This paper presents a comprehensive investigation of traffic radar coverage efficiency under different placement strategies in collaboration with Zhejiang Communications Investment Group Company Limited (CICO). The overall goal is to maximise coverage while minimising blind spots and the number of radars, given the constraints of the road. The NSGA-II multi-objective optimisation algorithm is found to be capable of generating a set of optimal solutions for the proposed radar placement configurations. When aiming for 100% coverage, the results indicate that a multi-antenna radar configuration requires the lowest radar density. Overall, this study provides valuable insights to transportation infrastructure owners in determining the best radar placement strategies for road traffic monitoring. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

This paper presents a novel chaotic pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) architecture that integrates the XoShiRo128++ algorithm with a chaotic logistic map, combined with an XOR operation using a Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR). The hybrid PRNG harnesses the high statistical quality of XoShiRo128++ and the sensitivity of chaotic systems to initial conditions, producing robust and unpredictable sequences. This generator is applied to image encryption using the XOR operation, and its performance and security are thoroughly evaluated. The hardware implementation is carried out on a Zybo Z7 board from the Zynq-7000 family, a resource-constrained FPGA platform. The performance analysis encompasses FPGA resource utilization, timing efficiency, and image-based metrics such as entropy and pixel correlation. The results demonstrate that the proposed chaotic PRNG provides a secure and efficient encryption system, making it highly suitable for resource-limited environments and promising for lightweight cryptographic applications.

Home hand rehabilitation for stroke is becoming increasingly important due to logistic and financial challenges. Developing Daily-life Integrated Hand-rehabilitation Products (DIHP) aims to enable the application of at-home rehabilitation. The materials of these products are essential for their success, however, selecting materials for DIHP has not been investigated yet. Previous research on material selection showed that it is done strictly on material properties or based on a human-centered approach. Hence, in this study, we propose a hybrid model for choosing materials for DIHP. To achieve this, we first combined the findings of previous material selection processes into a comprehensive material selection model. We applied this model in a case study, in which we first selected three materials based on their properties. Following, we 3d printed a DIHP out of the chosen materials and tested the feeling of the materials with multiple expert groups. Our findings suggest that the proposed material selection method is promising and highlights that our comprehensive model provides more insights when compared to a strict material property-based selection. © The Author(s), 2023. Evolution of agents’ dynamics of multiagent systems under consensus protocol in the face of jamming attacks is discussed, where centralized parties are able to influence the control signals of the agents. In this paper we focus on a game-theoretical approach of multiagent systems where the players have incomplete information on their opponents’ strength. We consider repeated games with both simultaneous and sequential player actions where players update their beliefs of each other over time. The effect of the players’ optimal strategies according to Bayesian Nash Equilibrium and Perfect Bayesian Equilibrium on agents’ consensus is examined. It is shown that an attacker with incomplete knowledge may fail to prevent consensus despite having sufficient resources to do so.

Optimization is a key technique for maximizing or minimizing functions and achieving optimal cost,gains,energy,mass,and so *** order to solve optimization problems,metaheuristic algorithms are *** of these techniques are influenced by collective knowledge and natural *** is no such thing as the best or worst algorithm;instead,there are more effective algorithms for certain ***,in this paper,a new improved variant of a recently proposed metaphorless Runge-Kutta Optimization(RKO)algorithm,called Improved Runge-Kutta Optimization(IRKO)algorithm,is suggested for solving optimization *** IRKO is formulated using the basic RKO and local escaping operator to enhance the diversification and intensification capability of the basic RKO *** performance of the proposed IRKO algorithm is validated on 23 standard benchmark functions and three engineering constrained optimization *** outcomes of IRKO are compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms,including the basic RKO *** to other algorithms,the recommended IRKO algorithm is superior in discovering the optimal results for all selected optimization *** runtime of IRKO is less than 0.5 s for most of the 23 benchmark problems and stands first for most of the selected problems,including real-world optimization problems.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of computer models and methods that dynamically evolve and therefore allow tracing certain patterns in their development. The considered examples of evolution testify to the objective processes of their integration into the natural world by structuring for its parallelism and fuzziness. These beacons determine the vector of resilient development, which is shown for the model of number, arithmetic operations, calculation results, on-line testing of digital circuits, safety-related systems and their problems from the standpoint of a resource-based approach. The mechanism of development of computer models by diversifying their concepts is shown. An example of the development of a circuit solution in its on-line testing based on the diversification of the values of the calculated results is given. Comparison of the obtained solutions, analyzed within the framework of the model of exact and approximate data, is carried out. © 2021 IEEE.

In the ever-evolving realm of network security, the swift and accurate identification of diverse attack classes within network traffic is of paramount importance. This paper introduces “ByteStack-ID,” a pioneering approach tailored for packet-level intrusion detection. At its core, ByteStack-ID leverages grayscale images generated from the frequency distributions of payload data, a groundbreaking technique that greatly enhances the model's ability to discern intricate data patterns. Notably, our approach is exclusively grounded in packet-level information, a departure from conventional Network Intrusion Detection systems (NIDS) that predominantly rely on flow-based data. While building upon the fundamental concept of stacking methodology, ByteStack-ID diverges from traditional stacking approaches. It seamlessly integrates additional meta learner layers into the concatenated base learners, creating a highly optimized, unified model. Empirical results unequivocally confirm the outstanding effectiveness of the ByteStack-ID framework, consistently outperforming baseline models and state-of-the-art approaches across pivotal performance metrics, including precision, recall, and F1-score. Impressively, our proposed approach achieves an exceptional 81% macro F1-score in multiclass classification tasks. In a landscape marked by the continuous evolution of network threats, ByteStack-ID emerges as a robust and versatile security solution, relying solely on packet-level information extracted from network traffic data.

In this paper, the performance of circularly polarized (CP) adaptive sub-arrays integrated into 5G laptop device is investigated in the presence of a whole-body human phantom model. In addition, the radiation effect of the steered beam patterns has been analyzed by calculating the specific absorption rate distribution and temperature rise. In this target, a single-feed CP antenna element has been firstly designed to resonate at 28GHz with high realized gain and radiation efficiency. Then, 4 subarrays have been constructed in a rectangular configuration with four-elements for each sub-array. To let the study more realistic, a complete human model is considered to investigate the radiation effects. The measured reflection coefficient and realized gain results of the designed antenna element are found to be -30 dB and 7.82 dB, respectively, in the assigned frequency band. Likewise, the antennas sub-arrays have approximately kept the same impedance matching attitude with high insertion loss of -22 dB and a realized gain and radiation efficiency of 16.85 dB and 86%, respectively, on average. Furthermore, the sub-arrays scan patterns and coverage efficiency have been studied considering the existence of the human body in different scenarios. Regarding the RF exposure, the results show that the resultant maximum values of specific absorption rate and power density do not exceed 1.52 W/kg and 3.5W/m2, respectively, whereas the maximum exposure temperature in such a case is less than 2.8°C after 30 minutes and decreases to 0.5°C after a penetration depth of 3mm which reflects the possibility of safe use. © 2021, Electromagnetics Academy. Surface electromyography (sEMG) signals hold significant potential for gesture recognition and robust prosthetic hand development. However, sEMG signals are affected by various physiological and dynamic factors, including forearm orientation, electrode displacement, and limb position. Most existing sEMG datasets lack these dynamic considerations. This study introduces a novel multichannel sEMG dataset to evaluate commonly used hand gestures across three distinct forearm orientations. The dataset was collected from nineteen able-bodied subjects performing twelve hand gestures in three forearm orientations-supination, rest, and pronation. Eight MFI EMG electrodes were strategically placed at the elbow and mid-forearm to record high-quality EMG signals. Signal quality was validated through Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Signal-to-Motion artifact Ratio (SMR) metrics. Hand gesture classification performance across forearm orientations was evaluated using machine learning classifiers, including LDA, SVM, and KNN, alongside five feature extraction methods: TDD, TSD, FTDD, AR-RMS, and SNTDF. Furthermore, deep learning models such as 1D CNN, RNN, LSTM, and hybrid architectures were employed for a comprehensive analysis. Notably, the LDA classifier achieved the highest F1 score of 88.58% with the SNTDF feature set when trained on hand gesture data of resting and tested across gesture data of all orientations. The promising results from extensive analyses underscore the proposed dataset's potential as a benchmark for advancing gesture recognition technologies, clinical sEMG research, and human-computer interaction applications. The next generation of wireless networks will utilize highly directional beams to overcome the path loss at high frequencies, requiring angle inference during link establishment. Furthermore, the integration of location-based services into the wireless infrastructure is rapidly increasing, bringing in a significant demand for an integrated fast localization scheme. In this work, we present a first-of-its-kind one-shot angular localization method that is carried out with a re-configurable architecture that unlocks ISAC functionality. Specifically, we use an electrically tunable metasurface with broadband response to generate wavefronts that are randomized across the angular space with diverse wideband amplitude and phase observations, corresponding to a collection of angle-unique one-shot beacons. Our results show down to 0.26° mean absolute error at 20 dB SNR, an order of magnitude improvement over the recently proposed one-shot solutions based on leaky-wave antennas (LWAs), in addition to having wider area coverage and less stringent bandwidth requirements. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).
