The technologies vested by the introduction of fifth generation (5G) networks as well as the emerging 6G systems present opportunities for enhanced communication and computational capabilities that will advance many large-scale critical applications in the critical domains of manufacturing, extended reality, power generation and distribution, water, agriculture, transportation, healthcare, and defense and security, among many others. However, for these enhanced communication networks to take full effect, these networks, including wireless infrastructure, end-devices, edge/cloud servers, base stations, core network and satellite-based elements, should be equipped with real-time decision support capabilities, cognizant of multilevel and multimodal time-varying conditions, to enable self-sustainment of the networks and communications infrastructures, for optimal management and adaptive resource allocation with minimum possible intervention from operators. To meet the highly dynamic and extreme performance requirements of these heterogeneous multi-component, multilayer communication infrastructures on latency, data rate, reliability, and other user-defined metrics, these support methods will need to leverage the accuracy of full-scale models for multi-objective optimization, adaptive management, and control of time-varying and complex operations. This paper discusses how algorithmic, methodological, and instrumentation capabilities learned from Dynamic Data Driven Applications systems (DDDAS)-based methodologies can be applied to enable optimized and resilient design and operational management of the complex and highly dynamic 5G/6G communication infrastructures. Such smart DDDAS capabilities are unswervingly proven for more than two decades on adaptive real-time control of various systems requiring the high accuracy of full-scale modeling for multi-objective real-time decision making with efficient computational resource utilization. © The Author(s), under exclusive li

NIST is standardizing postquantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms that are resilient to the computational capability of quantum computers. Past works show malicious subversion with cryptographic software algorithm subversion attacks (ASAs) that weaken the implementations. We show that PQC digital signature (DS) codes can be subverted in line with previously reported flawed implementations (2008) (Bernstein et al., 2016) that generate verifiable, but less-secure signatures, demonstrating the risk of such attacks. Since all processors have built-in hardware performance counters (HPCs), there exists a body of work proposing a low-cost machine learning (ML)-based integrity checking of software using HPC fingerprints. However, such HPC-based approaches may not detect subversion of PQC codes. A miniscule percentage of qualitative inputs when applied to the PQC codes improves this accuracy to 98%. We propose gray-box fuzzing as a preprocessing step to obtain inputs to aid the proposed HPC-based method. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Ag-incorporated Sb2 (SxSe1-x)3 thin-film solar cells are potential candidates for efficient and low-cost photovoltaic devices. We have investigated two-terminal tandem solar cells with AgSb(SxSe1-x)3 and Sb2S3 by modeling and simulating multiple device configurations. A tandem structure consists of a bottom AgSb(SxSe1-x)3 solar cell and a top Sb2S3 solar cell with different bandgaps to selectively absorb targeted photon energy. To optimize the performance, each absorber layer thickness is also adjusted based on optimized sulfur concentration (x=0.2) of AgSb(SxSe1-x)3 solar cells. The bandgap of AgSb (S0.2Se0.8)3 bottom cells and Sb2S3 top cells are 1.19 eV and 1.7 eV, respectively. Using the filtered spectrum and the current matching techniques, AgSb(S0.2Se0.8)3/Sb2S3 tandem devices show open circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.63 V, current density (Jsc) of 17.04 mA/cm2, and fill factor (FF) of 62.94 %. Collective, the power conversion efficiency is 17.48 %. The optimized absorber thickness of the top layer is 610 nm while the bottom layer is 400 nm. The result indicates that the AgSb(S0.2Se0.8)3/Sb2S3 tandem device is a promising candidate to further improve the efficiency of emerging thin-film solar cells. © 2024 IEEE.

As mobile devices with dual WiFi and cellular interfaces become widespread, network protocols have been developed that utilize the availability of multiple paths. To evaluate the performance of these protocols on a testbed, researchers often use link emulation with either synthetic traces or real traces from live WiFi and cellular networks. However, in a multipath scenario, the two links are not necessarily independent. The available bandwidth on the WiFi and cellular links may be negatively correlated (e.g. when moving from indoors to outdoors or vice versa) or positively correlated (e.g. when the local density of other users increases, so that both networks become more congested at the same time), and the result of an experimental evaluation of a multipath protocol will depend heavily on this relationship. Link traces of WiFi and cellular links measured at the same time, in the same place are necessary for the reproducible evaluation of multi path protocols in a testbed environment. The contributions of this work, therefore are: first ever data set of wireless link traces measured simultaneously on WiFi and cellular interfaces of a mobile device, and reference experiments for replaying these traces on emulated links on the CloudLab and FABRIC testbeds. © 2023 IEEE.

The amount of data that we retrieve and use every day is increasing rapidly. As data naturally exist in different data domains, the number of data domains that we retrieve and use every day has also increased as a result. As different recommendation systems are needed for different data domains, more and more recommendation systems will need to be built. Furthermore, users will lose their privacy as many recommendation systems collect information about their users. This paper aims to solve the aforementioned issues by creating a recommendation system that will work with any data domain and upholds the privacy of its users. The Dynamic Implementation Of Privacy Based Recommendation System Application is created in this paper. The objective of this thesis is achieved as the Dynamic Implementation Of Privacy Based Recommendation System Application developed in this paper upholds the privacy of its users as it only stores users' data in their device's local database and the application has the ability to adapt to different data domains. © 2023 IEEE.

Stress tolerance plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of piezoresistive sensing films used in flexible pressure ***,existing methods for enhancing stress tolerance employ dome-shaped,wrinkle-shaped,and pyramidal-shaped microstructures in intricate molding and demolding processes,which introduce significant fabrication challenges and limit the sensing *** address these shortcomings,this paper presents periodic microslits in a sensing film made of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and polydimethylsiloxane to realize ultrahigh stress tolerance with a theoretical maximum of 2.477 MPa and a sensitivity of 18.092 kPa−*** periodic microslits permit extensive deformation under high pressure(e.g.,400 kPa)to widen the detection ***,the periodic microslits also enhance the sensitivity based on simultaneously exhibiting multiple synapses within the sensing interface and between the periodic sensing *** proposed solution is verified by experiments using sensors based on the microslit strategy for wind direction detection,robot movement sensing,and human health *** these experiments,vehicle load detection is achieved for ultrahigh pressure sensing under an ultrahigh pressure of over 400 kPa and a ratio of the contact area to the total area of 32.74%.The results indicate that the proposed microslit strategy can achieve ultrahigh stress tolerance while simplifying the fabrication complexity of preparing microstructure sensing films.

Under the circumstance of the new-type power system, uncertainties on both sides of supply and demand lead to prominent characteristics of supply-demand probabilistic matching and multi-regional complementarity, which greatly increased the balance risk during system operation. In this regard, this paper proposes a short-term electric power balance analysis model for a renewable energy power base transmitted through a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system. First, a detailed cascade hydropower system (CHS) and HVDC model are constructed , and different linearization techniques are applied to linearize different nonlinear constraints, reducing computational complexity. Second, to effectively capture the uncertainty of renewable energy, an Imprecise Dirichlet model (IDM) based method for constructing uncertainty sets is designed, greatly reducing the conservation of the robust optimization. Finally, a two-stage robust optimization model with mixed-integer recourse is established to analyze the potentially unbalanced state by minimizing the operational and curtailment costs. The proposed two-stage robust optimization model is a solved column-and-constraint generation (C&CG) algorithm by using customized nested. The result of the numerical verifies the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) faces significant challenges in achieving high efficiency and stable output power for charging mobile devices like EVs. Using circular pads (CP) as the transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) and a self-oscillating controlled inverter, this paper demonstrates a robust WPT system that maintains high constant transfer efficiency and output power in a defined region regardless of coupling coefficient variations without communication between Tx and Rx or control circuits for the receiver side. In contrast to couplers with non-identical Tx and Rx pads and multiple decoupled coils in the Rx pad, the compact CP-CP magnetic coupler with a single identical coil on the Tx and Rx is more robust at a wider transfer distance (air gap) and lateral and rotational misalignment between the Tx and Rx. The proposed 1-kW robust WPT system with up to a 20 cm air gap between the Tx and Rx and up to 12 cm lateral misalignment in all directions at a 15 cm air gap and all degrees of rotational misalignment can tolerate coupling variations and achieve constant output power with 93% constant transfer efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

The research of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is extensively used to improve the capacity of networks beyond the fifth-generation. The recent merger of NOMA with ambient Backscatter Communication (BackCom), though opening new possibilities for massive connectivity, poses several challenges in dense wireless networks. One such challenge is the performance degradation of ambient BackCom in multi-cell NOMA networks under the effect of inter-cell interference. Driven by providing an efficient solution to the issue, this article proposes a new resource allocation framework that uses a duality theory approach. Specifically, the sum rate of the multi-cell network with backscatter tags and NOMA user equipment is maximized by formulating a joint optimization problem. To find the efficient base station transmit power and backscatter reflection coefficient in each cell, the original problem is first divided into two subproblems, and then the closed form solution is derived. A comparison with the Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) ambient BackCom and pure NOMA transmission has been provided. Simulation results of the proposed NOMA ambient BackCom indicate a significant improvement over the OMA ambient BackCom and pure NOMA in terms of sum-rate gains.
