A Study of Full-Angle Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique

Abstract: When ultrasounds are blocked by some obstacles or some areas cannot be illuminated by ultrasounds due to the complex shape of targets, the targets may not be detected by ultrasonic testing (UT). Thus, a simple and direct full-angle synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT) is proposed to conquer the above-mentioned difficulties, and its performance will be evaluated and compared with the commonly used B-scan SAFT. Two types of the full-angle scan are introduced in this study, the first one is the four-side scan which comprises top-, right-, bottom-, and left-side scans. The second is the circular scan which the transducer circulates and faces the center of the object during scanning. Then the acquired scan data is processed by SAFT. Study results show that the images of full-angle SAFT are significantly superior to the image of the traditional B-scan SAFT. This indicates the ultrasonic detection ability is largely improved by the full-angle SAFT. However, the traditional B-scan SAFT is simple and direct which is recommended to detect the existence of the shallowest targets. For detecting the deeper targets, which may be blocked by some obstacles, the four-side scan SAFT is suggested since this method has a better detection capability to detect the extreme positions of the targets. The image of the circular scan SAFT is fine, which shows this technique has a better focus capability since the transducer inspects the specimen from full-azimuth. Thus, to reveal the shape of being blocked target, the circular scan SAFT is suggested. © 2023, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Technologies are currently being used in smart farms to improve productivity. Agricultural innovation is also widespread. Therefore, the development of Internet of Things (IoTs) technologies and devices to collect data is important. Finding essential nutrients for growth such as Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) are important factors. Competitiveness is the important key for growing vertically or indoors. However, soil testing can be expensive, complicated and time consuming. The development of devices that can effectively measure nutrient NPK levels could be used over time. This paper presents a suitable clustering using the K-means method and a forecasting method using the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method to enhance the device's ability to analyze nutrients in real time. A total of 50,688 samples were tested using the K-Means clustering algorithm, and the sample data were also analyzed. A SOM was prepared to predict the accuracy of the analysis. A total of 11,486 samples were tested and analyzed, then the results of the soluble NPK nutrient monitoring system were taken. It has an efficiency of 84.15% compared to using a UV Visible spectrophotometer, allowing data to be predicted during nutrient solubility changes and to operate according to the proposed system. Therefore, the unsupervised machine learning will improve the measurement system of future cultivation systems. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the resistance mitigation techniques for comparator design. Resistance plays an important role to semiconductor field. If resistance value higher than the design specification value, this might cause the electronic device burning and destroy. This project implements the techniques to mitigate resistance for the comparator design layout which are using multiple metal layers for routing, routing track improvement, increase metal width, increase number of vias and using higher metal layer for routing by using Cadence Virtuoso tools in 45 nanometer process technology. Based on the result, the total percentage for resistance mitigation for using multiple metal layers for routing is 73.66%, routing track improvement is 67.67%, increase metal width is 51.74%, increase number of vias is 50% and using higher metal layer for routing is 18.79%. © 2023 IEEE.

With the continuous construction of 'Desert-Gobi Desert-Wasteland' new energy bases in northwest China, energy cross-regional transportation technology has become increasingly critical. Despite the fact that the transmission technology of line commuted converter high voltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) plays a crucial role depending on long-distance, large-capacity, and low-loss transmission advantages, its inherent commutation failure (CF) remains to be solved urgently. Nevertheless, Tsinghua University has proposed the technology of hybrid commutated converter (HCC) based on the reverse blocking integrated gate commutated thyristor (RB-IGCT), which can completely solve this problem. In terms of the HCC, this paper proposes an active turn-off control method based on fault prediction. First, the fault prediction means used in the turn-off control method and its principle of resisting commutation failure are introduced;next, it is transformed on the basis of the original LCC control system to enable it to be the control system applicable to HCCs;last, based on the modified model, fault simulation is carried out, and the effect of resisting commutation failure is obtained through the turn-off control method of the HCC based on fault prediction. © 2023 IEEE.

Aero-optical imaging deviation is a kind of optical effect,aiming at a conical *** paper analyzes the influence of the aircraft on the imaging deviation with the change of altitude and line-of-sight *** this paper,the relationships between imaging deviation and altitude as well as line-of-sight angle are analyzed,and the coupling relationship between altitude and line-of-sight angle is *** give the imaging deviation results of 5°—75°line-of-sight *** analysis shows that when the line-of-sight angle is in the range of 5°—35°,the imaging deviation is more sensitive,while the line-of-sight angle is in the range of 35°—75°,the imaging deviation is relatively flat,and the imaging deviation does not gradually decrease with the increase of line-of-sight angle,but there is a turning point in the middle of 5°—75°.The imaging deviation decreases first and then increases,and the turning point of line-of-sight angle is closely related to height.

Onychomycosis is one of the most common fungal nail infections for which diagnosis remains difficult, particularly in developing countries like Sudan, as access to specialist dermatologists and diagnostic resources is limited. The traditional diagnostic methods are based on visual inspection and subjective observation that results in misdiagnosis. This paper aims to use a LightGBM classifier for the classification of nail images. In the transfer learning (TL) model, Inception-ResNet-v2, DenseNet121, and EfficientNetB0 are used. A new dynamic weighted ensemble classifier according to the game theory strategy is proposed for the fusion of the TL model and LightGBM classifier model outputs. To overcome the shortage of data availability, a dataset was collected specifically for training the deep learning models with Sudanese patients. The proposed ensemble method outperforms individual deep learning and feature-based models, delivering optimal performance and significantly improving accuracy. This study achieved a diagnostic accuracy of 96.8%, with an AUC of 0.955, sensitivity of 95.45%, and specificity of 91.59%, which surpassed the diagnostic performance of many dermatologists who participated in the study. These results demonstrate the potential of this approach for improving onychomycosis diagnosis in resource-limited settings. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper considers a human assistive system of the rehabilitation for lower-limb using the exoskeleton. When the patient feels the fatigue in the rehabilitation, the power assist is needed to continue and to stop safety. First, the proposed power assist equipment using exoskeleton is indicated. The DC motor, the torsion spring, worm wheel, worm gear are used. Next, the control system using PI controller is proposed. The encoder attached to the knee joint is used as the reference value and the encoder attached to the motor is controlled by the motor. Finally, an experiment of repeated flexion and extension of the knee joint is conducted. It is verified that the motor can be controlled to be same angle of the knee angle. Therefore, the power assist by the exoskeleton is useful for the rehabilitation. © 2023 IEEE.

Algorithmic trading has emerged as a powerful tool for making data-driven trading decisions in financial markets. In this paper, we present an innovative algorithmic trading model for stock price forecasting that integrates forest-based machine learning algorithms with the Golden Ratio strategy. Our proposed approach aims to leverage the predictive power of machine learning while incorporating insights from technical analysis to enhance trading performance and profitability. The methodology involves data collection and preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, and performance evaluation. Historical stock price data, financial indicators, and sentiment analysis data are gathered and pre-processed to ensure data quality. Feature engineering techniques are applied to extract relevant features, and forest-based machine learning algorithms are trained on the data to forecast stock prices. The Golden Ratio strategy is integrated into the trading model to identify the entry point and exit point. Empirical validation and performance evaluation demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach. Through back testing and simulation-based testing, we evaluate the model's accuracy, profitability, and risk-adjusted returns. Our findings contribute to the advancement of algorithmic trading research and practice, offering insights into the potential benefits of combining machine learning algorithms with established trading strategies. The proposed hybrid model incorporates Golden Ratio Strategy, integrating Random Forest (RF). The results of the proposed random forest with Golden Ratio Strategy are compared with the results of individual model. This comparison helps in proving the efficiency of the proposed model. © 2024 IEEE.

Radar signal test systems have the ability to capture broadband signals in real time, analyse high-speed data streams and synthesise large bandwidth signals. The traditional test system is usually built with separate instruments and equipment, which makes it difficult to unify the indicators among the equipment, occupies a large space, has a complicated debugging and testing process, and has low system testing efficiency. Based on the characteristics of the standardised structure, a modular instrument that integrates high-speed and high-precision data acquisition and signal synthesis, and digital signal processing functions is designed and implemented, which improves the functional scalability and portability of the test system, perfects the performance of the radar test system and enhances the test efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

As the trend of the increasingly implementation of electrical devices with high power densities and frequencies, the excess eddy current loss is taking a larger proportion of iron losses in magnetic cores of devices, like electrical transformers, in the power system. This article proposed a numerical method for calculating the dynamic losses of grain-oriented (GO) silicon steel sheets considering the movement of the magnetic domain wall generating the excess eddy currents. First, according to the domain wall theory, the GO silicon steel sheets are simulated by the finite element (FE) method with the movable boundary conditions. Then, dynamic and the static hysteresis loops are measured for extracting the dynamic losses of the magnetic core sample. Compared to the measurement results, the proposed method has better accuracy than the conventional method on the loss simulation. Finally, the distributions of the eddy currents at specific time steps can be derived and compared to the conventional method for investigating the effects of the domain wall movements on the magnetic characteristics. © 2024 IEEE.
