Multidimensional image morphing-fast image-based rendering of open 3D and VR environments

Constant current (CC) charging is a dominant charging process before the battery can be fully charged and the battery is considered as an equivalent resistance with a wide range variation during the process. However, a wide load range variation causes the transfer efficiency of inductive power transfer (IPT) converter to deviate from the optimum point. Therefore, transfer efficiency optimization measures are required during battery CC charging process with IPT converter. Herein, this paper proposed a suitable bivariate control method for a single-stage IPT converter based on inductor-capacitor-capacitor-series (LCC-S) compensation topology, which keeps the converter output current constant and improves transfer efficiency. The newly adopted bivariate control method includes two control variables, the conduction angle of the voltage-controlled semi-active rectifier (VCSAR) and the operating frequency of the inverter. The equivalent load of the VCSAR is adjusted by controlling the conduction angle, and at the same time, the operating frequency of the inverter is controlled to ensure constant current output. Finally, simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the bivariate control method for the LCC-S compensated IPT converter. In addition, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) can be realized in both sides of the converter. © 2023 IEEE.

This article presents a chip designed for wireless intra-cardiac monitoring systems. The design consists of a three-channel analog front-end, a pulse-width modulator featuring output-frequency offset and temperature calibration, and inductive data telemetry. By employing a resistance boosting technique in the instrumentation amplifier feedback, the pseudo-resistor exhibits lower non-linearity, leading to a total harmonic distortion of below 0.1%. Furthermore, the boosting technique enhances the feedback resistance, leading to a reduction in the size of the feedback capacitor and, consequently, the overall size. To make the modulator's output frequency resilient to temperature and process changes, coarse and fine-tuning algorithms are used. The front-end channel is capable of extracting the intra-cardiac signal with an effective number of bits of 8.9, while exhibiting an input-referred noise of less than 2.7 μ Vrms, and consuming 200 nW per channel. The front-end output is encoded by an ASK-PWM modulator, which drives an on-chip transmitter at 13.56 MHz. The proposed System-on-Chip (SoC) is fabricated in a 0.18 μ m standard CMOS technology and consumes 4.5 μW while occupying 1.125 mm2. © 2023 IEEE.

This article presents two approaches based on deep learning for achieving autonomous navigation and subsequently, conducts an in-depth comparative analysis to elaborate their respective performance. Both methods leverage neural networks to facilitate navigation. The first approach employs a deep convolutional neural network to identify suitable areas for forward movement, while the second method utilizes the drone's front camera to capture images, which are then processed by a generative network to generate corresponding depth images. Importantly, both approaches rely solely on an RGB camera, resulting in cost savings for the robot and reduced energy consumption. The training data used for classifying collision-free and appropriate paths were gathered from simulated environments closely resembling real indoor settings. The proposed model calculates the probability associated with each segment of the input image, enabling the selection of the most viable area for drone flight. Incorporating generative networks as a depth estimation module enhances flight accuracy, making navigation in uncharted environments more straightforward. The accuracy of depth estimation was evaluated using standard criteria, achieving an accuracy rate of 84%. This result underscores the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Colored Petri nets (CPNs) provide descriptions of the concurrent behaviors for software and hardware. Model checking based on CPNs is an effective method to simulate and verify the concurrent behavior in system design. However, the model-checking method traverses the full state space, which suffers from the state-space explosion problem. A reduced state-space generation method related to the property of concurrent systems is proposed. Specifically, we extend CPNs to define a property-related model (CPN-PR) and give a property-related analysis method whose results can be used to generate the CPN-PR model. A reduced state-space generation method is developed based on enabled binding element filtering rules. The stutter trace equivalence between the state spaces of CPN and CPN-PR has been proven by showing that the reduced state space may not change the model-checking result. A comparison experiment is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

A large-area bionic skin for high-temperature energy harvesting applications

For the large amount of waste heat wasted in daily life and industrial production,we propose a new type of flexible thermoelectric generators(F-TEGs)which can be used as a large area bionic skin to achieve energy harvesting of thermal *** reference to biological structures such as pinecone,succulent,and feathers,we have designed and fabricated a biomimetic flexible TEG that can be applied in a wide temperature range which has the highest temperature energy harvesting capability *** laminated free structure of the bionic F-TEG dramatically increases the efficiency and density of energy *** F-TEGs(single TEG only 101.2 mg in weight),without an additional heat sink,demonstrates the highest output voltage density of 286.1 mV/cm^(2)and the maximum power density is 66.5 mW/m^(2) at a temperature difference of nearly 1000℃.The flexible characteristics of F-TEGs make it possible to collect the diffused thermal energy by flexible attachment to the outer walls of high-temperature pipes and vessels of different diameters and *** work shows a new design and application concept for flexible thermal energy collectors,which fills the gap of flexible energy harvesting in high-temperature environment.
