The advent of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) represents a compelling response to the International Mobile Telecommunications 2030 (IMT-2030) framework, enabling the delivery of advanced, seamless connectivity that supports reliable, sustainable, and resilient communication systems. Nevertheless, the integration of NTN with Terrestrial Networks (TN) necessitates considerable alterations to the existing cellular infrastructure in order to address the challenges intrinsic to NTN implementation. Additionally, Ambient Backscatter Communication (AmBC), which utilizes ambient Radio Frequency (RF) signals to transmit data to the intended recipient by altering and reflecting these signals, exhibits considerable potential for the effective integration of NTN and TN. Furthermore, AmBC is constrained by its limitations regarding power, interference, and other related factors. In contrast, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within wireless networks demonstrates significant potential for predictive analytics through the use of extensive datasets. AI techniques enable the real-time optimization of network parameters, mitigating interference and power limitations in AmBC. These predictive models also enhance the adaptive integration of NTN and TN, driving significant improvements in network reliability and Energy Efficiency (EE). In this paper, we present a comprehensive examination of how the commixture of AI, AmBC, and NTN can facilitate the integration of NTN and TN. We also provide a thorough analysis indicating a marked enhancement in EE predicated on this triadic relationship. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a control scheme that prevents the adverse dynamic interactions between the heterogeneously controlled grid-forming inverters (GFMI) in power electronics dominated grid (PEDG) towards a resilient self-driving grid. The primary controller of GFMIs in a grid cluster can vary based on their manufacturers such as virtual synchronous generation, droop control, power synchronization control, etc. Therefore, this can introduce heterogeneity among the network of GFMIs in PEDG. Resultantly, during the interconnection of GFMIs that are based on heterogenous primary controller poses various synchronization and dynamic interaction challenges in PEDG. For instance, severe fluctuations in frequency and voltage, high ROCOF, unintended reactive power circulation that poses a threat on the overall transient stability of the PEDG. Therefore, to mitigate these adverse dynamic interactions among the heterogeneously controlled GFMIs, a force enclaved homogenization (FEH) control is proposed in a supervisory level controller. This will autonomously adjust inertia coefficients of the each GFMI to have homogenous transient response and will enforce coherency among the heterogenous DGs. This will prevent the PEDG from the adverse dynamic interactions during an interconnection and load disturbance. Various case studies are presented that validates the effectiveness of the proposed FEH control.

The problem of the estimation of the information rate-distortion-perception function (RDPF), which is a relevant information-theoretic quantity in goal-oriented lossy compression and semantic information reconstruction, is investigated here. Specifically, we study the RDPF tradeoff for Gaussian sources subject to a mean-squared error (MSE) distortion and a perception measure that belongs to the family of α-divergences. Assuming a jointly Gaussian RDPF, which forms a convex optimization problem, we characterize an upper bound for which we find a parametric solution. We show that evaluating the optimal parameters of this parametric solution is equivalent to finding the roots of a reduced exponential polynomial of degree α. Additionally, we determine which disjoint sets contain each root, which enables us to evaluate them numerically using the well-known bisection method. Finally, we validate our analytical findings with numerical results and establish connections with existing results.

Data security and privacy in the energy sector and especially in buildings' energy management, is an emerging issue which cannot be underestimated, thus, calls for solid and robust solutions. The reliable functioning of energy management data platforms is essential for the efficient operation and performance of buildings, as well as the well-being of occupants. The fast-paced digital advances have aided this direction, but they have also created increased challenges for operation disruption mitigation and immutable services and outcomes. Data obtained from energy management systems frequently comprises highly sensitive and personal information. Consequently, access to such data, whether for reading purposes or for conducting experiments and research, must be strictly restricted and clearly defined. Through security frameworks data protection and information privacy, mitigation of risks and vulnerabilities can be ensured. In this paper, an end-to-end Security Framework is proposed for securing sensitive resources in energy management systems using Keycloak, OAuth2 and UMA 2 protocols as well as an extra security layer on top of the Keycloak, so as to enhance the overall security and avoid immediate interaction with Keycloak, which is the main user storage and access management component. The main concept of this framework is the controlled access of sensitive data and services, such as datasets, databases, functionalities, URLs, APIs, etc., leveraging the OAuth2 access tokens capabilities and the roles of the users. Our proposed architecture ensures that all the functionalities of the involved tools and protocols are properly secured end-to-end. The several existing functionalities of a number of tools and related protocols are properly leveraged and further extended, resulting to a fine-grained architecture with an extra security layer that offers administrative, security and identity access management and orchestration.

In part II, an op-amp-based drive is proposed and designed. Subsequently, a very accurate model for the drive circuit and the current loop is developed as a simulation platform, while its simplified version is derived, tailored for efficient design purposes. Through a comprehensive evaluation, the accuracy and efficacy of both the actuator and drive circuit modeling is scrutinized, showcasing their superiorities over existing approaches. The importance of eddy current modeling is underscored. Also, the effectiveness of the designed current loop and its practical trade-offs are engineered and discussed. Then, three DSP-based position control techniques are implemented: pole placement with voltage drive, pole placement with current drive, and nonlinear control with feed linearization. Both full-order and reduced-order observers are leveraged to estimate the unmeasured states. The performance of control designs across various applications are evaluated through indices such as rise time, overshoot, steady-state error, and large-signal tracking in the step response as well as bandwidth, robustness, phase margin, sensitivity, disturbance rejection, and noise rejection in the frequency domain. The distinctive features of implemented control strategy are compared, offering a nuanced discussion of their respective advantages and drawbacks, shedding light on their potential applications. Machine learning-based intrusion detection systems (IDS) have attracted considerable attention for their role in proactively identifying intrusion attempts and facilitating swift organizational response. While numerous researchers have conceptually discussed the potential negative impacts of high false alarms in machine learning-based IDS on organizations and have proposed various methods to reduce them, there is a shortage of studies that explore how these false alarms can exacerbate cyberattack damage in different organizational settings and in the face of various cyberattack campaigns. This paper introduces an agent-based modeling and simulation approach to assess false alarm consequences in machine learning-based IDS during dual Denial of Service (DoS) and phishing attacks. The IDS with distinct false positive rates, constructed using the KDD Cup 1999 dataset with diverse machine learning algorithms, were simulated to analyze how these varying false alarm rates affect the extent of damage caused by phishing and DoS attacks.

We study a principal component analysis problem under the spiked Wishart model in which the structure in the signal is captured by a class of union-of-subspace models. This general class includes vanilla sparse PCA as well as its variants with graph sparsity. With the goal of studying these problems under a unified statistical and computational lens, we establish fundamental limits that depend on the geometry of the problem instance, and show that a natural projected power method exhibits local convergence to the statistically near-optimal neighborhood of the solution. We complement these results with end-to-end analyses of two important special cases given by path and tree sparsity in a general basis, showing initialization methods and matching evidence of computational hardness. Overall, our results indicate that several of the phenomena observed for vanilla sparse PCA extend in a natural fashion to its structured counterparts. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Therefore, a more flexible and intelligent system is expected, for the consumption 15 of highly penetrated renewables. 16In this context, flexible resources, no matter from the source side, the grid side, or the demand side, 17 are significantly desired. and proposed a consensus control-based distributed power tracking system for power grid simulation. 37Furtherly assisted by the communication network, the computational efficiency was accelerated, in 38 addition to the privacy protection of the regulation resources. 39 to system-level, whose achievements have the potential to inspire the realization of a low carbon 49 network. However, there are still many challenges and opportunities related to the flexible regulation 50 in the green future, and more theories and technologies need to be further investigated.
