The traditional recovery strategy of wind turbines after frequency regulation generally sets the wind speed unchanged during the frequency recovery period, during which while the wind speed has random volatility and has an impact on the overall wind power. For this reason, a staged frequency recovery strategy for wind turbines adapted to the random change of wind speed is proposed. Specifically, a high level of power support is provided by the wind power at the early stage to inhibit the rapid fall of frequency, and the wind speed is regarded as constant due to the relatively short control time. At the middle stage, wind power carries out continuous frequency support, continuously feeding back random wind speed information and iteratively updating control parameters, and then cooperates with synchronous machine frequency response for smooth action. The last stage is the wind turbine speed recovery phase, divided into several time intervals, and the speed recovery parameters are adjusted to adapt to the random wind speed changes, and weaken the frequency secondary drop caused by the wind power withdrawal. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified in simulation part. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we develop an intelligent channel im-pulse response (CIR) feature prediction algorithm in underwater networks. To this end, we first extract the major features, i.e., CIR values and tap distances, from raw CIR. Then, we implement a feature prediction module by adopting the time-series forecasting learning algorithm. Through the simulation results, we verify the prediction accuracy of the proposed algorithm with the normalized mean square error (NMSE) loss curve. © 2024 IEEE.

The simultaneous withdrawal of multiple WTGs after wind farm participation in frequency regulation will cause a large power plunge, which in turn will cause a serious secondary frequency drop in the system. Moreover, due to the large area of large-scale wind farms, the wind conditions in which each WTG is located vary greatly, and the volatility of wind speed is more complicated, so the timing arrangement of WTG withdrawal becomes more difficult. Aiming at this problem, this research takes the power dips and the output frequency regulation energy into account, at the moment of withdraw of WTG, establishes a wind speed differentiated withdraw control mode for WTG frequency regulation, and based on this, a novel control strategy of wind turbines for their withdraw of frequency regulation is proposed, which staggers the time of speed restoration of the WTG groups at the wind farm level to mitigate the power dips caused by the simultaneous withdraw of multiple WTGs. © 2024 IEEE.

Sensor-generated data is vital to the operation of numerous systems and services in the rapidly growing field of the Internet of Things. Wireless Sensor Networks, as an essential setup for these systems, are frequently deployed in large, diverse, and often harsh environments. However, these networks are highly vulnerable to various faults, potentially leading to improper data transmission, reliability, and financial stability of the systems. To address these challenges, we propose a hybrid model for sensor fault detection that integrates a machine learning classifier with the deep learning (DL) model, specifically VGG-16 and ResNet-50. Synthetic samples are generated using a Conditional Generative Adversarial Network and common sensor faults, such as hardover, drift, spike, erratic, and stuck fault are introduced by leveraging a publicly available temperature sensor dataset. Time-series data is transformed into Gramian Angular Field images, from which deep features are extracted using VGG-16 and ResNet-50. These extracted features are then fused to form a hybrid feature pool. Our framework effectively addresses problems related to data imbalance and enhances accuracy. The proposed model outperforms the individual feature sets, VGG-16 (89.22%) and ResNet-50 (84.21%), achieving notable accuracy of 92.55% with the fused feature set, underscoring its potential for robust sensor fault detection. © 2025 IEEE.

Micro-robotic cell injection is a widely used procedure in cell biology where a small quantity of biological material is inserted into a cell using an automated or semi-automated micro-robotic system. Given its micro-scale nature, cell injection using a semi-automated micro-robotic system requires extremely high precision, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception for maneuvering the micro-pipette. As the cell injection is a laborious work, there is a dire need of rigorous training and a great deal of experience using live specimens and high-end microscopes. To facilitate this training, we have presented a paper in the past about modular virtual reality (VR) with basic simulation modules, here, the present work deals with the modelling of advanced training modules and experimenting of VR simulator. The proposed simulator includes: (i) Advanced training modules to train users on complete injection/suction procedures;(ii) The performance evaluation of the users using three metrics, i.e., (i) time, (ii) trajectory, and (iii) positioning accuracy is also integrated within the simulator;(iii) An experimental set-up has been developed for the face, content, and construct validity of the VR simulator. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed simulator is validated by experts from the relevant domains and can be used for various applications like drug delivery, injection procedures and in-vitro fertilization. The experimental results demonstrated that a Virtual cell injection training simulator is feasible for the training of cell injection procedures and depicted that the injection success rate is 100% after using VR simulator. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Improved MPPT algorithm: Artificial neural network trained by an enhanced Gauss-Newton method

A novel approach defined by the artificial neural network (ANN) model trained by the improved Gauss-Newton in conjunction with a simulated annealing technique is used to control a step-up converter. To elucidate the superiority of this innovative method and to show its high precision and speed in achieving the right value of the Maximum Power Point (MPP), a set of three comparative Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) methods (Perturbation and observation, ANN and ANN associated with perturbation and observation) are exanimated judiciously. The behavior of these methods is observed and tested for a fixed temperature and irradiance. As a result, the proposed approach quickly tracks the right MPP = 18.59 W in just 0.04382 s. On the other hand, the outstanding ability of the suggested method is demonstrated by varying the irradiance values (200 W/m , 300 W/m , 700 W/m , 1000 W/m , 800 W/m and 400 W/m ) and by varying the temperature values (15°C, 35°C, 45°C and 5°C). Therefore, the ANN trained by Gauss-Newton in conjunction with simulated annealing shows a high robustness and achieves the correct value of MPP for each value of irradiance with an efficiency 99.54% and for each value of temperature with an efficiency 99.98%;the three other methods sometimes struggle to achieve the right MPP for certain irradiance values and often remains stuck in its surroundings. © 2023 The Author(s).

We study the impact of forbidding short cycles to the edge density of k-planar graphs;a k-planar graph is one that can be drawn in the plane with at most k crossings per edge. Specifically, we consider three settings, according to which the forbidden substructures are 3-cycles, 4-cycles or both of them (i.e., girth ≥ 5). For all three settings and all k ∈ {1, 2, 3}, we present lower and upper bounds on the maximum number of edges in any k-planar graph on n vertices. Our bounds are of the form c n, for some explicit constant c that depends on k and on the setting. For general k ≥ 4 our bounds are of the form c √ kn, for some explicit constant c. These results are obtained by leveraging different techniques, such as the discharging method, the recently introduced density formula for non-planar graphs, and new upper bounds for the crossing number of 2- and 3-planar graphs in combination with corresponding lower bounds based on the Crossing Lemma. © Michael A.
