It has been widely acknowledged that a major reason for software project failure is the ambiguous and incomplete customer's requirements. One of their main cautions is the inconsistency between implementation image and specification at an early stage of software development. Therefore, we have been proposed a method to automatically generate a user interface prototype from a requirements analysis model in Unified Modeling Language in order to decrease inconsistency between them for business Web application development. In this paper, we have compared our proposal with traditional use case modeling to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposal.

Many image segmentation methods have been proposed over the last few decades. However, the results of segmentation are usually evaluated only visually, qualitatively, or indirectly by the effectiveness of the segmentation on the subsequent processing steps. Such methods are either subjective or tied to particular applications. A few quantitative evaluation methods have been proposed, but these early methods have been based entirely on empirical analysis and have no theoretical grounding. In this paper, we put forward the concept of segmentation entropy, based on which a novel objective segmentation evaluation method is proposed. This method uses region entropy as the basis for measuring the uniformity of pixel characteristics within segmented regions and segmented entropy as a whole measure to provide a relative qualitative score that can be used to compare both various parameterizations of one particular segmentation method as well as fundamentally different segmentation techniques.

A method to analyze the properties of ultrasonic transducer is proposed. The method is based on Hilbert-Huang Transform. The signals derived from ultrasonic transducer will be decomposed by empirical mode decomposition, and then the intrinsic mode functions can be obtained. So the marginal spectrum of each intrinsic mode functions will be calculated. The marginal spectrum offers a measure of total amplitude (or energy) contribution from each frequency value. Using those marginal spectrums and intrinsic mode functions, the amplitude and frequency properties of ultrasonic transducer can be analyzed. The proposed method was applied to analyze the properties of two ultrasonic transducers in experiment, and the results show that it is effective.

This paper proposes a simulator-based foresight control approach for nonlinear plant based on system identification. In the proposed method, as a main part of the simulator-based foresight controlsystem, a simulator of an exact plant model of non-affine nonlinear plant is first constructed. If relative degree of disturbance is smaller than control input, servo type filter will be then installed in series of disturbance line in order to adjust relative degree. Next, a control target equation which defines pole assignment for stable output error convergence is determined. Based on this control target equation, the control input for non-affine type nonlinear plant is generated. In this paper, the control of a boiler was implemented by use of the proposed method. The simulation results verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In recent years, the increase of non-linear loads in electrical power system has sparked the research in power quality issue. The shunt active power filter (SAPF) is a power electronic device which has been developed to improve power quality. The current control of shunt power filters is critical since poor control can reinforce existing harmonic problems. Various control strategies have been proposed by many researchers. In this paper, a comparative evaluation of the performance of two current control techniques, resonant and predictive controller, is presented with identical system specification. The design procedure and principle of both current control methods are also presented in detail. Simulation results show the comparison of transient response, steady state control and performance in the presence of variation of supply impedance between two control techniques.

This paper represents an emulation of fuzzy logic control schemes in autonomous parallel parking system in a backward maneuver. There are four infrared sensors sending distance data to microcontroller for generating an obstacle-free parking path. Two of them mounted on the front and rare wheels on the parking side are used as the inputs to the fuzzy rules to calculate a proper steering angle while backing. The other two attached to the front and rear ends serve for avoiding collision with other cars along the parking space. At the end of parking process, the vehicle will be in line with other parked cars and position in the middle of the free space. A construction of fuzzy rules is designed based upon a wall following process. The effectiveness of the controller design is demonstrated in the experimental results.

For the past several years, we have studied the high-temperature superconducting (HTS) synchronous motor assembled with melt-textured Gd-Ba-Cu-O bulk magnets. If the single pulse field magnetizes a bulk effectively, size of electrical motor will become small for the strong magnetic field of the HTS magnets without reducing output power of motor. In the previous study, we showed that the HTS bulk was magnetized to excellent cone-shape magnetic field distribution by using the waveform control pulse magnetization (WCPM) method. The WCPM technique made possible the active control of the waveform on which magnetic flux motion depended. We generated the pulse waveform with controlled risetime for HTS bulk magnetization to suppress the magnetic flux motion which decreases magnetization efficiency. The pulsed maximum magnetic flux density with slow risetime is not beyond the maximum magnetic flux density which is trapped by the static field magnetization. But, as for applying the pulse which has fast risetime, the magnetic flux which exceed greatly the threshold penetrates the bulk and causes the disorder of the trapped magnetic distribution. This fact suggests the possibility that the threshold at pulsed magnetization influences the dynamic magnetic flux motion. In this study, Gd-Ba-Cu-O bulk is magnetized by the controlled arbitrary trapezoidal shape pulse, of which the maximum magnetic flux density is controlled not to exceed the threshold. We will present the trapped magnetic characteristics and the technique to generate the controlled pulsed field.
