Anti-windup design is an intuitive and efficient way to deal with input saturation *** the classic antiwindup design,the compensator is set to be activated immediately as the control signal saturates the *** important innovation in the anti-windup activation mechanism is to delay the activation of the anti-windup mechanism until the saturation reaches to a certain severity which led to a performance improvement of the resulting closed-loop *** recently,it was shown that by activating a static anti-windup mechanism in anticipation of actuator saturation,significant further performance improvements can be achieved in comparison with the delayed activation *** addition,we have combined both the delayed and anticipatory activation mechanisms,to develop the multiple activation strategy,in terms of(?) gain *** paper furthermore considers the problem of enlarging domain of attraction and demonstrates that the multiple activation of a static multiple feedback anti-windup mechanism would also lead to significant performance improvements over both the immediate and delayed activation schemes.

This paper presents an operational approach for determining satellite attitude from carrier phase GPS (Global Positioning system) measurements. A conventional recursive least square (RLS) estimator was implemented without requiring spacecraft dynamics. The proposed approach can be applicable for general space missions, particularly for real-time operation onboard-spacecraft. The attitude angles and electrical path difference (line bias) between antenna chains caused an offset error in GPS observables, can be estimated. The implemented estimator was tested with a simulated data, and the flight data collected onboard a mini-satellite orbiting in low Earth orbit. © 2012 IEEE.

To improve the human gait recognition rate, a method based on the modified gait flow image (GFI) considering the walking direction is used in this paper. The walking direction depends on the height and position at the walking beginning point and ending point in a gait cycle. GFI is generated to represent the motion characteristics of a gait without constructing any model. Lacus-Kanade's approach is used to calculate the optical flow field of GFI. In recognition phase, a database about GFIs at different walking directions of the target is established in advance. After computing the new person's walking direction and GFI, we look up the database to find GFI of the target according to the new person's walking direction. Then Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) is used to reduce the dimension. At last we can recognize whether the new person is the target through computing the similarity between the new GFI and the target's GFI. The performance of this method was evaluated on the data in the CASIA B database and the data obtained in lab environment. The experimental results prove that the estimated walking direction is quite correct, and the GFI computed by Lacus-Kanade's approach is an efficient gait representation for gait recognition. © 2012 IEEE.

The fabrication of diamond-like carbon (DLC) micro-gear by room temperature curing nanoimprint lithography (RTC-NIL) using glass-like carbon (GC) molds as applications to the DLC-based medical MEMS (Micro electronic Mechanical systems) was investigated. The DLC film which has excellent properties similar to chemical vapor deposited (CVD) diamond films was used as the patterning material. We propose GC as mold material because GC has higher etching selectivity than a diamond film. The etching selectivity of polysiloxane film against a GC substrate is about 5 times as high as that of a diamond film. Therefore we fabricated the GC molds that have micro-gear patterns with 30 µm-tip diameter and 500 nm-tooth thickness. We carried out the RTC-NIL process using the GC micro-gear molds under the following optimum conditions. 1 min-time from spin-coating to imprint: t1, 0.5 MPa-imprinting pressure: P and 5 min-holding time: t2, and then the imprinted polysiloxane pattern on DLC film was processed with an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) oxygen ion shower. However, we were not able to fabricate micro-gear patterns in high accuracy because of a remaining residual layer on the DLC film. Therefore we propose the removing process for the residual layer with trifluoromethane (CHF3) ion shower under the optimum conditions of 300 eV-ion energy and 4 min-etching time. As a result, we succeeded to fabricate concave DLC-based micro-gear patterns in high accuracy which has 30 µm-tip diameter and 1 µm-depth.

Outdoor images captured during inclement weather conditions generally exhibit visibility degradation. Localized light sources often result from activation of streetlights and vehicle headlights and are common scenarios in these conditions. The presence of localized light sources in hazy images may cause the generation of oversaturation artifacts when those images are restored by traditional state-of-the-art haze removal techniques. Therefore, we propose a novel haze removal approach based on the proposed hybrid dark channel prior technique in order to remedy the problems associated with localized light sources during image restoration. The overall results show that the proposed haze removal approach can recover haze-free images more effectively than can the other previous state-of-the-art haze removal approach while avoiding over-saturation.

As an application to the nanoemitter, we investigated the nanofabrication of diamond-like carbon (DLC)-dot arrays by room-temperature curing imprint-liftoff (RTCIL) method using aluminum mask. The DLC film which has excellent properties similar to diamond properties was used as the patterning material. A polished glass like carbon (GC) was used as a mold material. The polysiloxane in the state of sticky liquid at room temperature and stable in air exhibits a negative-exposure characteristics. Therefore, the polysiloxane was used as electron beam (EB) resist and oxide mask material in EB lithography, and also used as RTC-imprint resist material. An aluminum was used as oxide metal mask material of liftoff. We have fabricated the GC mold of dot arrays with 5 µm-square and 500 nm-height. We carried out the RTCIL process using the GC mold under the following optimum imprint conditions: 0.5 MPa-imprinting pressure and 5 min- holding time. Aluminum film on the imprinted polysiloxane was prepared by vacuum evaporation method and its thickness is 20 nm. Finally, the polysiloxane patterns were removed with acetone and aluminum mask patterns were fabricated. We found that the maximum etching selectivity of aluminum film against DLC film was as high as 35, which was obtained under an ion energy of 400 eV. Then we processed the patterned aluminum on DLC film with an ECR oxygen ion shower. We fabricated DLC-dot arrays with 5 µm-square and 400 nm-height with an aspect ratio of 0.08.

With the development of SOA based on web services, there are more and more web services with same interface and similar function. How to find and choose the best web service is an important problem that all SOA enterprises face. QoS is used to describe the quality criteria of a web service. In this paper, a new algorithm of web service hierarchy base on QoS similarity has been proposed, which is concerned with meeting requirements of service consumers and the satisfaction with load requirement.

A New Calibration Method for an Inertial and Visual Sensing system

The relative pose between inertial and visual sensors equipped in autonomous robots is calibrated in two steps. In the first step, the sensing system is moved along a line, the orientations in the relative pose are computed from at least five corresponding points in the two images captured before and after the movement. In the second step, the translation parameters in the relative pose are obtained with at least two corresponding points in the two images captured before and after one step motion. Experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper addresses the stability problem of a class of nonlinear switched systems with partitioned state-space and state-dependent switching. In lieu of the Carathéodory solutions, the general Filippov solutions are considered. This encapsulates solutions with infinite switching in finite time. Based on the theory of differential inclusions, a Lyapunov stability theorem is brought forward. These results are also extended to switched systems subject to polytopic uncertainty. Furthermore, the proposed stability theorems are reformulated using the sum of squares decomposition method which provides sufficient means to construct the corresponding Lyapunov functions via available semi-definite programming techniques. © 2012 IFAC.

The image fusion algorithm based on adaptive dual-tree discrete wavelet packets(ADDWP) which combine the dual-tree discrete wavelet transform(DDWT) and the wavelet packets is proposed in this paper. In ADDWP, DDWT subbands are further decomposed into wavelet packets with anisotropic decomposition, so that the resulting wavelets have elongated support regions and more orientations than DDWT wavelets. To determine the decompoisition structure, we using the signal-to-noise ratio to estimate the distributing of the denoising in order to search the more denoising subbands to decomposition it again. So we can get adaptive decompoisition structure of wavelet packets. The new algorithm has significantly lower computational complexity. The proposed fusion scheme gives better performance. © 2012 IEEE.
