Li-ion batteries suffer from reliability issues due to thermal instability. For this reason, it is important to design suitable Battery Management Systems (BMSs) able to enhance safety and guarantee high battery performance. In this paper we address the problem of detection of thermal faults within a Li-ion cell using a set-based fault detection scheme where unknown but bounded uncertainties are considered. In particular, an equivalent circuit model (ECM) is used for state estimation taking into account bounded parametric uncertainties and measurement noise. The proposed method relies on constrained zonotopes (CZ), a set representation useful for performing standard operations with a lower computational effort with respect to polytopes. Numerical simulations highlight the effectiveness of the proposed approach in detecting thermal faults at an early stage and show the benefits when compared to an interval based method relying on inclusion functions and constraint propagation

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can attack the lungs and other organs. In the diagnosis of TB, the interpretation of X-ray radiological images requires special skills from medical specialists. However, the lack of experience of medical personnel and focus on X-ray examinations can be a challenge for radiologists because it has the potential to cause diagnostic errors in image interpretation. Therefore, we proposed a web-based application of real-time chest X-ray interpreter by integrating the deep learning model of Vision Transformer (ViT) to interpret chest X-ray images. The inference model was trained and tested on 652 normal and 652 tuberculosis X-ray images. The data preprocessing of Contrast Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) was implemented to increase chest X-ray image contrast as well as inference model performance. The proposed real time system can inteprete the tested chest x-ray images with an accuracy of 95% and with simulation duration time of 4.7 seconds.

Image Enhancement is defined as the process of improving the quality of a digitally-stored image by manipulating it by means of image processing. Image enhancement is often applied in various images such as a Computed Tomography scan, a medical image employing tomography created by computer processing. The image produced in these scans are grayscale in nature and requires a much simpler image processing technique compared to colored images. The techniques that will be used for the enhancement of a Liver CT scan shall follow the standards of “Digital Image Processing” and shall be coded in computerprogramming software (Borland C++ Builder 6). Digital image processing is the use of computer algorithms to perform image processing on digital images, the word algorithm being a series of steps, reoccurring or not. This research will demonstrate and describe in detail the different algorithms that were applied (e.g. grayscale transformation, histograms, histogram equalization, etc.) and the resulting recommended algorithm that will be used to reduce the noise of a liver CT scan image.
