Taking into account the world´s growing population and climate change, there is a need to decarbonize production processes and, in particular, intensive cultures carried out in greenhouses. There is a need to boost the energy and water efficiency of these cyber-physical systems, taking into account human consumption or floriculture, as well as European Community (EEC) and United Nations agreements and pledges, such as the European Green Deal (EGD) or the REPowerEU Plan [1,2] t is critical to develop systems that use integrated models to control these sorts of intense production, collect physical variable factors more efficiently, and achieve improved and zero greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). Finally, it is crucial for a digitalization in these intensive crops, in precision farm or greenhouses. The main objective of this work focuses on the conception of a portable automatic sensing system (PASS) for pH, electroconductivity and water flow, to control irrigation water quality in precision farm/greenhouses. The data collected by these sensors are made available in a mobile app for consultation by the operator. Another objective will be the local production of electrical and thermal energy from renewable sources (solar and biomass), hybrid systems and the use of cogeneration to supply energy to the greenhouse. This work leverages tools from evolutionary game theory to solve unconstrained nonconvex optimization problems. Specifically, we lift such a problem to an optimization over probability measures, whose minimizers exactly correspond to the Nash equilibria of a particular population game. To algorithmically solve for such Nash equilibria, we introduce approximately Gaussian replicator flows (AGRFs) as a tractable alternative to simulating the corresponding infinite-dimensional replicator dynamics. Our proposed AGRF dynamics can be integrated using off-the-shelf ODE solvers when considering objectives with closed-form integrals against a Gaussian measure. We theoretically analyze AGRF dynamics by explicitly characterizing their trajectories and stability on quadratic objective functions, in addition to analyzing their descent properties. Our methods are supported by illustrative experiments on a range of canonical nonconvex optimization benchmark functions.

The robustness and relative insensitivity to misalignments and mismatches make the LCC topology popular in wireless power transfer (WPT) applications, including more challenging dynamic or multi-receiver WPT systems. The output of LCC topology based WPT systems is typically regulated by an additional dc-dc converter stage, either before or after the WPT stage. The additional dc-dc stage increases the cost and complexity of the system and would require wireless communication for output regulation if placed on the transmitter side, making the system susceptible to electromagnetic interference. In this paper, a receiver side modulation scheme based on a variable inductor controlled notch filter is proposed. By modulating the variable inductor, the output can be independently adjustable in a wide-range. The variable inductor is controlled with simple pulse width modulation (PWM). The proposed control scheme is especially suitable for multi-receiver WPT systems; where transmitter based regulation schemes cannot simultaneously accommodate multiple receivers. The proposed system is verified experimentally with a 48-V o(max) , 72-W prototype WPT system with multi-receiver capability.

The Internet of Things (IoT) seeks to establish a vast network comprising billions of interconnected devices to enable seamless data exchange and intelligent interactions between people and objects. This network is characterized by openness, diversity, and dynamicity, leading to trust issues that impede the widespread adoption of IoT. Trust management plays a crucial role in identifying malicious nodes, fostering trust relationships, and bolstering system security. Conventional trust management systems face significant challenges that hinder their effectiveness in supporting IoT development. Blockchain, as a disruptive technology, shows promise in addressing these trust management challenges by leveraging its decentralized, consistent, and tamper-proof features. This study aims to enhance trust in the Internet of Things by leveraging blockchain technology. The article introduces key concepts such as blockchain technology, CTL (Certificate Trust List), IoT, and trust management, emphasizing critical research and development in trust management models. To highlight the importance of blockchain in maintaining trust, a novel trust management model is proposed, incorporating CTL to validate IoT Devices’ legitimacy in blockchain transactions. Finally, the article assesses the efficiency of the proposed model, with the outcomes providing strong proof of its effectiveness. Our simulation results indicate that utilizing the PoW (Proof of Work) consensus model in an IoT system may not be the most optimal approach. The model we have presented displays a reduced memory growth rate of only 0.39% per block. This enhancement is projected to greatly improve the process of block verification. Specifically, the PoW algorithm took 4.2 seconds to incorporate 10 blocks, whereas our model completed the same task in just 0.61 seconds.

Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs), often referred to as third-generation neural networks, are inspired by the workings of the human brain and are celebrated for their energy efficiency, positioning them as a promising alternative to traditional Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). However, SNNs face significant challenges in robustness, particularly under adversarial attacks, which can undermine their performance in real-world applications. This survey provides a detailed examination of adversarial attacks targeting SNNs, categorizing existing attack methods and defense mechanisms while highlighting inherent structural characteristics and training approaches that influence robustness. Unlike prior surveys that focus primarily on adversarial attacks in traditional ANNs, this work is the first to consolidate and critically analyze adversarial strategies and defenses specific to SNNs. Furthermore, we quantitatively compare SNNs with ANNs in terms of their susceptibility to adversarial attacks, offering new insights into the unique challenges and opportunities presented by SNNs. These contributions establish this survey as a foundational reference for advancing robust SNN research and development.

DC microgrids are a feasible grid system to host multiple distributed generators (DGs). In terms of the control and coordination of hosted DGs, the enhanced stability and fast dynamics of DC microgrids are required. To achieve these objectives, this paper proposes a comprehensive strategy that meticulously accounts for the impacts of transmission line impedances and constant power loads (CPLs). The strategy is architected with a dual-layer control approach: a stability enhancement controller is embedded within the primary control layer, while a novel distributed fixed-time controller is deployed in the secondary control layer, ensuring a robust and fast system performance. Specifically, for the primary control layer, the maximum tolerable CPL is firstly calculated using the reduced-order model and the impedance ratio criterion, contributing to more accurate and less conservative results. Additionally, a stability enhancement controller is designed to reshape the system's equivalent output impedance, improving both steady-state and transient stability of the DC microgrid and enabling the accommodation of larger CPLs. For the secondary control layer, a novel fixed-time secondary control scheme is put forward to achieve a concurrent DC bus voltage regulation and current sharing among DGs within a fixed time. Importantly, this method requires the transmission of only one variable to neighboring DGs, significantly decreasing communication traffic compared to the existing latest methods. The stability of the proposed scheme is theoretically proved through Lyapunov-based analysis. Case study results are presented to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed strategy. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Tractor-trailer wheeled robots (TTWRs) have gained significant attention across various industries and control studies due to their complex dynamics and non-minimum phase behavior, which pose substantial control challenges. This study investigates the control of a differentially-driven tractor to follow a specified path under pure rolling conditions in both forward and backward motion. Notably, it has been established that using static feedback linearization (SFL) leads to instability during backward motion. In contrast, this research uses dynamic feedback linearization (DFL), also known as dynamic extension, for controlling the tractor-trailer system in both directions for the first time. Our findings demonstrate that the internal dynamics of the system remain stable in both forward and backward motions, enabling successful adherence to the desired path. © 2024 IEEE.

Path Planning and Optimization for Cuspidal 6R Manipulators

A cuspidal robot can move from one inverse kinematics (IK) solution to another without crossing a singularity. Multiple industrial robots are cuspidal. They tend to have a beautiful mechanical design, but they pose path planning challenges. A task-space path may have a valid IK solution for each point along the path, but a continuous joint-space path may depend on the choice of the IK solution or even be infeasible. This paper presents new analysis, path planning, and optimization methods to enhance the utility of cuspidal robots. We first demonstrate an efficient method to identify cuspidal robots and show, for the first time, that the ABB GoFa and certain robots with three parallel joint axes are cuspidal. We then propose a new path planning method for cuspidal robots by finding all IK solutions for each point along a task-space path and constructing a graph to connect each vertex corresponding to an IK solution. Graph edges are weighted based on the optimization metric, such as minimizing joint velocity. The optimal feasible path is the shortest path in the graph. This method can find non-singular paths as well as smooth paths which pass through singularities. Finally, this path planning method is incorporated into a path optimization algorithm. Given a fixed workspace toolpath, we optimize the offset of the toolpath in the robot base frame while ensuring continuous joint motion. Congestion is one of the problems in traffic, especially at intersections with traffic lights. In this study, a traffic light management system was developed by utilizing image processing that can adjust the duration in the queue depending on road conditions. The system is developed using Raspberry Pi 4 as the controller. The system will capture the image of the traffic conditions via cameras and then perform the image processing using OpenCV and Tensorflow to calculate the number of vehicles. The number of vehicles will be sent to the webserver database to be processed as the input for traffic system settings. The testing shows that the system can set the timing of the traffic lights. When there are 3 vehicles in the queue with traffic light is red then the system set the timing for the green light to 10 seconds. Additional of 1 vehicle in the queue will increase the duration of the green light by 4 seconds. © 2023 IEEE.
