Early recognition of clinical deterioration (CD) has vital importance in patients' survival from exacerbation or death. Electronic health records (EHRs) data have been widely employed in Early Warning Scores (EWS) to measure CD risk in hospitalized patients. Recently, EHRs data have been utilized in Machine Learning (ML) models to predict mortality and CD. The ML models have shown superior performance in CD prediction compared to EWS. Since EHRs data are structured and tabular, conventional ML models are generally applied to them, and less effort is put into evaluating the artificial neural network's performance on EHRs data. Thus, in this article, an extremely boosted neural network (XBNet) is used to predict CD, and its performance is compared to eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and random forest (RF) models. For this purpose, 103,105 samples from thirteen Brazilian hospitals are used to generate the models. Moreover, the principal component analysis (PCA) is employed to verify whether it can improve the adopted models' performance. The performance of ML models and Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), an EWS candidate, are evaluated in CD prediction regarding the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and geometric mean (G-mean) metrics in a 10-fold cross-validation approach. Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned.

The manufacturing process of all-solid-state batteries necessitates the use of polymer ***,these binders,being ionic insulators by nature,can adversely affect charge transport within composite cathodes,thereby impacting the rate performance of the *** this work,we aim to investigate the impact of fabrication methods,specifically the solvent-free dry process versus the slurry-cast wet process,on binder distribution and charge transport in composite cathodes of solid-state *** the dry process,the binder forms a fibrous network,while the wet process results in binder coverage on the surface of cathode active *** difference in microstructure leads to a notable 20-fold increase in ionic conductivity in the dry-processed ***,the cells processed via the dry method exhibit higher capacity retention of 89％and 83％at C/3 and C/2 rates,respectively,in comparison to 68％and 58％for the wet-processed cells at the same *** findings provide valuable insights into the influence of fabrication methods on binder distribution and charge transport,contributing to a better understanding of the binder's role in manufacturing of all-solid-state batteries.

This paper presents state of the art methods for addressing three important challenges in automated fake news detection: fake news detection, domain identification, and bot identification in tweets. The proposed solutions achieved first place in a recent international competition on fake news. For fake news detection, we present two models. The winning model in the competition combines similarity between the embedding of each article's title and the embedding of the top five corresponding google search results. The new model relies on advances in Natural Language Understanding (NLU) end to end deep learning models to identify stylistic differences between legitimate and fake news articles. This second model was developed after the competition and outperforms the winning approach. For news domain detection, the winning model is a hybrid approach composed of named entity features concatenated with semantic embeddings derived from end to end models. For twitter bot detection, we propose to use the following features: duration between account creation and tweet date, presence of a tweet's link, presence of user's location, other tweet's features, and the tweets' metadata. Experiments include insights into the importance of the different features and the results indicate the superior performances of all proposed models. © 2020 IEEE.

Dear Editor,Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDHc) is a large multienzyme assembly(Mr = 4–10 million Daltons) consisting of three essential components: pyruvate dehydrogenase(E1p), dihydrolipoyl transacetylase(E2p), and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase(E3). These three enzymes perform distinct functions sequentially to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate with formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH) and acetyl-coenzyme A(Patel and Roche, 1990).

Developing positron emission tomography (PET) systems with high channel number has driven the need for application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) owing to their compactness, multi-channel readout capability, and excellent time and energy resolution performance. They can also be quite flexible by employing field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) in the readout circuit. In particular, the ASIC+FPGA approach provides a high performance and compact solution for TOF-PET applications. ASICs serve functions of extracting time and energy information from analog SiPM signals, and an FPGA is employed for other application-specific requirements like on-board chip configuration, communication with data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and system monitoring. Based on this foundation, we developed TOF-capable detector modules for our second generation RF-penetrable PET insert. During our previous experiments, we found that different trigger and readout methods lead to different noise pattern and intensity in MR environment, and also have different singles count loss ratio. This paper aims to study and compare different readout configurations for our MR-compatible detectors. We studied four trigger and readout methods: hit-standard, frequent-standard, hit-bypass, and frequent-bypass, and compared their singles count loss ratios with both theoretical models and experimental results. For all four methods, the theoretical results matched the experimental results well. The two methods which used bypass mode performed better than those using the standard mode approach. With the most optimized trigger and readout method (hit-bypass), we achieved 1.2% singles count loss ratio at a 20 kcps count rate per channel.

ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), a subtype of acute coronary syndrome, is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Revascularization using primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is the gold standard treatment. Despite the restoration of myocardial blood flow, some patients experience adverse outcomes. Early detection of high-risk patients would facilitate timely management, potentially improving their morbidity, mortality, and quality of life. In-depth characterization of the aortic pressure (AP) waveform may identify a high-risk patient cohort. We present tree-based classifiers and features extracted from the AP signals to identify patients at risk of adverse outcomes. This is a single-center, retrospective cohort study that included 605 eligible STEMI patients [64.2 ± 13.2 years, 71.4 % (432) males] treated with PPCI. Outcomes, including mortality (within 30-day and 1-year), and in-hospital events such as prolonged in-hospital stay (>4 days) for medical reasons, a new diagnosis of heart failure (HF), diuretic use for more than 24 h, intubation-ventilation or BiPAP use, and inotropic and/or vasopressor use, were recorded. We extracted features mainly from denoised AP signals recorded during PPCI, followed by different feature selection algorithms and classification methods to predict outcomes. Various classifiers such as tree-based classifiers, including random forest (RF), adaptive boosting (AdaBoost), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and CatBoost, were used. Using recursive feature elimination (RFE) as the feature selection method and the CatBoost classifier, we achieved a receiver operating characteristic curve's area under the curve (AUC) of 80 % for all outcomes except for the new diagnosis of HF and diuretic use (>24 h). Allocentric (landmark-centered) and egocentric (eye-centered) visual codes are fundamental for spatial cognition, navigation, and goal-directed movement. Neuroimaging and neurophysiology suggest these codes are initially segregated, but then reintegrated in frontal cortex for movement control. We created and validated a theoretical framework for this process using physiologically constrained inputs and outputs. To implement a general framework, we integrated a convolutional neural network (CNN) of the visual system with a multilayer perceptron (MLP) model of the sensorimotor transformation. The network was trained on a task where a landmark shifted relative to the saccade target. These visual parameters were input to the CNN, the CNN output and initial gaze position to the MLP, and a decoder transformed MLP output into saccade vectors. Decoded saccade output replicated idealized training sets with various allocentric weightings and actual monkey data where the landmark shift had a partial influence (R2 = 0.8). Furthermore, MLP output units accurately simulated prefrontal response field shifts recorded from monkeys during the same paradigm. In summary, our model replicated both the general properties of the visuomotor transformations for gaze and specific experimental results obtained during allocentric-egocentric integration, suggesting it can provide a general framework for understanding these and other complex visuomotor behaviors. © 2022 The Author(s). Atomic defects in solid-state materials are promising candidates for quantum interconnect and networking applications. Recently, a series of atomic defects have been identified in the silicon platform, where scalable device integration can be enabled by mature silicon photonics and electronics technologies. In particular, T centers hold great promise due to their telecom band optical transitions and the doublet ground state electronic spin manifold with long coherence times. However, an open challenge for advancing the T center platform is to enhance its weak and slow zero phonon line emission. In this work, we demonstrate the cavity-enhanced fluorescence emission from a single T center. This is realized by integrating single T centers with a low-loss, small mode-volume silicon photonic crystal cavity, which results in an enhancement of the fluorescence decay rate by a factor of F = 6.89. Efficient photon extraction enables the system to achieve an average photon outcoupling rate of 73.3 kHz at the zero phonon line. The dynamics of the coupled system is well modeled by solving the Lindblad master equation. These results represent a significant step towards building efficient T center spin-photon interfaces for quantum information processing and networking applications. © 2023, CC BY.
