016a) environment to classifying four cancer subtypes. The results of the experiment are carried out with four sets of baseline data on the expression of cancer genes. To validate the proposed CAD system, different performance metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and F-Score are measured. The experimental analysis justifies the effectiveness of the proposed model and, therefore, this model can be considered as an effective tool to help radiologists for a better diagnosis. © 2022 IEEE.

As virtual and augmented reality applications gain popularity, omnidirectional image (ODI) super-resolution has become increasingly important. Unlike 2D plain images that are formed on a plane, ODIs are projected onto spherical surfaces. Applying established image super-resolution methods to ODIs, therefore, requires performing equirectangular projection (ERP) to map the ODIs onto a plane. ODI super-resolution needs to take into account geometric distortion resulting from ERP. However, without considering such geometric distortion of ERP images, previous methods only utilize a limited range of pixels and may easily miss self-similar textures for reconstruction. In this paper, we introduce a novel Geometric Distortion Guided Transformer for Omnidirectional image Super-Resolution (GDGT-OSR). Specifically, a distortion modulated rectangle-window selfattention mechanism, integrated with deformable self-attention, is proposed to better perceive the distortion and thus involve more self-similar textures. Distortion modulation is achieved through a newly devised distortion guidance generator that produces guidance for the rectangular windows by exploiting the variability of distortion across latitudes. Furthermore, we propose a dynamic feature aggregation scheme to adaptively fuse the features from different self-attention modules. We present extensive experimental results on public datasets and show that the new GDGT-OSR outperforms methods in existing literature. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

The conception of a computer-Aided Diagnosis system (CAD) using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a hot topic in the domain of medical diagnosis. Recently, many approaches have been developed. In the proposed work, a novel classification technique from mammograms based on Kernel Extreme Learning Machine (KELM) and Kernel Partial Least Square (KPLS) method is introduced. The suggested algorithm first used the KPLS algorithm to extract features from the images. The extracted characteristics were then sent to the KELM classifier. In order to improve the generalization of the proposed approach, the cross-validation strategy was used. The simulation results were tested on the Mammographic Image Analysis Society (MIAS) dataset and measured using accuracy, F score, sensitivity, and specificity analysis. These results were compared to existing approaches tested on the same dataset and it was observed that the proposed work is the most efficient. © 2022 IEEE.

Joint Optimization for Cooperative Service-Caching, Computation-Offloading, and Resource-Allocations Over EH/MEC 6G Ultra-Dense Mobile Networks

Service-caching, computation-offloading, and mobile edge-computing (MEC) have been widely recognized as three key 6G wireless technologies which can efficiently support implementing the ultra-dense networks (UDNs) with massive small-cell base stations (SBSs). But, these impose the new challenges for the UDNs to solely rely on grid power for energy supplying and to jointly optimize service-caching, computation-offloading, and resource-allocations. To overcome the above described difficulties, integrating energy-harvesting (EH) techniques with MEC-enabled 6G UDNs, we propose to develop the joint optimization schemes for cooperative service-caching, computation-offloading, and resource-allocations. In our considered UDNs, there exist a large number of EH-based stationary users (SUs) or mobile users (MUs), and a mixture of on-grid SBSs powered by electric grid and off-grid SBSs power-supplied by solar, radio frequency (RF) energy, etc. Specifically, first we formulate an energy minimization problem under a non-linear RF-energy EH model to minimize the sum of weighted energy consumption of users and off-grid SBSs. Second, for scenarios with SUs, we develop a two-timescale based joint cooperative service-caching, computation-offloading, and resource-allocations scheme using the hierarchical multi-agent deep reinforcement learning. We derive cooperative service-caching in each time frame, and then derive computation-offloading and resource-allocations in each time slot. Third, we extend our work to scenarios with MUs, where MUs can move with certain trajectories at low speeds. Finally, we validate and evaluate the performances of our proposed schemes through the extensive simulations. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications is an enabling technology to transmit control signaling or payload data for UAVs through cellular networks. Due to the line-of-sight dominant air-to-ground channels, efficient interference mitigation is crucial to UAV communications, while the conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA) arrays have limited degrees of freedom to suppress the interference between the UAV and its non-associated co-channel base stations (BSs). To address this challenge, we propose in this letter a new approach by utilizing the six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) arrays to enhance the interference mitigation for the UAV. Specifically, we propose an efficient block coordinate descent algorithm to iteratively optimize the antenna position vector, array rotation vector, receive beamforming vector, and associated BS of the UAV to maximize its signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. Numerical results show that the proposed 6DMA enhanced cellular-connected UAV communication can significantly outperform that with the traditional FPA arrays and other benchmark schemes in terms of interference mitigation. © 2025 IEEE. Semen quality assessment is a very important tool for the timely detection and treatment of infertility disorders. Many artificial intelligence methods for sperm image analysis have emerged in recent years. Sperm detection in sperm microscopy is the first step in semen quality assessment. However, the acquisition of sperm electron microscopy images can produce a variety of different background lighting situations. The performance of established methods is susceptible to changes in background illumination. Therefore, a sperm detection method with heterogeneous Laplacian distribution noise background modeling (HLDNBM) is proposed. In this paper the method uses background illumination surface fitting to eliminate the effect of illumination in a single sperm image, and realizes the segmentation of sperm head and sperm tail with different grayscale by upper and lower segmentation threshold surfaces to achieve complete sperm image segmentation and multi-target detection in a single image. This method effectively avoids the degradation of target detection performance caused by sudden changes in illumination in other background modeling methods. Moreover, this method shows strong adaptability for images with different lighting backgrounds, and is friendly to small datasets as well. The experimental results show that the accuracy and sensitivity of the algorithm for sperm detection in images with different grayscale characteristics are very promising, with high universality and robustness. © 2023 IEEE.

In many fields, time series prediction is gaining more and more attention, e.g., air pollution, geological hazards, and network traffic prediction. Water quality prediction is based on historical data to predict future water quality. However, it is difficult to learn a representation map from a time series that captures the trends and fluctuations to effectively remove noise from time series data and capture complex nonlinear relationships. To solve these problems, this work proposes a time series prediction model, called PSGT for short, which integrates Patch Savitsky-Golay filtering and Transformer. First, this work adopts a Patching method to embed sub-time series data and obtains the trends and semantic information of the time series. Second, it uses the Savitsky-Golay filtering to effectively remove the noise data in the patch and improve the prediction accuracy. Third, it uses a Transformer mechanism to address the nonlinear problem of water quality time series and improve long-term prediction capability. Two real-world datasets are utilized to evaluate the proposed PSGT, and experiments prove that PSGT performs better than other benchmark models by at least 6%. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of extracting inter and intra-modal interactions, contemporary models often face challenges such as reduced computational efficiency, particularly when dealing with lengthy visual sequences. To address these issues, this study introduces an innovative model, the Cross-Sketch with Dual Gated Attention Network (CSDNet), designed to handle second-order intra- and inter-modal interactions by integrating a couple of attention modules. Leveraging bilinear pooling to effectively capture these second-order interactions typically requires substantial computational resources due to the processing of large-dimensional tensors. Due to these resource demands, the first module Cross-Sketch Attention (CSA) is proposed, which employs Cross-Tensor Sketch Pooling on attention features to reduce dimensionality while preserving crucial information without sacrificing caption quality. Furthermore, to enhance caption by integrating another novel attention module, Dual Gated Attention (DGA), which contributes additional spatial and channel-wise attention distributions to improve caption generation performance. Our method demonstrates significant computational efficiency improvements, reducing computation time per epoch by an average of 13.54% compared to the base model, which leads to expedited convergence and improved performance metrics. Additionally, we observe a 0.07% enhancement in the METEOR score compared to the base model. Through the application of reinforcement learning optimization, our model achieves a remarkable CIDEr-D score of 132.2% on the MS-COCO dataset. This consistently outperforms baseline performance across a comprehensive range of evaluation metrics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
