LiDAR technology has become a vital tool for researching these atmospheric components because of its capacity to measure backscattered signals and investigate the atmosphere at extremely high spatial and temporal resolution. However, machine learning has become a potent technique for sophisticated data processing and analysis because of the complexity and diversity of lidar technology. The aim of this research is to propose a novel technique in cloud IoT network-based LiDAR sensor imaging with image optimization using a metaheuristic deep learning model. Input has been collected LiDAR image using a cloud IoT module and processed for noise removal and normalization. Then this processed image is classified and optimized utilizing a quantile transfer graph convolutional model with binary firefly whale colony optimization. The experimental analysis is carried out in terms of detection accuracy, random precision, recall, RMSE, and AUC for various LiDAR sensor-based datasets. Comparing the results of the various approaches reveals that the suggested approach outperforms them all with a recall of 94%, a random precision of 95%, and a detection accuracy of 98%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) is an innovative and transformative technology to improve wireless network capacity by adjusting the 3D positions and rotations of antennas/antenna surfaces based on the channel spatial distribution. To achieve optimal antenna positions and rotations, acquiring statistical channel state information (CSI) is essential for 6DMA systems. However, existing works assume that a central processing unit (CPU) jointly processes the signals of all 6DMA surfaces. This incurs prohibitively high processing cost and latency for channel estimation due to the vast numbers of 6DMA candidate positions/rotations and antenna elements. Therefore, we propose a distributed 6DMA processing architecture to reduce the processing complexity of the CPU by equipping each 6DMA surface with a local processing unit (LPU). Furthermore, we unveil for the first time the directional sparsity property of the 6DMA channels with respect to distributed users, where each user has significant channel gains only for a (small) subset of 6DMA position-rotation pairs. Based on this property, we propose a practical three-stage protocol for the 6DMA system and corresponding algorithms to conduct statistical CSI acquisition for all 6DMA candidate positions/rotations, 6DMA position/rotation optimization based on statistical CSI, and instantaneous CSI estimation for user data transmission with optimized 6DMA positions/rotations. Simulation results show that the proposed channel estimation algorithms achieve higher accuracy than benchmark schemes, while requiring lower pilot overhead. Moreover, the proposed 6DMA system with statistical CSI-based position/rotation optimization achieves a higher ergodic sum rate than fixed-position and fluid antenna systems, even if the latter have perfect instantaneous CSI. © 2025 IEEE.

In this letter, we propose a six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA)-aided cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system to fully exploit its macro spatial diversity, where a set of distributed access points (APs), each equipped with multiple 6DMA surfaces, cooperatively serve all users in a given area. Connected to a central processing unit (CPU) via fronthaul links, 6DMA-APs can optimize their combining vectors for decoding the users' information based on either local channel state information (CSI) or global CSI shared among them. We aim to maximize the average achievable sum-rate via jointly optimizing the rotation angles of all 6DMA surfaces at all APs, based on the users' spatial distribution. Since the formulated problem is non-convex and highly non-linear, we propose a Bayesian optimization-based algorithm to solve it efficiently. Simulation results show that, by enhancing signal power and mitigating interference through reduced channel cross-correlation among users, 6DMA-APs with optimized rotations can significantly improve the average sum-rate, as compared to the conventional cell-free network with fixed-position antennas and that with only a single centralized AP with optimally rotated 6DMAs, especially when the user distribution is more spatially diverse. © 2012 IEEE.

Water scarcity in arid regions necessitates innovative solutions to uncover and manage subsurface water resources for environmental health. This study explores the potential of GeoHydroNet, a specialized deep learning framework, in identifying hidden water resources within arid regions. Utilizing remote sensing data such as multispectral and hyperspectral imagery, geological maps, and soil moisture datasets, GeoHydroNet combines graph neural Networks (GNNs), AutoEncoders, and generative adversarial networks (GANs) to address challenges in subsurface hydrology. The model achieved an accuracy of 93.5%, surpassing traditional models like CNNs (85.4%), LSTMs (88.1%), and RNNs (82.6%). GeoHydroNet demonstrates significant precision (0.88), recall (0.87), and sensitivity to data imbalance (0.91). Its physics-informed learning approach incorporates hydrological principles, ensuring realistic predictions. By analyzing subsurface water patterns, recharge zones, and geological influences, the model not only enhances prediction accuracy but also aids in sustainable groundwater management. GeoHydroNet’s performance in identifying groundwater levels, with minimal errors ranging from 0.62 to 3.07%, indicates its robustness in tackling water scarcity challenges in data-constrained environments. These findings highlight its transformative role in hydrological modeling and sustainable water resource management in arid regions. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This paper presents a novel method that combines cloud computing infrastructure and Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms to improve public safety lighting in smart cities. By dynamically adjusting lighting levels in response to real-time sensor inputs, the proposed system aims to maximize visibility while minimizing energy consumption. The cloud-based framework's RL agents continuously interact with the environment and human activity patterns to learn the best lighting policies. The system utilizes data from multiple sensors, including ambient light and motion detectors, to adjust real-time to daylight levels, weather, and pedestrian traffic variations. By integrating RL, the lighting system can adapt to changing urban dynamics and safety requirements over time, all while reducing energy waste. Compared to conventional static lighting systems, case studies and simulations show how the system can significantly improve visibility and response times while enhancing safety in various urban settings. RL algorithms can be easily deployed and managed throughout extensive smart city networks due to cloud computing network scalability and adaptability. This study advances sustainable urban infrastructure by showcasing the effectiveness of RL-based artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in public safety lighting optimization, thereby laying the groundwork for future smarter and safer cities. © 2025 IEEE.

Autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) have gained considerable attention as a platform for establishing aerial wireless networks and communications. However, the Line of Sight (LoS) dominance in air-to-ground (A2G) communications often leads to significant interference with terrestrial networks, reducing communication efficiency among terrestrial terminals. This article explores a novel uplink interference mitigation approach based on the collaborative beamforming (CB) method in multi-AAV network systems. Specifically, the AAV swarm forms an AAV-enabled virtual antenna array (VAA) to achieve the transmissions of gathered data to multiple base stations (BSs) for data backup and distributed processing. However, there is a tradeoff tradeoff between the effectiveness of CB-based interference mitigation and the energy conservation of AAVs. Thus, by optimizing the excitation current weights and hover position of AAVs as well as the sequence of data transmission to various BSs, we formulate an uplink interference mitigation multiobjective optimization problem (MOOP) to decrease interference affection, enhance transmission efficiency, and improve energy efficiency, simultaneously. In response to the computational demands of the formulated problem, we introduce an evolutionary computation method, namely chaotic nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (CNSGA-II) with multiple improved operators. The proposed CNSGA-II efficiently addresses the formulated MOOP, outperforming several other comparative algorithms, as evidenced by the outcomes of the simulations. Moreover, the proposed CB-based uplink interference mitigation approach can significantly reduce the interference caused by AAVs to nonreceiving BSs. © 2014 IEEE.

The advancement of intelligent connected vehicles and aerial computing has garnered extensive attention from scholars worldwide. In particular, high-altitude platforms (HAPs) and autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) have emerged as effective tools to extend vehicular network coverage and enhance real-time monitoring capabilities. This study, grounded in the data from the Yizhuang Intelligent Connected Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone, introduces an air-ground integrated vehicular network model for abnormal driving behavior detection using D-S evidence theory. The model integrates aerial computing and vehicular networks in a cohesive manner, scrutinizes the data associated with routine driving behaviors, and integrates the outcomes of various analyses through evidence theory at the decision-making level, culminating in the estimation of the probability of abnormal driving behaviors. Simulation experiments results demonstrate that this algorithm not only enhances the precision of abnormal behavior identification to a remarkable 97.1% but also significantly accelerates the detection process and improves the robustness. © 2014 IEEE.

Agriculture faces many challenges of precision farming, such as the need for sustainable practices, improving yields, ensuring high yields. In resolution to these challenges, the present research provides an AI-based system that enables the use of deep learning, Global Positioning System (GPS), and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies to create a highly intelligent smart agricultural precision farming system. Its goal is to monitoring crop health and reduce disease risk, which will lead to improved resource utilization and environmentally sustainability techniques. The proposed framework addresses the urgent need for consistency in agricultural practices, especially as global agriculture deals with pressures from climate change, resource shortages, and increasing demand for food. Traditional agricultural methods for predicting and optimizing crop yields due to increasing factors affecting crop performance Not enough generative AI, especially the use of deep learning models, supports agricultural research in many cases, allowing patterns to be identified and future results to be predicted accurately. The integration of GPS and GIS allows for more accurate mapping, real-time analysis, and effective decision-making. Weather forecasting variability, resource constraints, and demand for more food are isolated from environmental influences using deep learning models, especially Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). By using large data sets, including historical crop yield performance, soil properties, and weather conditions, the system provides highly accurate crop forecasts. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and You Only Look Once (YOLO) hybrid model is playing a key role in generating crop yield and growth potential under different conditions, adjusting model accuracy over time, and this combination of ANN, GANs and YOLO optimization algorithms ensures that the system continuously enhances its predictive accuracy and overall effectiveness. The rapid advancement of immersive technologies has propelled the development of the Metaverse, where the convergence of virtual and physical realities necessitates the generation of high-quality, photorealistic images to enhance user experience. However, generating these images, especially through Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs), in mobile edge computing environments presents significant challenges due to the limited computing resources of edge devices and the dynamic nature of wireless networks. This paper proposes a novel framework that integrates contract-inspired contest theory, Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), and GDMs to optimize image generation in these resource-constrained environments. The framework addresses the critical challenges of resource allocation and semantic data transmission quality by incentivizing edge devices to efficiently transmit high-quality semantic data, which is essential for creating realistic and immersive images. The use of contest and contract theory ensures that edge devices are motivated to allocate resources effectively, while DRL dynamically adjusts to network conditions, optimizing the overall image generation process. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach not only improves the quality of generated images but also achieves superior convergence speed and stability compared to traditional methods. This makes the framework particularly effective for optimizing complex resource allocation tasks in mobile edge Metaverse applications, offering enhanced performance and efficiency in creating immersive virtual environments. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
