This research aims to construct a two-dimensional image to represent an underwater geometry map with a Side Scan Sonar (SSS) mounted on a Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Glider (HAUG). Building the underwater map has two stages of the process. The first stage is preprocessing which includes Time-varying gains (TVG), slant range correction, and ground range correction. The second is HAUG navigation, the movement of HAUG orientation to the angle and distance of SSS readings and plotting the geometry of the grid map. With these two stages, a two-dimensional grid map will be formed. Meanwhile, the 3D plot utilizes slant range and ground range correction to obtain the surface height of the bottom of the pool. From the experiments conducted to conduct mapping in the pool, two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual forms of the pool floor and pool walls were produced. The results of the estimated measurement of the width of the pool obtained 14.05 meters and the height of the pool 3.199 meters with an SSS beam angle of 58 degrees. © 2023 IEEE.

Extracellular vesicles(EVs)have been identified as promising biomarkers for the noninvasive diagnosis of various ***,challenges in separating EVs from soluble proteins have resulted in variable EV recovery rates and low ***,we report a high-yield(>90%)and rapid(<10 min)EV isolation method called FLocculation via Orbital Acoustic Trapping(FLOAT).The FLOAT approach utilizes an acoustofluidic droplet centrifuge to rotate and controllably heat liquid *** adding a thermoresponsive polymer flocculant,nanoparticles as small as 20 nm can be rapidly and selectively concentrated at the center of the *** demonstrate the ability of FLOAT to separate urinary EVs from the highly abundant Tamm-Horsfall protein,addressing a significant obstacle in the development of EV-based liquid *** to its high-yield nature,FLOAT reduces biofluid starting volume requirements by a factor of 100(from 20 mL to 200µL),demonstrating its promising potential in point-of-care diagnostics.

This work aims to advance the design of a microwave device capable of detecting, through indirect measurements, variations in the permittivity of the food materials. To this aim, a novel sensor based on double ridge waveguide configuration and a specific sample holder, to be 3D-printed, are designed. To numerically study the microwave signal propagation in the designed device and investigate its wideband performance, simulations with different food materials are performed. In particular, the complex dielectric permittivity of Carasau bread doughs, a traditional food product from Sardinia (Italy), and different distilled water-based solutions with various percentage of solutes in them, are measured with open-ended coaxial probe in the range 0.5-8.5 GHz and the acquired data are then used as material under test. The results show a good ability of the device to discriminate variations of the percentage of solute in solutions. Differences of up to 60MHz in the position of the |S11| peak and 15.8 dB in amplitude are in fact observed between adjacent curves. However, in the case of Carasau bread dough, this device was not capable of clearly discriminating variations in the percentage of ingredients used. © 2023 IEEE.

A cognitive component of brain activity is attention. The effectiveness of other activities, including the learning process and crucial ones, are greatly impacted. Here, several methods are employed to categorize human attention according to ERP. The Electroencephalography (EEG) signal known as the Event-Related Potential (ERP) P300 is an evoked potential that has been linked to a number of cognitive functions, including response choice and attention. This study utilize the MOABB ERP Dataset bi2013a in this case. This was derived from a study conducted at GIPSA-lab in 2013 by the University of Grenoble Alpes, the CNRS, and Grenoble-INP. With the use of statistical Time domain analysis techniques like means and standard deviation of the filtered EEG data, the P300 ERP may be recovered from the raw EEG signal. Distinct P300 classifiers were utilized in this study, four of which were based on Riemannian geometry: CSP LDA, ERPCov TS LR, ERPCov MDM, as well as LR, LDA, and SVM classifiers. By analysing the data, it is concluded that LR performs better than the competition and generates positive test results on categorising the p300 ERP, which directly indicates the attention of the individual individuals. © 2023 IEEE.

Multinuclear MRI/S offers a powerful tool for noninvasive diagnostics and disease monitoring but remains largely underutilized in part due to the intrinsically low sensitivity of X-nuclei scans. This has led to continued research interest into the optimization of multi-nuclear coil designs for double-and triple-tuned coils that can facilitate scaling into higher channel count arrays to increase sensitivity. Here we present a new design for a parallel trap network that can create a simultaneous triple-tuned coil for 1H, 31P and 23Na at 4.7T. Coils were characterized both on the bench and in the scanner for the relative SNR of the different multi-tuning networks. The parallel network was shown to have a relative SNR gain of over 20% compared to a series network for 1H imaging. X-nuclei had a decrease in SNR of less than 10% for both 31P and 23Na. Future work involves further optimization of inductor design and placement to improve the X-nuclei sensitivity. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper discusses a proposed fiber-optic sensor that was based on the combination of the material called polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The practical experiments were conducted under laboratory conditions with a group of 6 volunteers. The data were compared with conventional electrocardiogram (ECG) and processed using a Bland-Altman method. The results described in this paper show that the 3D printing technique can be used for encapsulating the FBG and for the purpose of biomedical engineering. © 2023 SPIE.

In the current state of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), transmission lines are vital in communicating with the transmitting and receiving networks. However, transmission lines, such as coaxial cables, operating at the radio frequencies (RF) used in MRI can be affected by common mode cable currents. These currents diminish received signals and put the patient at risk of RF burns. A common way to combat this issue is to implement cable traps on the transmission line(s). To effectively suppress cable currents and improve the ease of applying floating cable traps, a variation of a floating cable trap was created. The trap utilizes three LC circuits to provide an attenuation of -24 decibels (dB) at 127 MHz. The trap uses a custom 3D printed former that allows for straightforward construction and application onto a single RG-58 coaxial cable. © 2024 IEEE.
