Advancements in neuromorphic computing have given an impetus to the development of systems with adaptive behavior,dynamic responses,and energy efficiency *** charge-based or emerging memory technologies such as memristors have been developed to emulate synaptic plasticity,replicating the key functionality of neurons—integrating diverse presynaptic inputs to fire electrical impulses—has remained *** this study,we developed reconfigurable metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors(MOSCaps)based on hafnium diselenide(HfSe2).The proposed devices exhibit(1)optoelectronic synaptic features and perform separate stimulus-associated learning,indicating considerable adaptive neuron emulation,(2)dual light-enabled charge-trapping and memcapacitive behavior within the same MOSCap device,whose threshold voltage and capacitance vary based on the light intensity across the visible spectrum,(3)memcapacitor volatility tuning based on the biasing conditions,enabling the transition from volatile light sensing to non-volatile optical data *** reconfigurability and multifunctionality of MOSCap were used to integrate the device into a leaky integrate-and-fire neuron model within a spiking neural network to dynamically adjust firing patterns based on light stimuli and detect exoplanets through variations in light intensity.

As the adoption of explainable AI(XAI) continues to expand, the urgency to address its privacy implications intensifies. Despite a growing corpus of research in AI privacy and explainability, there is little attention on privacy-preserving model explanations. This article presents the first thorough survey about privacy attacks on model explanations and their countermeasures. Our contribution to this field comprises a thorough analysis of research papers with a connected taxonomy that facilitates the categorization of privacy attacks and countermeasures based on the targeted explanations. This work also includes an initial investigation into the causes of privacy leaks. Finally, we discuss unresolved issues and prospective research directions uncovered in our analysis. This survey aims to be a valuable resource for the research community and offers clear insights for those new to this domain. To support ongoing research, we have established an online resource repository, which will be continuously updated with new and relevant findings.

Provision of Ramp-rate Limitation as Ancillary Service from Distribution to Transmission System:Definitions and Methodologies for Control and Sizing of Central Battery Energy Storage System

The variability of the output power of distributed renewable energy sources(DRESs)that originate from the fastchanging climatic conditions can negatively affect the grid ***,grid operators have incorporated ramp-rate limitations(RRLs)for the injected DRES power in the grid *** the DRES penetration levels increase,the mitigation of high-power ramps is no longer considered as a system support function but rather an ancillary service(AS).Energy storage systems(ESSs)coordinated by RR control algorithms are often applied to mitigate these power ***,no unified definition of active power ramps,which is essential to treat the RRL as AS,currently *** paper assesses the various definitions for ramp-rate RR and proposes RRL method control for a central battery ESS(BESS)in distribution systems(DSs).The ultimate objective is to restrain high-power ramps at the distribution transformer level so that RRL can be traded as AS to the upstream transmission system(TS).The proposed control is based on the direct control of theΔP/Δt,which means that the control parameters are directly correlated with the RR requirements included in the grid *** addition,a novel method for restoring the state of charge(So C)within a specific range following a high ramp-up/down event is ***,a parametric method for estimating the sizing of central BESSs(BESS sizing for short)is *** BESS sizing is determined by considering the RR requirements,the DRES units,and the load mix of the examined *** BESS sizing is directly related to the constant RR achieved using the proposed ***,the proposed methodologies are validated through simulations in MATLAB/Simulink and laboratory tests in a commercially available BESS.

Optoelectronic devices are advantageous in in-memory light sensing for visual information processing,recognition,and storage in an energy-efficient ***,in-memory light sensors have been proposed to improve the energy,area,and time efficiencies of neuromorphic computing *** study is primarily focused on the development of a single sensing-storage-processing node based on a two-terminal solution-processable MoS2 metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS)charge-trapping memory structure—the basic structure for charge-coupled devices(CCD)—and showing its suitability for in-memory light sensing and artificial visual *** memory window of the device increased from 2.8 V to more than 6V when the device was irradiated with optical lights of different wavelengths during the program ***,the charge retention capability of the device at a high temperature(100 ℃)was enhanced from 36 to 64%when exposed to a light wavelength of 400 *** larger shift in the threshold voltage with an increasing operating voltage confirmed that more charges were trapped at the Al_(2)O_(3)/MoS_(2) interface and in the MoS_(2) layer.A small convolutional neural network was proposed to measure the optical sensing and electrical programming abilities of the *** array simulation received optical images transmitted using a blue light wavelength and performed inference computation to process and recognize the images with 91%*** study is a significant step toward the development of optoelectronic MOS memory devices for neuromorphic visual perception,adaptive parallel processing networks for in-memory light sensing,and smart CCD cameras with artificial visual perception capabilities.

Privacy concerns the majority of individuals, governments, and organizations that share data over dissimilar networks of nodes. Every kind of participant requires awareness of the data journey that unfolds inside a blockchain network with its own trustworthy rules of data management and accessibility. This paper provides a methodological approach on privacy for data sharing within blockchain environments. Specific technological aspects of blockchains that relate to on-chain privacy such as network nature, party join, smart contracts, blockchain states, transactions, and ledger flows, are analysed with respect to the involvement and impact of privacy in distributed ledgers. A high-level architectural approach is suggested that is intended to address significant privacy concerns on data sharing among different kinds of users in the context of blockchain networks deployment and the broader Web 3.0 ecosystem building. Simultaneously, many pertinent challenges are discussed regarding network nature, configurable privacy, ownership, confidentiality, secured computation, and data monetization that appear in the field and ought to be carefully tackled for the future mass adoption of privacy-matured distributed ledgers that interconnect delivering the future Internet. © 2023 The Authors. Hierarchical Scheduling for Oil Spill SAR Image Detection in Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks

Oil spills represent significant environmental hazards in ocean ecosystems, requiring rapid and accurate detection and response mechanisms. Due to its efficacy, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an important tool for remote monitoring of ocean environments. However, operational constraints such as communication time between low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and ground stations (GS), as well as finite buffers, pose challenges. To address these issues, this paper proposes a space-air-ground-integrated network (SAGIN) scenario comprising LEO satellites, high altitude platforms (HAPs), and ground stations (GSs), suitable for rapid and accurate oil spill detection using SAR images. In addition, a novel three-step algorithm is proposed to facilitate SAR image transmission effectively. The first step of the proposed algorithm focuses on maximizing the transmission of ocean SAR images from the LEO satellites to the HAPs. This optimization involves the neural Myerson auction (NMA)-based scheduler, a second-price auction mechanism with deep learning methodologies for truthfulness, distributed computation, and low computational complexity. In addition, the pathloss is also considered for effective communication system design. The second step algorithm aims to maximize data transmission efficiency from HAPs to GSs, employing scheduling strategies based on the Markov decision process (MDP). This algorithm enables optimal decision-making over time steps, considering the throughput of each GS and the age of the information (AoI) ratio. Finally, an image compression rate control algorithm based on Lyapunov optimization is employed at the GSs to enhance detection accuracy while ensuring queue stability. The performance of the proposed three-step algorithm is intensively evaluated against various benchmark algorithms, demonstrating its superiority in oil spill detection efficacy. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Joint Quantum Reinforcement Learning and Neural Myerson Auction for High-Quality Digital-Twin Services in Multi-Tier Networks

In order to build realistic digital-twin systems, this paper proposes a novel two-stage algorithm for high-quality digital-twin services in cloud-assisted multi-tier networks. In our proposed algorithm, the first stage is quantum multi-agent reinforcement learning (QMARL)-based scheduling for differentiated quality control of individual segments of digital-twin virtual objects in our cloud. As the number of segments selected by each edge increases, the edge's action dimension expands exponentially, posing significant challenges to learning with conventional MARL. To solve this problem, the quantum-inspired MARL-based scheduler is considered in order to reduce the scheduling action dimensions into a logarithmic-scale. For the scheduling formulation, age-of-information (AoI) is also considered for low-latency high-quality digital-twin services. Additionally, the second stage is for the fast and seamless distribution of differentiated quality-controlled segments of virtual objects. For this objective, each user requests its desired segments and one of nearby edges is selected. Among various approaches, this second stage considers second price auction for truthful and distributed computation. Furthermore, low-complexity computation can be realized by avoiding integer programming based computation which is NP-hard. The proposed two-stage algorithm achieves performance levels that are 8.33 and 1.18 times higher in terms of reward value in high dimensions and revenue, respectively, compared to other benchmarks. © 2014 IEEE.

In this paper, we construct Error-Correcting Graph Codes. An error-correcting graph code of distance δ is a family C of graphs, on a common vertex set of size n, such that if we start with any graph in C, we would have to modify the neighborhoods of at least δn vertices in order to obtain some other graph in C. This is a natural graph generalization of the standard Hamming distance error-correcting codes for binary strings. Yohananov and Yaakobi were the first to construct codes in this metric. We extend their work by showing 1. Combinatorial results determining the optimal rate vs distance trade-off nonconstructively. 2. Graph code analogues of Reed-Solomon codes and code concatenation, leading to positive distance codes for all rates and positive rate codes for all distances. 3. Graph code analogues of dual-BCH codes, yielding large codes with distance δ = 1 - o(1). This gives an explicit "graph code of Ramsey graphs". Several recent works, starting with the paper of Alon, Gujgiczer, Körner, Milojević, and Simonyi, have studied more general graph codes;where the symmetric difference between any two graphs in the code is required to have some desired property. electrical grids are increasingly congested, which causes stability and safety risks. To get more insights in how congestion can be managed, this paper analyses whether bus characteristics exist that have a consistent influence on grid loading. To study this, a metric for quantifying bus influence on grid loading is introduced and applied in two case studies. The first case study investigates if there are characteristics that correlate with congestion consistently, regardless of grid topology. The results from this case study suggest that none of the evaluated characteristics consistently correlate with grid loading. These results imply that topology should be explicitly considered in congestion management. The second case study investigates the variance in the correlation between bus characteristics and influence, within a single topology, over a variety of conditions. The results of the second case study suggest that this correlation is robust to reasonable changes in bus loads. © 2024 IEEE.
