Safe and efficient path planning remains a key challenge for mobile robots, especially in cluttered and complex environments. Many existing methods struggle to balance global exploration and local optimization, often leading to suboptimal paths or high computational costs. This paper presents a bio-inspired Moss Growth Optimization (MGO) algorithm integrated with a graph-based approach for robotic navigation. The environment is efficiently represented using MAKLINK Graph Theory (MGT), enabling rapid initial path generation. MGO enhances global exploration by thoroughly searching the solution space, while an implicit memory mechanism supports local refinement of promising paths. To further improve search efficiency, a Line-of-Sight (LoS) Reduction technique minimizes unnecessary exploration. Simulation results and comparative evaluations show that the proposed approach achieves faster convergence and shorter paths compared to state-of-the-art methods in high-dimensional and cluttered spaces. With its nature-inspired design and memory-based updates, the MGO framework offers a robust, efficient, and scalable solution for optimal robot path planning in real-world autonomous navigation scenarios.

This paper first introduces the characteristics and properties of SiC MOSFETs, focusing on a silicon carbide module, the C2M0080120D, manufactured by CREE. A detailed analysis of the static and dynamic characteristics of SiC MOSFET modules is conducted. Static characteristics encompass the effects of different gate drive voltages, temperature variations, and junction capacitance on the device. Dynamic characteristics were analyzed based on the turn-on and turn-off processes of SiC MOSFETs. Subsequently, using a dual-pulse simulation circuit, the impact factors affecting the module's switching performance, including drive resistance and parasitic inductance, are investigated.

Dissipativity-Based Distributed Control and Communication Topology Co-Design for DC Microgrids with ZIP Loads

This paper presents a novel dissipativity-based distributed droop-free control and communication topology co-design approach for voltage regulation and current sharing in DC microgrids (DC MGs) with generic "ZIP" (constant impedance (Z), current (I) and power (P)) loads. While ZIP loads accurately capture the varied nature of the consumer loads, its constant power load (CPL) component is particularly challenging (and destabilizing) due to its non-linear form. Moreover, ensuring simultaneous voltage regulation and current sharing and co-designing controllers and topology are also challenging when designing control solutions for DC MGs. To address these three challenges, we model the DC MG as a networked system comprised of distributed generators (DGs), ZIP loads, and lines interconnected according to a static interconnection matrix. Next, we equip each DG with a local controller and a distributed global controller (over an arbitrary topology) to derive the error dynamic model of the DC MG as a networked "error" system, including disturbance inputs and performance outputs. Subsequently, to co-design the controllers and the topology ensuring robust (dissipative) voltage regulation and current sharing performance, we use the dissipativity and sector boundedness properties of the involved subsystems and formulate Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problems to be solved locally and globally. To support the feasibility of the global LMI problem, we identify and embed several crucial necessary conditions in the corresponding local LMI problems, thus providing a one-shot approach (as opposed to iterative schemes) to solve the LMI problems. Overall, the proposed approach in this paper provides a unified framework for designing DC MGs. The effectiveness of the proposed solution was verified by simulating an islanded DC MG under different scenarios, demonstrating superior performance compared to traditional control approaches. OceanPlan: Hierarchical Planning and Replanning for Natural Language AUV Piloting in Large-scale Unexplored Ocean Environments

We develop a hierarchical LLM-task-motion planning and replanning framework to efficiently ground an abstracted human command into tangible Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) control through enhanced representations of the world. We also incorporate a holistic replanner to provide real-world feedback with all planners for robust AUV operation. While there has been extensive research in bridging the gap between LLMs and robotic missions, they are unable to guarantee success of AUV applications in the vast and unknown ocean environment. To tackle specific challenges in marine robotics, we design a hierarchical planner to compose executable motion plans, which achieves planning efficiency and solution quality by decomposing long-horizon missions into sub-tasks. At the same time, real-time data stream is obtained by a replanner to address environmental uncertainties during plan execution. Experiments validate that our proposed framework delivers successful AUV performance of long-duration missions through natural language piloting. © 2024, CC BY.

In this work, a broadband single pole triple throw (SP3T) switch that operates between a frequency range of 0.02 - 6 GHz is reconfigured by means of wireless power transfer (WPT) through an energy harvesting (EH) circuit. The WPT is achieved by designing three rectennas working at 2.3 GHz, 2.45 GHz, and 2.6 GHz. Each rectenna consists of a low-power RF rectifier circuit associated with a distinct antenna element and a commercially available e-peas AEM30940 power management unit (PMU) that is able to provide an output of 1.8 V - 4.1 V with cold start-up from 380 mV and 3 μW input power. The PMU also consists of a storage capacitor where the energy from the low power received signal is stored. The three input pins of the SP3T switch require a driving voltage of 1.8 V to actuate its RF port. This voltage is provided by the designed rectennas through the PMU, and we can actuate the switch with a very low power (3 μW) received signal. The rectennas are designed to provide the 380 mV between -12 dBm to -10 dBm received power with a conversion efficiency of approx. 40 %for each rectenna. The proposed method to wirelessly enable the SP3T switch with a low-power RF signal can provide a breakthrough to reconfigure microwave devices and antennas for a broad range of applications, and also paves the way not only for the generation of clean energy, but also for its use as an alternative to batteries. © 2022 European Microwave Association (EuMA).

We offer new methods for characterizing general closed and convex quantum resource theories, including dynamic ones, based on entropic concepts and operational tasks. We propose a resource-theoretic generalization of the quantum conditional min-entropy, termed the free conditional min-entropy (FCME), in the sense that it quantifies an observer's "subjective"degree of uncertainty about a quantum system given that the observer's information processing is limited to free operations of the resource theory. Using this generalized concept, we provide a complete set of entropic conditions for free convertibility between quantum states or channels in any closed and convex quantum resource theory. We also derive an information-theoretic interpretation for the resource global robustness of a state or a channel in terms of a mutual-information-like quantity based on the FCME. Apart from this entropic approach, we characterize dynamic resources by also analyzing their performance in operational tasks. We construct operationally meaningful and complete sets of resource monotones with these tasks, which enable faithful tests of free convertibility between quantum channels. Finally, we show that every well-defined robustness-based measure of a channel can be interpreted as an operational advantage of the channel over free channels in a communication task. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

This paper develops an artificial-intelligence (AI)-assisted design approach for adaptive proportional-integral (PI) controllers to optimize control performance of wide band gap (WBG)-based wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. Traditional PI controllers in WPT systems are designed for static operating conditions, struggling with the dynamic nature of varying air gap distances and operating conditions. Our proposed methodology overcomes these challenges by leveraging machine learning and meta-heuristic algorithms, achieving robustness towards varying coil positions and operating conditions. The effectiveness of the adaptive PI controller has been validated through simulation experiments and has demonstrated great improvements over conventional fixed PI controllers.

Antenna realized gain is generally defined and used to analyze transmitting antennas, but rarely for receiving antennas. In this paper, we use a direct way to model and understand the receiving antennas. The flow of electromagnetic energy around a receiving antenna is modeled by generating streamlines of the Poynting vectors. The realized gain can be described by a two-dimensional geometry, where the streamlines within this region are absorbed by the antenna load. Compared to the traditional equivalent circuit, this image provides a closer physical way to explain and understand the realized gain for the receiving antennas. © 2022 IEEE.
