Finite-Time Distributed Identification for Nonlinear Interconnected Systems

In this paper,a novel finite-time distributed identification method is introduced for nonlinear interconnected systems.A distributed concurrent learning-based discontinuous gradient descent update law is presented to learn uncertain interconnected subsystems’*** concurrent learning approach continually minimizes the identification error for a batch of previously recorded data collected from each subsystem as well as its neighboring *** state information of neighboring interconnected subsystems is acquired through direct *** overall update laws for all subsystems form coupled continuous-time gradient flow dynamics for which finite-time Lyapunov stability analysis is *** a byproduct of this Lyapunov analysis,easy-to-check rank conditions on data stored in the distributed memories of subsystems are obtained,under which finite-time stability of the distributed identifier is *** rank conditions replace the restrictive persistence of excitation(PE)conditions which are hard and even impossible to achieve and verify for interconnected ***,simulation results verify the effectiveness of the presented distributed method in comparison with the other methods.

This paper focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing a distributed multi-soft-processor SoC low-power FPGA-based software-hardware co-design architecture for fast digital image processing computing acceleration. The paper demonstrates an on and off-the-chip augmented hardware architecture implementation to overcome Memory, Cost, Size, and Power prohibitive resource constraints. This implementation experimentally achieves an optimized accelerated digital image processing and digital filtering execution time. The method achieves 80 times computational speedup with the proposed augmented hardware-accelerated optimization scheme compared to an initial practical implementation without hardware acceleration. This design is implemented on an SoC Altera Cyclone- V FPGA. In this design, an FPGA Multi Softcore Processor is instantiated in the fabric and interfaced with an external SDRAM via a 16-bit Memory Controller Intellectual Property (IP) core. An 8-bit intensity resolution image (up to 1280 x 1280 pixels, but not limited) was imported from a PC (via Serial Communication) to the FPGA for Sobel spatial filter processing. Each Soft Core was memory mapped to each image segment to create a parallel multiprocessing architecture. Multiple Sobel Filters are written and synthesized in the fabric. The Register Transfer Logic (RTL) code is written in VHDL and Verilog as a Hardware Description Language (HDL) to accelerate the design implementation. A different number of Softcore Processors in conjuncture with accelerated hardware are tested to compare the resulting computational efficiency. The timings between accessing the on-chip SRAM and the off-chip SDRAM can also be compared. This study proposes an adaptive nonsingular integral dynamic terminal sliding mode tracker/synchronizer for disturbed nonlinear systems along with its usage in safe communication systems. The convergence of the closed-loop structure under unknown uncertainty and disturbances is guaranteed via Lyapunov analysis. Furthermore, a parameter-tuning method is planned to approximate the upper bound of uncertainty and disturbance terms, since this latter is typically unknown in practice. The proposed approach is used to design a digital secure transmission scheme according to the chaotic systems. The effectiveness of the suggested approach is validated using computer simulations on a benchmark example of chaotic system. The obtained outcomes clearly confirm the ability of the planned control approach enables to attain the desired tracking/synchronizing performance despite the disturbances. Additionally, when implemented to the data encryption of a communication system, the proposed control and secure communication techniques enabled the complete and secure retrieval of the original digital sequences. © The Author(s) 2022.

The progression in quantum computing and the rapid development of quantum computation hardware has raised expectations for its application to commercially relevant use cases in the future. However, the need for high-level quantum programming abstractions and targeted use cases paired with vertical applications, which can directly benefit from quantum computing, remains an open challenge. This paper presents our vision for a decentralized architecture for swarm based IoT systems that leverages a high-level continuous development and integration quantum programming suite to support edge processing capabilities for different use cases across the edge-fog-cloud continuum. The planned Quantum DevKit provides the necessary abstractions and low-level backend interfaces for quantum computing infrastructure, enabling edge computation using quantum processing, with extensions to efficient management of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The paper focuses on the presentation of the development kit and its coupling swarm-based architecture that automates the orchestration of the cloud-to-edge continuum, showcasing the potential of quantum technology in edge processing. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. High resolution and high refresh rate increase the pressure of wide transmission. Usually, video compression is used to solve this problem. However, traditional video compression methods cannot be performed in bit-plane, which will increase the cost of storage area. For this reason, this paper first introduces a bit just noticeable difference (BJND) model based on bit-plane. By analyzing the relationship between the bit-plane, frequency and eccentricity, the bit just noticeable difference threshold of viewpoint is calculated. Finally, the just noticeable difference model applied to bit-plane is obtained. Then this paper proposes a video compression scheme based on bit motion estimation algorithm, which optimizes the search range of motion estimation into two small rhombuses of time dimension and gray-scale dimension. According to human visual system and probability statistical analysis, supplementary matching blocks are added to replace residual data, so that the compression ratio will be constant. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme has the best comprehensive effect on the compression of the lower five-bit plane. The compression ratio is 1.385, the data transmission is constant, and there is no obvious difference between the restored image and the original image, which conforms to the intuitive perception of the human eye. © 2023, John Wiley and Sons Inc. In this research paper, the authors propose a unique broad-band circularly polarised antenna design with a sequentially rotated feed network intended for applications in the WiMAX IEEE 802.16, C-band, and ITU-R F386.9 bands. A sequential feeding approach utilising transmission lines with varying impedance properties and lengths has been utilised to properly stimulate the amplitude and phase distribution of each radiation element. To facilitate the rotation of the surface current distribution on the ground plane and further improve impedance matching, four L-shaped slits have been inserted into each corner of the ground plane along with a pair of mirrored slits of identical geometry within the antenna ground plane. The individual antenna element achieves an impedance bandwidth between 5–6.8 GHz and a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth from 5.1–6.6 GHz. To additionally advance the radiation performance, the elements are configured into a 2 × 2 antenna and are interconnected utilising a sequentially rotated feeding network to attain broader axial ratio and impedance bandwidths. A key benefit of the implemented feed network is the minimisation of coupling effects between elements. To significantly increase the performance metrics of the antenna with limited increase to its physical size, electromagnetic band gap structures were incorporated as a one-dimensional lattice between the radiating elements. For the resulting antenna, an axial ratio bandwidth from 4.19 to 6.8 GHz (48%) and an impedance bandwidth spanning 2.9 to 9.8 GHz (102%) are achieved. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of the Random Forest algorithm in detecting intrusions within IoT environments through features selection analysis. We utilize the Network Intrusion Detection dataset, which simulates various intrusions in a military network environment, to train and test our model. The Random Forest classifier is adopted due to its robustness, scalability, and ability to handle complex data structures. Our results demonstrate that the model achieves high accuracy and efficiency in identifying both known and unknown attacks in IoT traffic. This study provides practical insights into deploying machine learning models for securing IoT infrastructures and highlights the challenges and opportunities in this domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Vortex beams offer significant potential for various applications in fields such as communication, quantum computing, and particle manipulation. Typically, these beams are generated by using laser light that passes through a passive phase modulation component. In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on miniaturizing and integrating the vortex beam light source, aimed at expanding the range of applications. Our study contributes to this goal by presenting a novel method for directly generating vector vortex beams from photonic crystal surface emitting lasers while preserving C6 rotation symmetry. Our approach achieves topological charges of both +1 and −2, and we demonstrate the ability to dynamically switch between these orders by adjusting the injection conditions. © 2023 The Authors. Accurate modeling of power systems is crucial for various control center applications. One of the key components in a power system model is the transmission lines. The line model includes parameters such as series impedance and shunt admittance, which are typically assumed to be time-invariant. However, these parameters vary based on the ambient and operating conditions of the system. Therefore, it is essential for the different monitoring and protection applications of the power system to have an accurate visualization of the line parameter variance throughout the day. In this context, this paper develops a hybrid line parameter estimation scheme that makes use of the available Phasor Measurement Unit (PMUs) measurements and Neural Network (NN) estimations to calculate the series line parameters of the transmission lines. The developed scheme was tested in the IEEE 14-bus system under realistic ambient and operating conditions, showcasing its practical applicability and enhanced accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.
