Active distribution network(ADN),as a typically cyber-physical system,develops with the evolution of Internet of Things(IoTs),which makes the network vulnerable to cybersecurity *** this paper,the eavesdropping attacks that lead to privacy breaches are addressed for the IoT-enabled ADN.A privacy-preserving energy management system(EMS)is proposed and empowered by secure data exchange protocols based on the homomorphic *** the information transmission among distributed generators and load customers in the EMS,private information including power usage and electricity bidding price can be effectively protected against eavesdropping *** correctness of the final solutions,e.g.,optimal market clearing price and unified power utilization ratio,can be deterministically *** simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and the computational efficiency of the proposed homomorphically encrypted EMS.

The growing demand for reliable and sustainable energy has driven researchers and engineers to explore renewable energy sources to complement traditional power grids. Wind energy conversion systems (WECS), particularly those using permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSG), are among the most widely adopted renewable energy solutions. Integrating WECS into traditional grids introduces challenges, including power system oscillations, especially during disturbances or faults. Inertia control and power electronics converters are pivotal in mitigating these oscillations and ensuring grid stability. This review investigates the design and optimization of damping controllers, emphasizing their integration with excitation systems to enhance the dynamic performance of PMSG-based wind integrated grids. Additionally, the role of power electronics in control strategies and inertia emulation for stable grid operation is discussed. The findings highlight the critical importance of advanced control measures in addressing the inherent uncertainties of renewable energy systems integrated with conventional grids. © 2025 IEEE.

Generalized Two-Point Visual Control Model of Human Steering for Accurate State Estimation1

We derive and validate a generalization of the two-point visual control model, an accepted cognitive science model for human steering behavior. The generalized model is needed as current steering models are either insufficiently accurate or too complex for online state estimation. We demonstrate that the generalized model replicates specific human steering behavior with high precision (85% reduction in modeling error) and integrate this model into a human-as-advisor framework where human steering inputs are used for state estimation. As a benchmark study, we use this framework to decipher ambiguous lane markings represented by biased lateral position measurements. We demonstrate that, with the generalized model, the state estimator can accurately estimate the true vehicle state, providing lateral state estimates with under 0.15 m error across participants. However, without the generalized model, the estimator cannot accurately estimate the vehicle's lateral state. © 2024 by ASME.

This article studies a new stator-permanent magnet (PM) motor with flux-switching (FS) and flux-reversal (FR) effects synergies. The proposed structure benefits from the splitting stator pole PMs and consequent-pole FRPM, which reduces the PM utilization compared to the conventional ones. Also, the proposed structure is optimized by a random search multiobjective algorithm to attain the structure with the highest output torque and minimum torque ripple. Additionally, the proposed motor is compared to a conventional FSPM to investigate the advantages of the main motor. Using finite element analysis (FEA) studies, the flux density distribution results show that the FR effect lowers the saturation risk compared to FSPM. Also, the back-EMF generation of the proposed motor has improved by 135% compared to its benchmark. Correspondingly, fullload results show that the proposed topology has enhanced the average torque by 75% and deteriorated the ripple by about 55% compared to FSPM. Therefore, the proposed structure offers a profitable for high torque density applications. © 2025 IEEE.

The traditional model-based energy management strategy (EMS) for regenerative braking energy storage systems (RBESSs) is obsoleting in the face of increasingly complex and uncertain operation conditions in railway power systems (RPSs). In this article, a model-free deep reinforcement learning (DRL) method is proposed. First, the multiobjective energy management problem for RBESS is formulated to concurrently achieve the regenerative braking energy (RBE) utilization and power demand shaving of RPS. Then, this problem is modeled as a Markov decision process (MDP) to be solved by the DRL-based method. Specifically, the RBESS controller is modeled as an agent to interact with the environment modeled as the RPS integrated with RBESS. To coordinate the agent to learn the optimal strategies regarding multiple energy management objectives in different timescales, a multistage reward function (MSRF) involving the step reward and final reward is designed. Based on the above elements, the double deep Q-learning algorithm is applied to train the agent for optimizing the EMS. Finally, the proposed DRL-based EMS is tested on the OPAL-RT experimental platform by using the field load data. Case studies have demonstrated that the proposed method outperforms the traditional rule-based and optimization-based methods by over 5% in the energy management objective. © 2015 IEEE.

Autonomous Vehicle System (AVS) is rapidly advancing and is expected to completely transform the transportation industry, bringing about a new era of mobility. As digital data proliferation strains network resources, the demand for performing resource-intensive edge-assisted Deep Learning tasks in AVS with limited computational resources becomes increasingly challenging. The advent of 5G and future cellular networks (NextG) offers the promise of facilitating the seamless execution of these tasks. This research aims to diminish dataset size, in harmony with the integration capabilities of the Semantic and Flexible Open Radio Access Network (SEMO-RAN) framework, which is anticipated to reduce latency and refine resource allocation in vehicle image processing. The focus of this study is on optimizing image compression without compromising the accuracy of vehicle classification, leveraging esteemed Convolutional Neural Network models like YOLOv5. By employing Generative Adversarial Network compression and Wavelet Image Compression methods, our study achieves an impressive 81.82% reduction in data size while maintaining a 96.97% accuracy in classification tasks. This underscores the potential for significant efficiency gains in AVS through improved data management, supported by Digital Twins (DT), Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and O-RAN. © 2024 IEEE.

Contrastive Self-Supervised Speaker Embedding With Sequential Disentanglement

Contrastive self-supervised learning has been widely used in speaker embedding to address the labeling challenge. Contrastive speaker embedding assumes that the contrast between the positive and negative pairs of speech segments is attributed to speaker identity only. However, this assumption is incorrect because speech signals contain not only speaker identity but also linguistic content. In this paper, we propose a contrastive learning framework with sequential disentanglement to remove linguistic content by incorporating a disentangled sequential variational autoencoder (DSVAE) into the conventional contrastive learning framework. The DSVAE aims to disentangle speaker factors from content factors in an embedding space so that the speaker factors become the main contributor to the contrastive loss. Because content factors have been removed from contrastive learning, the resulting speaker embeddings will be content-invariant. The learned embeddings are also robust to language mismatch. It is shown that the proposed method consistently outperforms the conventional contrastive speaker embedding on the VoxCeleb1 and CN-Celeb datasets. This finding suggests that applying sequential disentanglement is beneficial to learning speaker-discriminative embeddings. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper proposed a PCB-based integrated magnetics with a winding cancellation technique to reduce common-mode (CM) noise for an 11kW single-phase CLLC (1PCLLC) resonant converter. Shielding design is effective in reducing CM noise, however, its benefits come along with increased cost with more layers of Printed-Circuit-Board (PCB) and increased winding loss due to increased eddy effect in the shielding layers. More shielding layers are required for multiple-turn applications, which makes the idle shielding design unattractive. Implementing windings as active shielding for noise cancellation is a good solution. A symmetrical 1PCLLC converter with symmetrical resonant tanks and symmetrical integrated magnetics is required to achieve the winding cancellation technique. The effectiveness of the proposed concept was demonstrated through a high-efficiency, high-power density 1PCLLC DC/DC converter for an 800V 11kW onboard charger (OBC). The designed converter can achieve a power density of 420 W/in3 and a peak efficiency of 98.5%. Compared with the existing solution, the proposed integrated transformer with winding cancellation techniques shows 17dB CM noise reduction at switching frequency. © 2024 IEEE.
