To satisfy the stringent quality-of-service (QoS) requirements of 6G mobile wireless networks on both channel state estimations and information transmissions, the integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) has been an enabling technique to sense and communicate by sharing the same frequency band and hardware. Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) has also emerged to simultaneously deliver information and energy to a receiver. However, how to integrate ISAC with SWIPT to support the 6G traffic has imposed many new challenges not encountered before. To conquer these difficulties, in this paper we propose an integrated sensing, communications, and powering (ISACP) scheme for supporting statistical-QoS provisioning over 6G wireless networks using massive multiple-input and multiple-output (massive MIMO) communications. First, we establish system models for our ISACP scheme and define the Cramér-Rao bound and channel estimation distortion under our proposed ISACP scheme. Second, we develop the performance metrics of Cramér-Rao bound and channel estimation distortion to derive the capacity-distortion function to jointly measure the performance of integrated sensing, communication, and powering. Third, we integrate the capacity-distortion function with the finite blocklength coding (FBC) through deriving the ISACP-based ϵ-effective capacity to support the statistical delay and error-rate bounded QoS provisioning in 6G. Fourth, we maximize the energy-efficiency by controlling the optimal wireless power transfer for our ISACP scheme. Finally, we use numerical analyses to validate and evaluate our proposed ISACP scheme.

The massive ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (mURLLC) services are emerging as a new traffic type to support massive numbers of mobile users (MUs) demanding the stringent delay and error-rate bounded quality-of-services (QoS) requirements over 6G. Among multiple 6G mURLLC services, digital twins (DT) has been widely envisioned as a major intelligent application to support efficient interactions between physical and virtual objects. Moreover, multi-tier caching, which is one of the key distributed computing techniques, stores the frequently-demanded data items at different wireless network tiers to efficiently reduce mURLLC streaming delay and data move. However, how to efficiently cache mURLLC-based DT data items at different caching tiers of wireless networks and how to statistically upper-bound both delay and error-rate for DT communications remain challenging problems. To overcome these difficulties, in this paper we propose a multi-tier caching mechanism to support DT communications over 6 G mobile networks. First, we propose the DT data adaptive collection scheme applying finite blocklength coding (FBC) to dynamically encode a physical object into its virtual representation according to the current network and wireless channel statuses. Second, we develop inter-tier and intra-tier collaborative caching mechanisms, where DT data items are selectively cached at different wireless network caching tiers according to their popularities including: router tier, massive-multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) basestation tier, and mobile device tier. Third, our proposed intertier collaborative caching mechanisms maximize the aggregate $\epsilon$ effective capacity across all three caching tiers, and our proposed intra-tier collaborative caching mechanisms minimize the sum of data transmission delay for all DT data items cached in each caching tier. In this work, we propose a method for tracking multiple extended targets or unresolvable group targets in clutter environment. Firstly, based on the Random Matrix Model (RMM), the joint state of the target is modeled as the Gamma Gaussian Inverse Wishart (GGIW) distribution. Considering the uncertainty of measurement origin caused by the clutters, we adopt the idea of probabilistic data association and describe the joint association event as an unknown parameter in the joint prior distribution. Then the Variational Bayesian Inference (VBI) is employed to approximately solve the non-analytical posterior distribution. Furthermore, to ensure the practicability of the proposed method, we further provide two potential lightweight schemes to reduce its computational complexity. One of them is based on clustering, which effectively prunes the joint association events. The other is a simplification of the variational posterior through marginal association probabilities. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation and real data experiments, and we show that the proposed method outperforms current state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy and adaptability. We introduce a novel framework for analyzing reinforcement learning (RL) in continuous state-action spaces, and use it to prove fast rates of convergence in both off-line and on-line settings. Our analysis highlights two key stability properties, relating to how changes in value functions and/or policies affect the Bellman operator and occupation measures. We argue that these properties are satisfied in many continuous state-action Markov decision processes. Our analysis also offers fresh perspectives on the roles of pessimism and optimism in off-line and on-line RL. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

This research presents a robust chirplet decomposition algorithm designed for hardware implementation, specifically aimed at enhancing ultrasonic nondestructive testing and imaging. The study focuses on developing an algorithm and an FPGA hardware module that enable real-time chirplet decomposition, emphasizing increased processing speed while maintaining echo accuracy. A novel Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE)-based parameter estimation algorithm was developed to improve chirplet parameter estimation, enhancing both accuracy and convergence speed. This high-performance platform enables real-time ultrasonic imaging for flaw detection in steel specimens, demonstrating significant improvements in defect detection and characterization. The resultant platform has been tested against four alternative platforms to evaluate its effectiveness in enhancing execution times. Remarkably, when compared to similar embedded platforms, this speed-optimized platform achieves a 150-fold increase in processing speed, surpassing the next fastest embedded platform, the Teensy 4.0, which includes a Cortex-M7 processor operating at 600MHz. Additionally, when compared to an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, this platform operates 6.6 times faster.

Although the surveillance industry is growing due to increased concerns for public safety, traditional surveillance systems can be ineffective due to fixed positions, limited coverage, and the need for human operation. This paper proposes an edge computing surveillance system that can detect, track, and identify human presence using AI software. The system includes a video camera integrated into a structure that allows pan and tilt movements and a processing unit that performs all computations locally. The system can operate in two different modes, manual and automatic, and it can be controlled from a user-friendly web application. The manual mode allows the user to control the camera remotely, adjusting the position with buttons and handling additional functionalities like zoom. On the other hand, in automatic mode, the system detects people and identifies if they are an unknown subject or not. Identifications are recorded in an online log and the system takes pictures of unknown people to recognize recurrent intruders.

Due to its superior performance and fewer parameters, CAM++ has become the state-of-the-art model for speaker verification tasks. This model uses 2D convolutional blocks to extract front-end features, which are then fed into a densely connected time-delay neural network backbone to extract deep features. However, the simple stacking of 2D convolutions may lead to the generation of a significant amount of redundant features, which is detrimental to efficient feature extraction. Furthermore, although CAM++ already has a relatively small number of parameters, there is still room for further optimization. To address these issues, this paper first employs depthwise separable convolutions to replace the dilated convolutions in the backend network of CAM++, making the model more lightweight. Next, we introduce spatial and channel reconstruction convolution (SCConv) in the ResBlock module of CAM++ to reduce redundant features and optimize the feature extraction process. Finally, after SCConv, we apply squeeze and excitation attention mechanism to model the interdependencies between channels and recalibrate each channel, further enhancing the model’s representational capacity. We name the resulting model LE-CAM++. Our proposed model achieves an EER of 0.686 and a minDCF of 0.084 on the VoxCeleb1-O dataset. Compared to the baseline model CAM++, the EER is reduced by 11%, and the minDCF is reduced by 28%. Additionally, the model parameters are reduced by 8%. ©2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a multifunctional quadruped robot, specifically engineered for comprehensive air quality monitoring and emergency assistance. Designed to navigate through urban environments, the robot autonomously collects and transmits real-time air quality data to a centralized database. The utilization of data analytics to gain insights into the game of basketball has seen a remarkable surge in the past decade. Leagues such as the National Basketball Association are continuously exploring innovative methods to analyze game data, an approach that has significantly influenced the dynamics of the game. But to perform these analyses, a growing amount of data is needed, which is traditionally annotated by humans. This work proposes a 3-stage system able to automatically acquire relevant basketball game data from a broadcast video. The first stage is an object detector combined with a tracking algorithm to extract the main elements present in a basketball game video. Then, the players' visual information is analyzed to identify the players based on pixel color analysis and number recognition. Finally, a statistics generation algorithm assigns the game events to the corresponding player and team, so that the system can be used as an aid for box score annotation in major leagues, low-cost annotation in amateur games, or in-depth game video analysis.

This paper presents the creation of an innovative autonomous security robot designed to perform security functions with efficiency and reliability. The robot boasts mapping capabilities, which it utilizes to facilitate autonomous patrol in designated areas. Its primary operations involve the use of computer vision to detect violence, identify weapons and dangerous items, and recognize individuals. Critical incidents are met with an immediate alarm and the subsequent transmission of data to a central security server, which then generates comprehensive reports displayed through a web application for security personnel. The application itself features remote control of the robot, incident report management, status updates, and incident analytics. The robot demonstrates substantial real-world application potential, particularly in crowded environments where it could outperform conventional surveillance. The project combines concepts of engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity, functioning per design but with considerable potential for future refinement and expansion, embodying the concept of an evolving technological solution.
