Correlations of an environment are crucial for the dynamics of non-Markovian quantum systems, which may not be known in advance. In this paper, we propose a gradient algorithm for identifying the correlations in terms of time varying damping rate functions in a time-convolution-less master equation for spin chains. By measuring time trace observables of the system, the identification procedure can be formulated as an optimization problem. The gradient algorithm is designed based on a calculation of the derivative of an objective function with respect to the damping rate functions, whose effectiveness is shown in a comparison to a differential approach for a two-qubit spin chain. As one of the key theories of target tracking,Multi-sensor data fusion(MSDF) is widely utilized in engineering ***,the research of MSDF is under the hypothesis that the measurement systems of sensors are only influenced by white noise and their priori knowledge is obtained,which is not appropriate for practical *** these situations,a white noise model convention and adaptive measurement noise adjustment is added into the two proposed fusion methods called centralized measurement fusion(CMF) and decentralized state fusion(DSF).The equations of fusion estimation results are derived both with and without white noise *** method of adaptive covariance adjustment based on artificial neural network(ANN) is *** simulation results show that the measurement model is estimated more precisely by denoting the colored noise with white noise,the adaptive variance adjustment method contributes to overcoming the priori information deficiency of noise and keep the tracking precision,and the DSF has higher tracking accuracy than the local filter based on each sensor but lower than the CMF.

This paper fucuses on the global control problem for a class of upper-triangular nonlinear systems whose linearization around the origin is not guaranteed to be controllable. Assuming that the nonlinearities satisfy the homogeneous growth conditions, a nonsmooth state-feedback controller is elaborately constructed based on the adding a power integrator technique and the homogeneous domination approach. By introducing the dynamic gain to deal with the input dependent growth rate, it can be proved that all the signals of the closed-loop system are bounded and the system states converge to the origin asymptotically.

This paper presents a new release of A Robust Exact Differentiator Toolbox for Matlab ® /Simulink ® proposed in [1]. This release features a new discrete-time realization of the continuous-time robust exact differentiator. The implemented discretization scheme is less sensitive to gain overestimation and does not suffer from the discretization chattering effect. Hence, the single tuning parameter of the new version of the implemented differentiator is more intuitive to tune. Furthermore, it shows superior estimation performance in the case of large sampling times in comparison to the previous release. This is confirmed by the presented results obtained by numerical simulations and a real world application.

Since the recursive nature of Kalman filtering always results in a growing size of the optimization problem, state estimation is usually realized by use of finite-memory, receding horizon, sliding window, or "frozen" techniques, which causes difficulties on stability analysis. This paper proposes a novel method on selection of an initial covariance matrix and a horizon for the Kalman filter to make sure that a sequence of the closed-loop Kalman filters are stable as time-invariant filters at subsequent time instant. Convergent properties of Riccati Difference Equation (RDE) are first exploited. Based on these properties, sufficient conditions for stability of a sequence of Kalman filters are obtained. Compared with the existent literature, the convergent properties and the stability conditions are less conservative since they provide analytic results and are applicable to more common cases where the RDEs are not monotonic. © 2017 X. Sub-Saharan Africa in recent years have been faced with many power challenges including limited and unreliable power supply, high cost of power supply and underdeveloped power infrastructures with serious negative impacts on the socio-economic development. This paper presents the development of Smart Energy Management Solution (SEMS) for buildings. The work seeks to propose a generic algorithm that supports existing wiring infrastructure of buildings in Africa to provide 24/7 reliable power supply and efficient management of limited power supply in buildings. SEMS focuses on the use of robust, distributed and heterogeneous power sources connected in islanding phenomenon to ensure reliability and also using a dynamic approach with energy efficiency measures to provide a balance between power supply and demand in buildings. A demonstration of SEMS for buildings was performed in MATLAB Simulink using actual data obtained from selected buildings at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. SEMS revealed higher power reliability and efficiency in energy usage. © 2017

Gastric ulcer is a chronic and complex (and often complete) erosion of the stomach wall that happens as a complication of a previous chronic, inflammatory process. It represents a catastrophic situation in which the patient is critical and its conditions need to be treated fast. This study presents a remotely navigatable and deployable ingestible patch and plug for gastric ulcer treatment. The patch/plug structure is made of agarose hydrogel that can change rigidity through hydration and dehydration. When dehydrated, it is rigid and can maintain a folded configuration so it can be ingested as a "pill". This can be guided to the targeted location by a magnetic field, and be deployed instantly by hydration, namely by supplying water from the mouth. Due to the deployable origami design, it exhibits an expansion of 10 times its initial surface area, making the device suitable for the use of dressing a surface as a patch, and filling a hole as a plug.

BACKGROUND:Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infections carry high case-fatality rates. Although the incidence of these infections is increasing and therapeutic options are limited, effective interventions to prevent the cross-transmission of CRAB have rarely been tested. AIM:To assess the impact of cohorting CRAB patients combined with intensified environmental cleaning on CRAB bloodstream infections (BSI). METHODS:A quasi-experimental study at a tertiary hospital during January 2022 - June 2024. We cohorted all patients with CRAB (either colonization or infection) hospitalized in the internal medicine departments. Simultaneously, we performed a twice-daily routine and a double terminal cleaning of all hospital rooms occupied by CRAB patients. We calculated the monthly acquired CRAB BSI rates and estimated the incidence rate ratio (IRR) using Poisson regression discontinuity analysis with robust standard errors controlled for the influx of CRAB patients into the hospital. FINDINGS:During January 2022 to June 2024, we identified 610 hospitalized patients with CRAB, 350 (57%) of whom acquired the bacterium in hospital and 138 (39%) developed BSI. The average overall 30-days mortality rate was 61% and remained relatively similar throughout the study period. Cumulative BSI incidence decreased by 55%, from 1.43 per 10,000 hospitalization days before the intervention to 0.65 afterwards. The slope of the BSI incidence rate decreased by 9% per month (adjusted IRR 0.909, 95% CI 0.834-0.990, p=0.029). CONCLUSIONS:Cohorting CRAB patients in the internal medicine departments, combined with intensified cleaning throughout the hospital significantly reduced the incidence of CRAB BSI across the entire institution.
