Current research on robust trajectory planning for autonomous agents aims to mitigate uncertainties arising from disturbances and modeling errors while ensuring guaranteed safety. Existing methods primarily utilize stochastic optimal control techniques with chance constraints to maintain a minimum distance among agents with a guaranteed probability. However, these approaches face challenges, such as the use of simplifying assumptions that result in linear system models or Gaussian disturbances, which limit their practicality in complex realistic scenarios. To address these limitations, this work introduces a novel probabilistically robust distributed controller enabling autonomous agents to plan safe trajectories, even under non-Gaussian uncertainty and nonlinear systems. Leveraging exact uncertainty propagation techniques based on mixed-trigonometric-polynomial moment propagation, this method transforms non-Gaussian chance constraints into deterministic ones, seamlessly integrating them into a distributed model predictive control framework solvable with standard optimization tools. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of this technique, highlighting its ability to consistently handle various types of uncertainty, ensuring robust and accurate path planning in complex scenarios.

This article presents design techniques for an energy-efficient multi-lane receiver (RX) with baud-rate clock and data recovery (CDR), which is essential for high-throughput low-latency communication in high-performance computing systems. The proposed low-power global clock distribution not only significantly reduces power consumption across multi-lane RXs but is capable of compensating for the frequency offset without any phase interpolators (PIs). To this end, a fractional divider (FDIV) controlled by CDR is placed close to the global phase locked loop. Moreover, in order to address the suboptimal lock point of conventional baud-rate phase detectors, the proposed CDR employs a background eye-climbing algorithm (ECA), which optimizes the sampling phase and maximizes the vertical eye margin (VEM). Fabricated in a 28 nm CMOS process, the proposed 43.32Gb/s RX shows a low integrated fractional spur of -40.4 dBc at a 2500 ppm frequency offset. Furthermore, it improves bit-error-rate (BER) performance by increasing the VEM by 26 mV. The entire RX achieves the energy efficiency of 1.8 pJ/bit with the aggregate data rate of 128 Gb/s. © 1966-2012 IEEE.

Smart cities require better cellular communication, incorporating a high data rate that satisfies the Internet, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) requirements. A high data rate demands higher bandwidth with low latency. However, the already saturated or underutilized frequency spectrum hinders this realization. 5G and cognitive radio technology can enhance spectrum utilization to meet the high data demands of future cellular communication. Cognitive radio uses spectrum sensing to identify underutilized frequencies without interfering with licensed users, addressing the scarcity of the electromagnetic spectrum. In this paper, a cognitive radio receiver design with a SAR analog-to-digital converter, which is recognized for having a modest resolution for high bandwidth signals, is implemented. Moreover, the pipeline technique in the SAR design is proposed to increase the resolution to be suitable for 5G applications. The high-level model of the system is simulated using MATLAB Simulink software. The quantization error observed in the regular SAR ADC design is compared to that in the proposed pipeline SAR ADC, highlighting the enhanced accuracy and efficiency of the pipeline SAR ADC, which makes it suitable for spectrum sensing in next-generation cognitive radio systems.

W-type barium-nickel ferrite(BaNi_(2)Fe_(16)O_(27))is a highly promising material for electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption be-cause of its magnetic loss capability for EMW,low cost,large-scale production potential,high-temperature resistance,and excellent chemical ***,the poor dielectric loss of magnetic ferrites hampers their utilization,hindering enhancement in their EMW-absorption *** efficient strategies that improve the EMW-absorption performance of ferrite is highly desired but re-mains ***,an efficient strategy substituting Ba^(2+)with rare earth La^(3+)in W-type ferrite was proposed for the preparation of novel La-substituted ferrites(Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)).The influences of La^(3+)substitution on ferrites’EMW-absorption performance and the dissipative mechanism toward EMW were systematically explored and ***^(3+)efficiently induced lattice defects,enhanced defect-induced polarization,and slightly reduced the ferrites’bandgap,enhancing the dielectric properties of the ***^(3+)also enhanced the ferromagnetic resonance loss and strengthened magnetic *** effects considerably improved the EMW-absorption perform-ance of Ba_(1-x)LaxNi_(2)Fe_(15.4)O_(27)compared with pure W-type *** x=0.2,the best EMW-absorption performance was achieved with a minimum reflection loss of-55.6 dB and effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 3.44 GHz.

Route reservations have been proposed as an effective solution to mitigate traffic congestion while preserving the road network in free-flow traffic conditions, offering users some limited departure time and route choices. However, high user compliance is required. To provide users with the freedom to choose among any spatiotemporal route in the road network, in this work we propose a dynamic pricing route reservations architecture. At each time step, the central controller sets prices dynamically, using the network's reservations status and the users' demand characteristics. Rational users will ultimately choose the route that minimizes their disutility by considering routes' travel time, schedule delays, and reservation price. A series of microscopic simulations reveal that the proposed approach demonstrates a similar traffic performance as other optimal route reservation approaches. It however outperforms them in terms of social welfare, user satisfaction and flexibility, providing users with numerous spatiotemporal free-flow route choices, while minimizing aggregated disutility.

This paper aims to contribute to overcoming the barriers that are hindering the adoption of energy efficiency measures in SMEs sector, particularly addressing informational and organizational issues, by presenting a methodology for assessment of the targeted energy saving potential in a SME that has been developed and validated in the framework of H2020 SMEmPower Efficiency project, based on a Monitoring & Targeting (M&T) tool. As a case study, the method was applied in a SME activating in the manufacturing of knitted and crocheted fabrics sector in Romania. After the company's energy profile was created, the M&T simulation generated a series of energy saving and CO2 emission reduction targets, based on which a set of specific energy efficiency (technical and organisational) measures tailored to the company's needs were proposed and assessed from both technical and financial perspectives. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. The world’s population in urban areas has been increasing rapidly during the last few decades and is expected to continue to grow over the near future. With this major population increase, traffic congestion is expected to worsen significantly in urban areas, and creative solutions will be required for addressing this problem, which has a considerable environmental, economic, and societal impact on the urban population. Urban air mobility could be such an innovative solution. This work introduces urban air mobility trajectory planning, where classical receding horizon optimizations are extended to satisfy on-demand planning of safe trajectories for the aerial vehicles in large and dense environments. Specifically, for reducing the overall problem complexity, a new parameter, i.e., the safety horizon, is introduced and, to model accurately aerial vehicle location uncertainty, a mixed integer quadratic optimization problem is proposed. Extensive simulations are performed to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework for on-demand mobility planning in urban environments.

We present M3ED, the first multi-sensor event camera dataset focused on high-speed dynamic motions in robotics applications. M3ED provides high-quality synchronized and labeled data from multiple platforms, including ground vehicles, legged robots, and aerial robots, operating in challenging conditions such as driving along off-road trails, navigating through dense forests, and performing aggressive flight maneuvers. Our dataset also covers demanding operational scenarios for event cameras, such as scenes with high egomotion and multiple independently moving objects. The sensor suite used to collect M3ED includes high-resolution stereo event cameras (1280×720), grayscale imagers, an RGB imager, a high-quality IMU, a 64-beam LiDAR, and RTK localization. This dataset aims to accelerate the development of event-based algorithms and methods for edge cases encountered by autonomous systems in dynamic environments. © 2023 IEEE.

This work proposes a novel formulation for the joint route guidance and demand management problem, taking into account the uncertainty in traffic demand. Recognizing the implications of this uncertainty, this work proposes a stochastic model predictive control framework, characterized by non-convex nonlinear constraints. To address the stochastic nature of the problem, a scenario-based formulation is introduced, which uses a Gaussian Processes framework to generate multiple scenarios. In addition, an efficient solution methodology over the scenario-based formulation is proposed that relaxes the original nonlinear problem into a linear problem where a quadratic procedure is introduce to ensure feasibility over the original problem domain. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scenario-based methodology over the worst-case and basic average-centric strategies.
