A joint research project 'real-time lightning 3D imaging and forecasting project for sustainable and reliable supply of energy and storm disaster early warning' has been selected for Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) program. Held in the coastal area of the Straits of Malacca in Malaysia, which suffers from serious lightning disasters with more than 200 lightning days per year, this research aims to contribute to disaster prevention by forecasting lightning strikes by constructing the world's highest lightning observation network. This research project is to conduct the field campaigns associated with artificial rocket-triggered lightning in the coastal area of the Straits of Malacca, where the thunderstorm activity is very high and there are many positive cloud-to-ground flashes that may damage electric, communication and other equipments. Measurements of radio waves in various frequency bands and high-energy radiations, and several Rogowski coils are set up surrounding the strike points. It is planned to realize an electromagnetic field observation network in VHF and LF bands to observe the entire progression of each lightning in detail in a wide area. 3D charge distribution in the thundercloud and the amounts of neutralized charges estimated from the information where the lightning discharge begins, how it progresses, and where it terminates. Then, it is examined by the lightning current waveform measured directly with the high structure and rocket-triggered lightning. By comprehensively grasping the charge behavior in the air related to lightning discharge, it is possible to estimate the charge distribution in the cloud and to predict lightning strike. In a fully immersive virtual reality setting, visitors will actively participate in our demonstration, engaging in an interactive videogame utilizing our cutting-edge HD-sEMG Bracelet. Prior to this, they will undergo state-of-the-art training to personalize their machine learning gesture recognition model. The gameplay will be broadcast on a computer monitor, allowing onlookers to observe while the demonstrator explains the core concept of our work. By wearing the bracelet, the player gains control over their limb in a game inspired by Simon Says. Throughout the demonstration, visitors will gain firsthand experience and knowledge about the forthcoming advantages of HD-sEMG for control applications, such as prosthesis control. We study the J1−J2 spin-1/2 chain using a path integral constructed over matrix product states (MPS). By virtue of its nontrivial entanglement structure, the MPS ansatz captures the key phases of the model even at a semiclassical, saddle-point level, and, as a variational state, is in good agreement with the field theory obtained by Abelian bosonization. Going beyond the semiclassical level, we show that the MPS ansatz facilitates a physically motivated derivation of the field theory of the critical phase: By carefully taking the continuum limit—a generalization of the Haldane map—we recover from the MPS path integral a field theory with the correct topological term and emergent SO(4) symmetry, constructively linking the microscopic states and topological field-theoretic structures. Moreover, the dimerization transition is particularly clear in the MPS formulation—an explicit dimerization potential becomes relevant, gapping out the magnetic fluctuations.

A novel reflectarray antenna design enabled by stereolithography operating at Ku-band is presented. The demon-strated fully metallised 3-D unit cells feature multiple-layer cuboid elements attached to a ground plane through metallic vias. By varying the number of layers, the sizes of the elements of each layer, and the diameter of the vias, the required phase response is achieved, along with low reflection losses. Another benefit of the variable layer design is the engineered phase response over the frequency range of 14 to 17 GHz, which can lead to broad bandwidth reflectarray designs. At 15 GHz, simulations in CST Microwave Studio demonstrate that the reflectarray antenna achieves a directivity of approximately 33 dBi.
