In this paper, an automatic segmentation and counting method for insect monitoring in orchard was proposed. The method based on image processing consisted of:(1) touching insect detection,(2) local segmentation points search using boundary tracking and morphological thinning operation, recursively,(3) segmentation lines implementation using the shortest distance *** performance was evaluated in terms of segmentation ratio and segmentation accuracy. Compared with the watershed method, the proposed method had improvement in evaluation criteria. Its average segmentation ratio was 1.03 and average segmentation accuracy was 96.7%, respectively. The results demonstrate the proposed method is an alternative solution for insect monitoring in integrated pest management.

Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has a special closed structure, whose humidity cannot be measured directly. This paper selects the diffusion model as the modelling and analysis basis of the humidity mechanism soft-sensing based on the experimental research object. After the study of the basic principles of the diffusion model, a one-dimensional data-driven proton exchange membrane fuel cell humidity mechanism soft-sensing model is analysed and completed. At last, the actual experimental data drives the humidity mechanism soft-sensing model and the predicted output error based on the humidity mechanism soft-sensing model can be controlled within 3%. The output results verify the effectiveness of the humidity mechanism soft-sensing model.

Short-term power flow analysis has a significant influence on day-ahead generation schedule. This paper proposes a time series model and prediction error distribution model of wind power output. With the consideration of wind speed and wind power output forecast error’s correlation, the probabilistic distributions of transmission line flows during tomorrow’s 96 time intervals are obtained using cumulants combined Gram-Charlier expansion method. The probability density function and cumulative distribution function of transmission lines on each time interval could provide scheduling planners with more accurate and comprehensive information. Simulation in IEEE 39-bus system demonstrates effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm.

State estimation is a core objective in cyber-physical systems. In the state estimation problem over linear systems, the Kalman filter is the standard solution. The filter is the format on which the solutions to subsequent estimation problems are based. Among these problems are the estimation problem in the presence of packet drops and estimation problem involving event-based triggers. We study in this paper both phenomena simultaneously. In an attempt to find the Kalman-like filter, which proves the Gaussianity of the state and offers a set of update equations, our paper shows that no such filter exists. More precisely, one cannot find an event-based trigger such that under possible packet drops, the state variable remains a Gaussian variable. This conclusion can be reasonably extended to a more general setting.

Power system restoration has attracted more attention and made great progress recently. Research progress of the power system restoration from 2006 to 2016 is reviewed in this paper, including black-start, network reconfiguration and load restoration. Some emerging methods and key techniques are also discussed in the context of the integration of variable renewable energy and development of the smart grid. There is a long way to go to achieve automatic self-healing in bulk power systems because of its extreme complexity. However, rapidly developing artificial intelligence technology will eventually enable the step-by-step dynamic decision-making based on the situation awareness of supervisory control and data acquisition systems(SCADA) and wide area measurement systems(WAMS) in the near future.
