Partitioning-based total filtering is a way to lower speckle noise in synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) pics. This technique uses a brand-new mass-spring analogy to partition a photograph into present-day homogenous areas. A hard and fast state-of-the-art policy is then hooked up to pick out the speckle-loose pixels' present-day place and build a statistical model of today's speckle-free pixels from them. This statistical version is applied to the alternative pixels within every region to generate a speckle-decreased picture. This approach ends in an improved noise reduction effect compared to SAR denoising strategies while keeping the edge features inside the picture. Additionally, it requires no prior information approximately the speckles and, therefore, can be used for any SAR image without tuning the parameters. As a result, this technique can boost the denoising procedure and convey proper consequences with much less computational complexity. © 2024 IEEE.

A staircase-shaped printed monopole antenna (SPMA) with a partial ground structure for wireless applications is proposed. The performance parameters of the designed antenna have been evaluated by integrating a novel structure of frequency selective surface (FSS) with the antenna. A Polyimide dielectric material has been utilized for designing both the antenna and the FSS reflector. The proposed SPMA integrated with designed FSS reflector operates at dual bands from 2.18 to 2.83 GHz and 4.42 to 5.58 GHz with fractional impedance bandwidth of 25.94% and 23.2%, respectively. A single-layered FSS reflector with a 5×5 array size is employed to obtain optimum performance. The suggested combined structure of the FSS reflector integrated staircase antenna achieves an attractive peak gain of 7.87 dBi and radiation efficiency of 98.8%. The design methodology for the antenna and unit cell design of the required FSS, analysis of field and current distributions, fabricated prototyped models of antenna and FSS along with measured results are included and discussed in this article. The proposed antenna is suitable for modern wireless communication (WLAN/Wi-Fi etc.) applications at 2.4/5.2 GHz. © 2023, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

Chemical processes involve complex coupling risks. This work established the risk correlation network of the hydrogenation process. The risk early warning indicators of the hydrogenation process were analyzed and screened from the aspects of early warning ability and sensitivity. A total of 19 risk indicators were analyzed. The results show that the risk indicators with strong early warning ability include the failure to control the temperature and temperature rise of the reaction system according to the process technical indicators, the failure to control the pressure and pressure rise speed of the reaction system according to the process technical indicators, the failure to control the purity of circulating hydrogen, and the failure to pay attention to the operation of the hot oil pump and light hydrocarbon pump. Among all factors, abnormal temperature change, abnormal pressure change, leakage, and corrosion have a relatively high correlation with other factors. This work proposed an effective method to evaluate the warning indicators against risk with complex networks. © 2023 IEEE.

A multi-objective optimization method for exploring uncharted space is presented in the study. Robotics exploration personnel create a map of the immediate area using sensor data. It has been observed that a single optimization technique is typically used with a specific objective function to carry out the optimization for space exploration. The optimization process can be sped up and simplified using a mono-objective function, but the map accuracy and exploration depth suffer. This work offers an optimization technique with improved multi-objective functions in recognition of this crucial factor. This not only speeds up the search procedure but also improves the precision of the maps. The Reconfigured Whale Algorithm (rWO), the suggested framework, is based on a Whale Optimizer inspired by whales’ biological behavior. Initializing the whale population, also known as waypoints, is the first step. After being established in the initial stage/iterations, these waypoints are considered constant. The location update from the robot-catered non-dominated waypoints is the next phase. The algorithm optimizes the waypoints. Extensive simulations that simulate various scenarios and environments are used to assess the performance matrices properly. Following the identification of the algorithm’s advantages, the effectiveness of the outcomes is demonstrated by contrasting its performance with that of three popular optimization algorithms: the hybrid CME-Whale Optimizer (WO), the Coordinated Multi-Robot Exploration (CME), and the Arithmetic Optimizer (AO) integrated with CME. Findings show that the suggested approach significantly improves the optimization process by expanding the area that is investigated and speeding up the search process. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

In this work, a broadband single pole triple throw (SP3T) switch that operates between a frequency range of 0.02 - 6 GHz is reconfigured by means of wireless power transfer (WPT) through an energy harvesting (EH) circuit. The WPT is achieved by designing three rectennas working at 2.3 GHz, 2.45 GHz, and 2.6 GHz. Each rectenna consists of a low-power RF rectifier circuit associated with a distinct antenna element and a commercially available e-peas AEM30940 power management unit (PMU) that is able to provide an output of 1.8 V - 4.1 V with cold start-up from 380 mV and 3 μW input power. The PMU also consists of a storage capacitor where the energy from the low power received signal is stored. The three input pins of the SP3T switch require a driving voltage of 1.8 V to actuate its RF port. This voltage is provided by the designed rectennas through the PMU, and we can actuate the switch with a very low power (3 μW) received signal. The rectennas are designed to provide the 380 mV between -12 dBm to -10 dBm received power with a conversion efficiency of approx. 40 %for each rectenna. The proposed method to wirelessly enable the SP3T switch with a low-power RF signal can provide a breakthrough to reconfigure microwave devices and antennas for a broad range of applications, and also paves the way not only for the generation of clean energy, but also for its use as an alternative to batteries. © 2022 European Microwave Association (EuMA).

A novel dual-core dual-mode class-F voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with wide frequency tuning range (TR) is proposed in this letter. It consists of two coupled parallel "8"-shaped inductor and two crossed-coupled VCO cores. To increase the TR of the proposed VCO without adding additional footprint size, a single-turn common-mode inductor is embedded inside the "8"-shaped inductor. By controlling the mode switches, the inductor can work in different modes with large inductance difference, realizing large VCO TR consequently. Then, the two coupled inductors were engineered to form the fundamental and third harmonic resonances, respectively, thereby producing a pseudo-square wave output waveform and realizing class-F operation. With the proposed configuration, the phase noise (PN) of the proposed VCO can be significantly reduced without increasing VCO core size. To demonstrate the proposed idea, a VCO prototype is fabricated in a 65-nm CMOS process with a core size of 1.235×0.8mm. It achieves a wide frequency TR from 2.84 to 7.04 GHz. The measured PN at 1-MHz offset is from -123.9 to -113.1 dBc/Hz, demonstrating an FOMT of 196.0-201.3 dBc/Hz. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, there has been an upsurge in artificial intelligence (AI) systems. These systems, along with efficient performance and predictability, also need to incorporate the power of explainability and interpretability. This can significantly aid clinical decision support by providing explainable predictions to assist clinicians. Explainability generally involves uncovering key input features important for classification. However, characterizing the uncertainty underlying the decisions of the AI system is an important aspect needed for interpreting the decisions. This is especially important in clinical decision support systems, given considerations of medical ethics such as nonmaleficence and beneficence. In this study, we develop methods for characterizing the decision certainty of machine learning (ML)-based clinical decision support systems. As an illustrative example, we introduce a framework for ML-based posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnostic classification that classifies the subjects into pure and mixed classes. Accordingly, a clinician can have very high confidence (95% probability) about the diagnosis of a subject in a pure PTSD or combat control class. RBC (Radio Block center) is the key equipment for CTCS-3 Train Control System to control the safe operation of the train. It is responsible for communication with on-board equipment and providing movement authorization for the train, so as to realize the operation control of the train. Whether RBCs can generate the correct MA (Movement Authority) is the key to ensure that trains can operate safely. Based on the technical specification of infinite block center and the theory of timed automata, this paper models, simulates and verifies the process of RBC Movement Authority generation. The validation results indicate that the MA model established in this paper meets the functional requirements and safety requirements of the technical specifications and provides a theoretical reference for further improving the design and development of RBC systems. © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach.

The early detection of brain tumor is crucial for effective treatment and improved patient prognosis in Industrial Information Systems. This research introduces a novel computational model employing a three-layer Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for the identification of brain tumors in Industrial Information Systems. Leveraging advanced computational techniques, this proposed model can autonomously detect intricate patterns and features from medical imaging data, resulting in more accurate and expedited diagnoses. With an impressive 90 % precision rate, our model demonstrates the potential to serve as a valuable tool for medical professionals working in the field of neuroimaging. By presenting a dependable and precise computational model, this study contributes to the advancement of brain tumor identification within the domain of medical imaging. We anticipate that our methodology will aid healthcare providers in making more accurate diagnoses, thereby leading to enhanced patient outcomes. Potential avenues for future research encompass refining the model's fundamental architecture and exploring real-time therapeutic applications. © 2024 The Authors
