Depth First:Optimal Path Discovery Between Designated Nodes in Random Ring-Based Graphs

This paper focuses on optimally determining the existence of connected paths between some given nodes in random ring-based *** as a fundamental underlying structure in network modeling,ring topology appears as commonplace in many realistic *** this,we consider graphs composed of rings,with some possible connected paths between *** prior knowledge of the exact node permutations on rings,the existence of each edge can be unraveled through edge testing at a unit cost in one *** problem examined is that of determining whether the given nodes are connected by a path or separated by a cut,with the minimum expected costs *** the problem into different cases based on different topologies of the ring-based networks,we propose the corresponding policies that aim to quickly seek the paths between nodes.A common feature shared by all those policies is that we stick to going in the same direction during edge searching,with edge testing in each step only involving the test between the source and the node that has been tested *** simple searching rule,interestingly,can be interpreted as a delightful property stemming from the neat structure of ring-based networks,which makes the searching process not rely on any sophisticated *** prove the optimality of the proposed policies by calculating the expected cost incurred and making a comparison with the other class of *** effectiveness of the proposed policies is also verified through extensive simulations,from which we even disclose three extra intriguing findings:i)in a onering network,the cost will grow drastically with the number of designated nodes when the number is small and will grow slightly when that number is large;ii)in ring-based network,Depth First is optimal in detecting the connectivity between designated nodes;iii)the problem of multi-ring networks shares large similarity with that of two-ring networks,and a larger number of ties between ri

The growing sophistication of cyberthreats,among others the Distributed Denial of Service attacks,has exposed limitations in traditional rule-based Security Information and Event Management *** machine learning–based intrusion detection systems can capture complex network behaviours,their“black-box”nature often limits trust and actionable insight for security *** study introduces a novel approach that integrates Explainable Artificial Intelligence—xAI—with the Random Forest classifier to derive human-interpretable rules,thereby enhancing the detection of Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)*** proposed framework combines traditional static rule formulation with advanced xAI techniques—SHapley Additive exPlanations and Scoped Rules-to extract decision criteria from a fully trained *** methodology was validated on two benchmark datasets,CICIDS2017 and *** rules were evaluated against conventional Security Information and Event Management systems rules with metrics such as precision,recall,accuracy,balanced accuracy,and Matthews Correlation *** results demonstrate that xAI-derived rules consistently outperform traditional static ***,the most refined xAI-generated rule achieved near-perfect performance with significantly improved detection of DDoS traffic while maintaining high accuracy in classifying benign traffic across both datasets.

Fault diagnosis of rotating machinery driven by induction motors has received increasing attention. Current diagnostic methods, which can be performed on existing inverters or current transformers of three-phase induction machines, have become a more economical and reliable alternative to vibration diagnostic methods. Existing references mainly focus on the stator current analysis of single-phase, but most single-phase current analysis methods utilize only a fraction of the total information accessible in the three-phase system. Field experience shows that zero-sequence current (ZSC) has more distinctive fault characteristics compared to single-phase current, and therefore it is better to use in mechanical fault detection and diagnostic tasks. This article proposes a novel sparse learning-based method for ZSC analysis for induction rotating motor drive fault diagnosis. First, it elaborates and compares the effectiveness of ZSC in revealing fault characteristics compared with single-phase current by analyzing the fault diagnosis mechanism of ZSC. In addition, the method proposes a correlation entropy-enhanced sparse learning method for the problem of high-frequency noise and interference in the ZSC signals, so as to enhance the learning of the features of the noise-containing signals. The diagnostic efficacy of the proposed method has been verified through experiments on two real datasets. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

This work demonstrates four grid service use cases using a service-oriented DER Management System within an Energy Grid of Things network. Imposed by a set of rules referred to as the Energy Service Interface, the DER Management System uses IEEE 2030.5 as its primary communication protocol. To simulate the efforts of Grid Operators, Grid Service Providers, and consumers to provide grid services, a co-simulation environment that leverages the GridAPPS-D simulation platform was developed. The results show that a service-oriented DER Management System provides a means of achieving reliable and impactful grid services while protecting customers' privacy and ensuring their agency over their Distributed Energy Resources. © 2025 IEEE.

Predicting the value of one or more variables using the values of other variables is a very important process in the various engineering experiments that include large data that are difficult to obtain using different measurement *** is one of the most important types of supervised machine learning,in which labeled data is used to build a prediction model,regression can be classified into three different categories:linear,polynomial,and *** this research paper,different methods will be implemented to solve the linear regression problem,where there is a linear relationship between the target and the predicted *** methods for linear regression will be analyzed using the calculated Mean Square Error(MSE)between the target values and the predicted outputs.A huge set of regression samples will be used to construct the training dataset with selected sizes.A detailed comparison will be performed between three methods,including least-square fit;Feed-Forward Artificial Neural Network(FFANN),and Cascade Feed-Forward Artificial Neural Network(CFFANN),and recommendations will be *** proposed method has been tested in this research on random data samples,and the results were compared with the results of the most common method,which is the linear multiple regression *** should be noted here that the procedures for building and testing the neural network will remain constant even if another sample of data is used.

Support Vector Machines (SVMs) is one of the most popular machine learning algorithms as it provides high-performance and needs minimal tuning. It can be used for classification, regression and other learning tasks. Its design makes the training of large datasets time-consuming, so it is important that solutions are developed that attempt to tackle this problem. One such solution is presented in this paper. Based on the LIBSVM library, one of the most popular and widely used implementations of SVMs, we developed the design that can be executed on an heterogeneous computing system, consisting of an FPGA accelerator card, along with *** first step of the process is to determine the most computationally intensive and parallelizable part of the algorithm. That is found to be a matrix row computation, involving inner products and a mathematical function (one of exp, pow, tanh) for each of the elements. Then, we develop a kernel, that can fully utilize the abilities of the FPGA accelerator card, regarding data processing and computations. In our case that is the Alveo U200 Data Center accelerator card. The results show that the proposed implementation achieves up to 14x speedup in the row computation part of the algorithm compared to a multi-threaded CPU execution on a Ryzen3 2200G, a CPU with a base clock speed of 3.5 GHz. © 2022 IEEE.

The GridSweep device is an actively probing wave-form measurement unit developed by McEachern Laboratories in conjunction with Lawrence Livermore National Lab and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. The active probing of the device combined with high sensitivity, and GPS time synchronization allow coordinated measurements of distribution system frequency response and other grid characteristics from common electrical outlets. This paper presents an initial review of the signal processing techniques applied to the collected data, a summary of interesting results from several different processing modalities including the active signal response, machine learning techniques, and ambient signal correlation. The early results indicate the measurements from the GridSweep device have potential for use to detect local grid properties like system impedance, and characteristics and identification of distributed energy resources connected on the system. © 2025 IEEE.

Index modulation-Aided orthogonal frequency division multiple access (IM-OFDMA) is envisioned as an advanced solution for the upcoming wireless communication systems. This paper proposes a highly efficient scheme by combining multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and IM-OFDMA to leverage both techniques collectively, offering a new possibility to boost spectrum efficiency compared with the IM-OFDMA and MIMO-OFDMA schemes. The basic principle of the resulting MIMO-IM-OFDMA scheme is to independently perform the IMOFDMA process on each transmit antenna, thereby achieving higher diversity. Considering different system configurations, Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate that the MIMO-IMOFDMA scheme not only enhances the communication error's performance but also improves the spectral efficiency compared to the conventional IM-OFDMA and MIMO-OFDMA schemes. © 2024 IEEE.
