Map-free LiDAR localization systems accurately localize within known environments by predicting sensor position and orientation directly from raw point clouds, eliminating the need for large maps and descriptors. However, their long training times hinder rapid adaptation to new environments. To address this, we propose FlashMix, which uses a frozen, scene-agnostic backbone to extract local point descriptors, aggregated with an MLP mixer to predict sensor pose. A buffer of local descriptors is used to accelerate training by orders of magnitude, combined with metric learning or contrastive loss regularization of aggregated descriptors to improve performance and convergence. We evaluate FlashMix on various LiDAR localization benchmarks, examining different regularizations and aggregators, and demonstrating its effectiveness for rapid and accurate LiDAR localization in real-world scenarios. This paper presents a communication emulation model for enhancing the efficiency of multi-microgrid (MMG) networks, employing Network Simulator 3 (ns3). MMG systems require robust communication frameworks for coordination, particularly under varying traffic conditions. The introduced model accommodates multiple local area networks (LANs) that support efficient communication across multiple autonomous AC microgrids. The developed model facilitates seamless bidirectional information exchange between the microgrids' local controllers and the MMG control center (MMGCC), employing TCP/IP protocol to ensure high data transmission integrity and low latency. A detailed design in C + is demonstrated, including the configuration of the communication nodes, topology, communication links, and quality of service (QoS) analysis. The network performance is rigorously assessed across low and high traffic conditions, with performance metrics such as throughput, delay, and percentage packet loss at each node. Results confirm the effectiveness of the introduced model in sustaining minimal packet loss, high throughput, and low delays under dynamic operating scenarios. These findings establish the developed model as a viable solution for meeting the real-time communication requirements of MMG energy management systems. © 2025 IEEE.

Physical Intrusion Attack Detection in Fieldbus Network With Passive Fail-Safe Biasing

Fieldbus is widely used for real-time distributed control in Industrial Control Systems (ICSs) due to its simplicity and stability. The real-world fieldbus network contains hundreds of interconnected devices, presenting a widespread network layout. Attackers can attach external intrusion devices to these communication lines to launch various attacks. In this paper, we model the fieldbus network’s channel fingerprint based on the signal’s amplitude and propose a detection method to identify potential attackers (silent intrusion devices that are eavesdropping) via channel fingerprint differences. Leveraging the passive fail-safe biasing voltage in the fieldbus network such as RS485, we can still detect the intrusion device when the fieldbus is idle (i.e., no devices are transmitting commands), which can significantly reduce the detection delay with lower sampling costs. Moreover, our method can adapt to environmental changes with little computational overhead by generating dynamic thresholds. Using a monitoring unit with stored channel fingerprints, our method can be easily deployed in fieldbus networks without occupying communication resources. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method have been demonstrated via extensive experiments on two real-world scenarios and one simulation scenario, where we can achieve 100% accuracy and 0% false alarm rates against various intrusion devices. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Averaging-Based Energy Management Strategy for Hybrid Battery-Ultracapacitor Energy Storage System

Considering a battery as the energy source for steady average current and an ultracapacitor as the dynamic energy buffer, this paper proposes a novel control strategy based on average current demand. The methodology averages the demand current over a time window to determine battery current, combined with rules to maintain the ultracapacitor's state of charge above 50%. However, the battery current is significantly affected by the averaging time window. A small window causes fluctuations, while a large one imposes unwanted currents to control the ultracapacitor's state of charge. As so, by optimizing the averaging window, this strategy minimizes battery current stress and power loss. Simulations under an urban driving cycle compare the proposed strategy with a sole-battery configuration, dynamic programming (benchmark), and rule-based approaches (original strategy). The simulation results indicate that the proposed strategy smooths battery currents, achieves over 75% of dynamic programming's effectiveness in extending battery life, and reduces computational burden and memory usage by over 85%. The strategy's low computational burden, and causal nature enable real-time control, which is demonstrated practically on an experimental setup. © 2025 IEEE.

Multiview fuzzy clustering (MVFC) has gained widespread adoption owing to its inherent flexibility in handling ambiguous data. The proliferation of privatization devices has driven the emergence of new challenge in MVFC research works. Federated learning, a technique that can jointly train without directly using raw data, has gain significant attention in decentralized MVFC. However, their applicability depends on the assumptions of data integrity and independence between different views. In fact, while within distributed environments, data typically exhibits two challenging problems: 1) multiple views within a single client;2) incomplete data. Existing methods exhibit limitations in effectively addressing these challenges. Hence, in this study, we aim at achieving the effective clustering for incomplete data by a novel vertical federated MVFC framework. Specifically, a unified clustering framework is designed to capture both local client learning and global server training. For the local client learning, the data reconstruction strategy and prototype alignment strategy are introduced to ensure the preservation of data structure and refinement of clustering relationships, which mitigates the impact of incomplete data. Meanwhile, the global training process implements aggregation based on client-specific information. The whole process is realized based on the unified fuzzy clustering framework, promoting collaborative learning between client-specific and server information. Theoretical analyses and extensive experiments are carefully conducted to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method from multiple perspectives. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

The administration of anesthesia is critical for ensuring the safety of surgical procedures, yet it comes with inherent risks associated with medication mistakes. Monitoring EEG signals during anesthesia is crucial for understanding patient physiology; however, the accuracy of this information heavily relies on effectively eliminating noise. Decreasing noise in EEG signals is vital for accurately interpreting data, ultimately enhancing patient safety and refining anesthesia management. This research concentrates on an advanced preprocessing technique for EEG signals, employing segmentation, detrending, variational mode decomposition (VMD), and noise reduction through Gaussian filtering, moving averages, Independent Component Analysis (ICA), and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). The study utilized EEG data collected during surgeries and applied these preprocessing approaches to reduce noise and artifacts. Our results indicate that employing the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) for denoising is robust and produces superior outcomes compared to other techniques investigated, achieving a high Signal-To-Noise Ratio (SNR) of 43.23 dB.

This paper describes SPICE [1] simulation techniques that can be used to find the return ratios for the differential and common-mode feedback loops in balanced, fully differential circuits, Since each of these loops may contain multiple feedback paths, conditions under which these two return ratios are sufficient for determining stability of the balanced feedback circuit are described, To allow the use of these techniques with switched-capacitor common-mode feedback circuits, a special simulation technique is presented that finds the de bias for the return-ratio simulations.

Multiplexing technology serves as an effective approach to increase both information storage and transmission capability. However, when exploring multiplexing methods across various dimensions, the polarization dimension encounters limitations stemming from the finite orthogonal combinations. Given that only two mutually orthogonal polarizations are identifiable on the basic Poincaré sphere, this poses a hindrance to polarization modulation. To overcome this challenge, we propose a construction method for the optical polarized orthogonal matrix(OPOM), which is not constrained by the number of orthogonal combinations. Furthermore, we experimentally validate its application in high-dimensional multiplexing of polarization holography. We explore polarization holography technology, capable of recording amplitude, phase, and polarization, for the purpose of recording and selective reconstruction of polarization multi-channels. Our research reveals that, despite identical polarization states, multiple images can be independently manipulated within distinct polarization channels through orthogonal polarization combinations, owing to the orthogonal selectivity among information.

Channel Autoencoders (CAEs) have shown significant potential in optimizing the physical layer of a wireless communication system for a specific channel through joint end-to-end training. However, the practical implementation of CAEs faces several challenges, particularly in realistic and dynamic scenarios. Channels in communication systems are dynamic and change with time. Still, most proposed CAE designs assume stationary scenarios, meaning they are trained and tested for only one channel realization without regard for the dynamic nature of wireless communication systems. Moreover, conventional CAEs are designed based on the assumption of having access to a large number of pilot signals, which act as training samples in the context of CAEs. However, in real-world applications, it is not feasible for a CAE operating in real-time to acquire large amounts of training samples for each new channel realization. Hence, the CAE has to be deployable in few-shot learning scenarios where only limited training samples are available. Furthermore, most proposed conventional CAEs lack fast adaptability to new channel realizations, which becomes more pronounced when dealing with a limited number of pilots. To address these challenges, this paper proposes the Online Meta Learning channel AE (OML-CAE) framework for few-shot CAE scenarios with dynamic channels. The OML-CAE framework enhances adaptability to varying channel conditions in an online manner, allowing for dynamic adjustments in response to evolving communication scenarios. Moreover, it can adapt to new channel conditions using only a few pilots, drastically increasing pilot efficiency and making the CAE design feasible in realistic scenarios.

Hydrodynamic Modulation Transfer Functions for the Creamer and Choppy Wave Surface Models and Their Impact on Doppler Scattering Simulations

Doppler scattering simulations from sea-like surfaces are sensitive to nonlinear hydrodynamic effects in wave propagation. Two commonly considered approaches to introduce such nonlinearities - the Creamer transform and the Choppy wave model - are examined in this article. It has been observed that the two models yield simulated Doppler spectra with conspicuously different centroids. Based on the modulation transfer function (MTF) theory for the Doppler moments of sea backscatter, it seems plausible that such behavior could result from model differences in the hydrodynamic modulation of smaller, scatter-producing ripples by larger waves. We perform numerical experiments to measure the corresponding hydrodynamic MTFs (HMTFs). An established approach uses a single-harmonic large-scale surface. A correlation-based technique is also proposed that allows HMTFs to be estimated in Monte Carlo simulations of full-spectrum ocean-like surface profiles. Both methodologies show the Creamer HMTF values to be significantly larger than their Choppy wave counterparts. Estimates made with ocean-like surfaces are also found higher than those based on the solitary-wave approach, particularly for the Creamer model. Application of the first-order Romeiser-Thompson theory with the estimated HMTF values produces Doppler shifts that are in general agreement with those observed in exact scattering simulations using either surface representation. The results of the study reveal considerable differences between the hydrodynamic modulation effects of the two surface models and demonstrate that those disparities are important contributors to the observed deviations in Doppler centroids. More work is required to conclusively determine a preference for one model over the other. © 1980-2012 IEEE.
