A stroke, also known as brain attack, occurs when blood supply to your brain is interrupted. Primary prevention relies on prompt prediction of a stroke. While currently there are several clinical risk scores, machine learning (ML) models seems to be more suitable tools for accurate prediction of stroke events. Therefore, this work focuses on the prediction of stroke within 7 years follow-up in patients who have not suffered from a stroke or TIA event at baseline. LightGBM (LGBM), Extreme Grading Boosting (XGBoost), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree were employed in the getABI dataset, which includes 5,897 participants. The performance of models was calculated by Accuracy (ACC), Sensitivity (SENS), Specificity (SPE) and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of each model. According to the comparison analysis’s results, LGBM has been shown to be the most trustworthy algorithm, with accuracy 68 %. An ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna including filtering attribute through controllable notches band is described in this letter. The antenna layout is made up of a cross shape monopole fed by CPW feeding method. Two flipped L shaped slots (LSS) have been proposed etched from the radiator to work as a resonator. Four scenarios of selectable band notch are present to notch band either WiMAX (3.3–3.7 GHz), C-band (3.7-4.4), WLAN and HiperLAN2 bands (5.1– 5.95GHz), both WiMax and WLAN, or C-band and WLAN. The re-configurability feature is achieved by three PIN diodes inserted over the slots to give the system more flexibility. The band notch shape is controlled by varying L slots lengths through PIN diodes as a bridge. The overall antenna size is (24x30x1.6)mm3 printed on low-cost FR-4 substrate. It is shown in the simulation and measurement results the band notches are fully controllable while the overall bandwidth is confined between (3.1-11.6) GHz for the case where the VSWR is less than 2. The radiation pattern is near to Omni-directional radiation with stable gain except of notched bands, which good candidates for UWB wireless application.

Bioimpedance is a commonly used method for various conditions monitoring. In this paper, the authors carried out some research where they implemented various smoothing filters to enable identification of the bioimpedance spectroscopy parameters. The proposed filtering methods may also be used for application on embedded systems, which have smaller computing power but have become recently very popular. The obtained results with the implementation of smoothing filters were promising, however, some of the obtained results were unsatisfactory. This work also contains a brief introduction to bioimpedance spectroscopy and smoothing filters.
