In this article, a complete 3-D integrated sensing system intended for practical applications was presented on a printed circuit board (PCB) board, starting with lead-free piezoelectric films deposited using an RF sputtering system, an MEMS structure design/simulation, device fabrication, and a signal processing chip design, including charge- to-voltage transformation, signal amplification, 60-Hz noise rejection, and low-power RF wireless transmission chip for remote monitoring. Both the signal processing chips and the RF wireless transmitter chips were manufactured using the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) CMOS process. The piezoelectric coefficient d33 was measured as 27.21 pm/V of the proposed ZnO:Li doped Mg (MLZO) films. To meet the frequency specifications of industrial applications, the ring-structure devices with a 7730-Hz resonance frequency were designed using ANSYS simulation software. There was only a 0.39% deviation compared to the simulation results with the actual experimental data. The measurement results of the proposed system showed that the acceleration detection range was approximately 137 mV/ g (p-p). The voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) adopted in the wireless transmitter chip had a four-leaf clover structure inductor with two symmetrical axes resulting in better suppression of magnetic field radiation. Finally, this system was applied to industrial spindles, and the normal and abnormal operation information of spindles was successfully and wirelessly monitored. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Many economically essential crops in Indonesia (such as coffee, tea, chocolate, or copra) require storage or drying under certain environmental conditions, especially temperature and humidity. The solar dryer dome, typically used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia, produces a sufficient amount of heat to increase the evaporation rate inside the dome and reduce the moisture content of the commodity. A hybrid solar dryer accompanied by a photovoltaic panel, fan, and ventilation system is generally suitable. The system can provide an optimum environment with minimum control. However, as the outdoor temperature and humidity change dramatically, such as at night time, more control is required. Based on Industry 4.0 technologies, we have developed a new kind of hybrid solar dryer that provides an optimum environment 24/7. The system, called Smart Dome 4.0, is an intelligent, low-cost, self-sufficient drying and storage system to support Indonesia Agriculture 4.0. The system has a local power generation unit to self-sustain the required energy and operate without connecting to the electricity grid. The system utilizes a machine-learning algorithm to predict the environmental condition and optimally uses self-generated electric power. The developed Smart Dome 4.0 technology is critical to producing a sustainable solar dome under drastic environmental dynamics. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Essential components of early fire warning systems include effective fire and smoke detection mechanisms. Despite object detection-based technologies demonstrating promising results, the unique characteristics of fire and smoke, the complexity of fire environments, the scarcity of labeled datasets, and the presence of noise in images necessitate further improvements. We have developed a YOLOv7-tiny optimized architecture called the Dynamic Fire and Smoke Detection Module (DFDM) to address these challenges. Our approach includes an asymptotic feature pyramid network (AFPN) to bridge semantic gaps, thus enhancing fire detection capabilities in complex environments. A cross-level dual attention mechanism also refines critical smoke and fire detection features. To enhance performance while reducing model complexity, we introduced a novel partial convolution module designed to filter out extraneous information effectively. Experimental results demonstrate that DFDM provides robust fire and smoke detection capabilities, giving it a competitive advantage over more complex systems. Extensive visualization studies confirm DFDM's effectiveness in object recognition across varied settings. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A General Framework for Clustering and Distribution Matching with Bandit Feedback

We develop a general framework for clustering and distribution matching problems with bandit feedback. We consider a K-armed bandit model where some subset of K arms is partitioned into M groups. Within each group, the random variable associated to each arm follows the same distribution on a finite alphabet. At each time step, the decision maker pulls an arm and observes its outcome from the random variable associated to that arm. Subsequent arm pulls depend on the history of arm pulls and their outcomes. The decision maker has no knowledge of the distributions of the arms or the underlying partitions. The task is to devise an online algorithm to learn the underlying partition of arms with the least number of arm pulls on average and with an error probability not exceeding a pre-determined value δ. Several existing problems fall under our general framework, including finding M pairs of arms, odd arm identification, and N-ary clustering of K arms belong to our general framework. We derive a non-asymptotic lower bound on the average number of arm pulls for any online algorithm with an error probability not exceeding δ. Furthermore, we develop a computationally-efficient online algorithm based on the Track-and-Stop method and Frank–Wolfe algorithm, and show that the average number of arm pulls of our algorithm asymptotically matches that of the lower bound. Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) Services have significant potential in digital content creation. The distinctive abilities of AIGC, such as content generation based on minimal input, hold huge potential, especially when integrating with semantic communication (SemCom). In this paper, a novel comprehensive conceptual model for the integration of AIGC and SemCom is developed. Particularly, a content generation level is introduced on top of the semantic level that provides a clear outline of how AIGC and SemCom interact with each other to produce meaningful and effective content. Moreover, a novel framework that employs AIGC technology is proposed as an encoder and decoder for semantic information, considering the joint optimization of semantic extraction and evaluation metrics tailored to AIGC services. The framework can adapt to different types of content generated, the required quality and the semantic information utilized. By employing a Deep Q Network (DQN), a case study is presented that provides useful insights into the feasibility of the optimization problem and its convergence characteristics. © 2023, CC BY.

Real-time Vehicle Detection and Tracking on Fisheye Traffic Monitoring Video in Compressed Domain

Our goal is to develop real-time vehicle detection and tracking schemes for fisheye traffic monitoring video using the temporal information in the compressed domain without decoding the entire video. Two algorithms are proposed. The first algorithm starts with a conventional single-frame detector, but we introduce a multi-frame information fusion stage to improve the final detection and tracking accuracy, which is implemented using multi-modal bi-directional LSTM (MM bi-LSTM) network. The second algorithm first constructs multi-frame motion trail image, and then a single-image multi-head detector is designed to produce bounding boxes of an individual frame. The first scheme can be viewed as a detect-to-track design, and the second scheme is track-to-detect. We tested our proposals on the ICIP2020 VIP Cup dataset in H.265 video format. The aforementioned algorithms are applied to the motion fields and residual images in the H.265 compressed data set. It turns out that their detection and tracking performances are on par with their pixel-domain counterparts, and they can achieve the state-of-the-art accuracy of conventional video object detectors and trackers. If the decoding process for video compression is not counted, their computational complexities are much lower than the conventional pixel-domain video object detectors and trackers. © 2023 S. In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company’s business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal.
