The 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 project with man landing on the moon reminds the world again by what science and engineering can do if the man is determined to do. However, a huge step can only be achieved step by step which may be relatively small at the beginning. Robotic exploration can provide necessary information needed to do the further step safely, with less cost, more conveniently. Trajectory generation for a robotic vehicle is an essential part of the total mission planning. To save energy by exploiting possible resources such as wind will assist a robotic explorer extend its life span and perform tasks more reliably. In this paper, we propose to utilize Nonlinear Trajectory Generation (NTG) methodology to generate energy efficient trajectores for the JPL Aerobot by exploiting wind. The Aerobot model is decoupled into longitudinal and lateral dynamics with control inputs as elevator deflection δ e , thrust demand δ T , vectoring angle δ v for the longitudinal motion, aileron deflection δ a , rudder deflection δ r for the lateral motion. The outputs are the velocities and orientation of the Aerobot. The Aerobot state space model parameters are obtained from experimental identification on AURORA Airship since the actual JPL Aerobot is similar to the AURORA Airship. In this paper, the results show that with the state-space model, the proposed trajectory generation method can guide the Aerobot to take advantage of previously known wind profile to generate an energy-efficient trajectory.

As one of valid modeling and coordinated controlling tools, the particle swarm optimization algorithm can be extended for applying to task of swarm robotic search. To gain an insight into effects of key parameters on distributed swarm search, a series of simulations are conducted. In such control algorithm, main parameters including communication range, detection radius, and swarm size are paid close attentions. Similar to ideal “particles”, swarm robots are modeled at an abstract level with the extended particle swarm optimization method. Also, individual robots are designed to be controlled under three-state finite state machine mechanism having SingleSearch, SwarmSearch, and Declaration states. Then, control strategy and algorithm are developed. The statistical results from simulating data indicate the validity of modeling approach. Further, the effects of three parameters on overhead and efficiency of system running come out in compared analysis both of different size swarms and of specific size swarm.

This paper investigates average consensus problem in networks of continuous-time agents with delayed information and jointly-connected topologies. A lemma is derived by extending the Barbalat's Lemma to piecewise continuous functions, which provides a new analysis approach for switched systems. Then based on this lemma, a sufficient condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is given for average consensus of the system by employing a Lyapunov approach, where the communication structures vary over time and the corresponding graphs may not be connected. Finally, simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

We propose a novel method for extracting a rhythmically oscillating signal from EEG recordings including multiple source signals which have similar frequencies. The main application of this method is brain computer interfaces (BCI), which use rhythmically oscillating signals such as alpha, mu, and beta waves, as feature signals. It is difficult to separate those components and/or extract an command-related component when these feature signals span the same frequency band. The main idea is to assume that signals generated in different brain parts have different phases, even though they have the same frequency. This hypothesis is effectively incorporated with the previously proposed rhythmic component extraction (RCE) method, which successfully extracts a signal oscillating at a certain frequency from multi-channel sensor signals in the BCI application. The signal model is firstly given and then this novel extraction method is formulated as an optimization problem. We apply the proposed method for the classification of multi-channel EEG signals between imaginary left/right hand movement. Our experiment suggests that the proposed method is effective in feature extraction for motor-imagery based BCI.

To extract feature parameters of Pseudo-code binary phase modulation combined with sine frequency modulation continuous wave(PRBC-SFMCW), the linear decomposition techniques using Quadrature Mirror Filter Bank Tree (QMFBT) is adopted. With this method, the intercepted signal is decomposed and analyzed by QMFBT. Then according to the feature of PRBC-SFMCW signal contained in different time-frequency layers the algorithm of feature parameter extraction on an appropriate time-frequency layer is presented. The analysis and simulation results show that the SNR of PRBC-SFMCW signal is improved after decomposition. At the same time, the across section disappear and parameters can be estimated accurately in a low SNR condition.

One key to success for high quality enterprise information systems development is to validate the customers' requirements sufficiently at the early stage. Scenarios are an effective means to an end because they make it possible to represent various situations of system usage. Most scenarios are defined by using a natural language or such a formal language as Unified Modeling Language (UML) and describe normal, alternative, and exceptional service flows from the point of view of system usage. As a result, scenarios make it easy for the customers to confirm their requirements intuitively because of the concreteness. On the other hand, based on the V-model, which is well-known software development process and denotes the correspondence of requirement analysis stage to integration test stage, it is desirable that the testers should test the system by using the test cases derived from the validated scenarios. We have proposed a UML-based requirements analysis (RA) model with automatic prototype system generation for enterprise Web application development. This paper proposes a way to efficiently create reliable test cases from the scenarios that have been validated by the customers using the prototype system which was generated by the RA model.

It has been widely acknowledged that ambiguous or incomplete customer requirements are a major reason for the failure of software development projects. A key example of this is the inconsistency between implementation image and specifications provided in the early stages of software development. To address this, we propose a method for automatic generation of user interface prototypes for developing Web-based business applications, based on the requirements specifications defined in the Unified Modeling Language (UML). In this study, we compare the proposed method with traditional use case modeling to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
