Thermal Dynamic Embedded Contingency Analysis for Heat-electrical Integrated Energy System

To address security challenges in Heat-electrical Integrated Energy systems (HE-IES), this paper introduces a simulation-based contingency analysis method aimed at identifying potentially threatening faults. We begin by modeling common faults in HE-IES and outlining a comprehensive procedure for simulation-based contingency analysis. Next, we analyze the factors determining temperature drop in the heat medium transfer process and propose a novel analytical-numerical method for thermal dynamic simulation. Real-world experimental results demonstrate that, compared to existing methods, the proposed approach stands out in eliminating numerical dispersion and reducing simulation time by 81.7% while maintaining accuracy, making it particularly effective for HE-IES contingency analysis where solution efficiency is crucial. Subsequently, the proposed contingency analysis method is applied to a 49-node testbed to explore fault propagation mechanism across subsystems. The result reveals that faults originating from the power system and combined heat and power units can cause cascading effects, leading to severe impacts on power supply and heating temperatures. In contrast, faults from the heating system tend to propagate in a less complicated manner but pose a greater risk to the hydraulic system. To mitigate fault propagation, we recommend enhanced monitoring of the operational status of coupling equipment, which plays a critical role in ensuring HE-IES security. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Classifying the visual features in images to retrieve a specific image is a significant problem within the computer vision field especially when dealing with historical faded colored ***,there were lots of efforts trying to automate the classification operation and retrieve similar images *** reach this goal,we developed a VGG19 deep convolutional neural network to extract the visual features from the images ***,the distances among the extracted features vectors are measured and a similarity score is generated using a Siamese deep neural *** Siamese model built and trained at first from scratch but,it didn’t generated high evaluation ***,we re-built it from VGG19 pre-trained deep learning model to generate higher evaluation ***,three different distance metrics combined with the Sigmoid activation function are experimented looking for the most accurate method formeasuring the similarities among the retrieved *** that the highest evaluation parameters generated using the Cosine distance ***,the Graphics Processing Unit(GPU)utilized to run the code instead of running it on the Central Processing Unit(CPU).This step optimized the execution further since it expedited both the training and the retrieval time *** extensive experimentation,we reached satisfactory solution recording 0.98 and 0.99 F-score for the classification and for the retrieval,respectively.

Data analytics have had a significant impact on tactical and workload planning in football. Football data is divided into two categories: event data, which captures on-the-ball events like passes and shots, and tracking data, which captures off-the-ball movements. However, traditional methods of collecting tracking data are expensive and inconvenient. Recently, AI solutions have emerged as low-cost and user-friendly alternatives to track players' movements from video streams. This paper introduces FOOTBALLTrace, an end-to-end AI system for tracking multiple football players from a panoramic game view. The system also incorporates a novel algorithm that detects potential occlusion events and ensures trajectory continuity for occluded players. The workflow involves five stages: panoramic view creation, player detection, player ID association, occlusion detection, and trajectory correction. The system utilizes YOLOv7 for multiple object detection and employs a pre-trained deep affinity network to assign unique IDs to players throughout the game. Occlusion detection and trajectory correction are achieved by extracting geometric features from discontinuous player trajectories. The system's performance was evaluated on full-length video data of a football game, with occlusion events manually extracted for training and testing the occlusion detection and trajectory correction algorithm. The coexistence of coherent perfect absorber and laser or amplifier (CPAL) point is a peculiar spectral singularity associated with the scattering matrices of non-Hermitian systems. While the potential of CPAL systems for sensing application has been highlighted recently, the extreme sensitivity of parity-time (PT)-symmetric CPAL devices to the input signal deviations has so far impeded their practical utilization. Here we explore a strategy for implementing CPAL circuits by exploiting another type of non-Hermitian symmetry, namely anti-PT (APT) symmetry. We demonstrate that the condition for building CPAL in our proposed APT-symmetric electronic circuits additionally requires parity symmetry, which simplifies the circuit design and implementation. Additionally, we show that this newly proposed structure is 1.85 times more robust compared to previous CPAL devices studied in the literature.

Vascular aging encompasses structural and functional changes in blood vessels associated with aging, including increased stiffness, reduced elasticity, and atherosclerosis development. These changes contribute to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), a global health challenge necessitating precise assessment methods. Evaluating vascular age involves comparing blood vessel health to chronological age, offering insights into arterial stiffness for potential cardiovascular disease prevention. In this study, we introduce an approach using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models for vascular age prediction. Leveraging simulated Photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveforms from the radial artery and a diverse sample of healthy adults aged 25 to 75, our method offers a non-invasive, cost-effective means of health evaluation. Following 5-fold cross-validation, the LSTM-based model demonstrated significant performance, with an average test accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 Score of approximately 97%. This innovative approach, with its non-invasive nature, minimal power consumption, and user-friendly interface, showcases the potential of PPG technology's integration into various devices, such as fitness trackers, smartphones, and tablets, ensuring its widespread accessibility and applicability in real-world health assessments. Accurate vascular age prediction aids in identifying cardiovascular aging deviations and underlying disorders, advancing assessment methods and contributing to proactive cardiovascular health management. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a new approach for change point detection in multivariate Hawkes processes using Fréchet statistic of a network. The method splits the point process into overlapping windows, estimates kernel matrices in each window, and reconstructs the signed Laplacians by treating the kernel matrices as the adjacency matrices of the causal network. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method through experiments on both simulated and cryptocurrency datasets. Our results show that our method is capable of accurately detecting and characterizing changes in the causal structure of multivariate Hawkes processes, and may have potential applications in fields such as finance and neuroscience. The proposed method is an extension of previous work on Fréchet statistics in point process settings and represents an important contribution to the field of change point detection in multivariate point processes. © 2024 IEEE.

Open communication system in modern power systems brings concern about information staleness which may cause power system frequency *** information staleness is often characterized by communication ***,communication delay is a packet-centered metric and cannot reflect the requirement of information freshness for load frequency control(LFC).This paper introduces the age of information(AoI),which is more compre-hensive and informative than the conventional communication delay modeling *** LFC controller and com-munication are integrated into the design for LFC performance *** AoI-aware LFC model is formulated first,and considering each allowable update period of the smart sensor,different AoI-aware PI controllers are then designed according to the exponential decay *** right AoI-aware controller and update period are selected according to the degree of frequency fluctuation of the power *** studies are carried out on one-area and two-area power *** results show the superior performance of the AoI-aware controllers in comparison to the delay-dependent controllers.

Disentangled learning representations have promising utility in many applications, but they currently suffer from serious reliability issues. We present Gaussian Channel Autoencoder (GCAE), a method which achieves reliable disentanglement via flexible density estimation of the latent space. GCAE avoids the curse of dimensionality of density estimation by disentangling subsets of its latent space with the Dual Total Correlation (DTC) metric, thereby representing its high-dimensional latent joint distribution as a collection of many low-dimensional conditional distributions. In our experiments, GCAE achieves highly competitive and reliable disentanglement scores compared with state-of-the-art baselines. © 2023 11th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2023. Classical optimization and learning-based methods are the two reigning paradigms in deformable image registration. While optimization-based methods boast generalizability across modalities and robust performance, learning-based methods promise peak performance, incorporating weak supervision and amortized optimization. However, the exact conditions for either paradigm to perform well over the other are shrouded and not explicitly outlined in the existing literature. In this paper, we make an explicit correspondence between the mutual information of the distribution of per-pixel intensity and labels, and the performance of classical registration methods. This strong correlation hints to the fact that architectural designs in learning-based methods is unlikely to affect this correlation, and therefore, the performance of learning-based methods. This hypothesis is thoroughly validated with state-of-the-art classical and learning-based methods. However, learning-based methods with weak supervision can perform high-fidelity intensity and label registration, which is not possible with classical methods. Next, we show that this high-fidelity feature learning does not translate to invariance to domain shift, and learning-based methods are sensitive to such changes in the data distribution. We reassess and recalibrate performance expectations from classical and DLIR methods under access to label supervision, training time, and its generalization capabilities under minor domain shifts. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation.
